Sheriff's Deputy Fred Krives, along with several other deputies, saw some of the many objects over Portland from the Court House across the Columbia River in Vancouver, Wash. Krives recalled that over half a dozen deputies were outside looking at what they estimated to be about 20 disc-shaped objects in several subgroups racing across the sky at an estimated height of perhaps 1000 ft, heading to the southwest.

From contemporary press accounts, it was evident that more than one formation of discs flew over Portland that day. Harbor Patrol Capt. K.A. Prehn, said that he had been called outside by another officer who spotted objects moving overhead towards the south. Their speed seemed comparable to that of aircraft, their outlines were quite sharp, and they looked metallic as they flashed in the sun. They occasionally wobbled, and their path seemed to be slightly irregular. Other officers sighted discs from other parts of the Portland area; one of them, Officer Walter Lissy, emphasized that he recalled them as zig-zagging along at "terrific speed." Another officer, Earl Patterson, told of seeing a single object that "made sudden 90-degree turns with no difficulty.

On Thursday, January 11, 2001, at 8:20 p.m., Ernest C. and his daughter were outdoors in Portland, Oregon's largest city, "facing south, looking about straight up" when "we saw two large globes hovering in the sky. The objects were straight up. They were just hovering in the sky. They were large round white globes."

"My friend from work says he saw a reporter on Channel 8 reporting the same thing. He said the report matched up with what my daughter and I saw." (Email Form Report)

PORTLAND -- on August 17, 2001, two persons saw the glint from a silver spherical object moving southeast at high altitude at 12:35 PM. Just before the sighting, a squadron of UH-60 military helicopters flew in formation northeast towards Portland PDX airport. The spherical object appeared to have movement on the underside, similar to a tail and moved rapidly across the sky. I grabbed my partner and directed his attention to it. "My god! It is a UFO" was his response. I grabbed the camera off the table and got three shots before I lost it in the trees. We ran out front of the house, and looked along the expected path of the object, but it had disappeared. The witness occupations are Chef/Teacher/Artist and, ironically enough, a Radio Talk Show Host who specializes in the topics of Paranormal and unexplained phenomena. These are just three of many, many sightings reported in my area. In 2003, there was also a spectacular sighting in Gresham, the city that adjoins Portland to the east. There were a large number of witnesses and a pair even followed the object in their car.
Anyway, I am interested in reading about UFO sightings in your town. Please share.
