In Flatwoods, West Virginia, a group of people saw an object land on a hill not too far away. They went up to investigate, and a dog ran ahead of them. The dog came back whimpering and had it's tail between it's legs. The group then saw a monsturous dude with green eyes and a cloak "glided" twoards the group, which fled in terror. Well what does everyone think of the incident?

This is a very famous story, and a really good one! There have been many threads here about it, one only a couple of months ago... there was a thread with a sketch of what one of the kids saw, and it looks pretty freaakyy! Either way, have a search, and you'll find much more...

I read this story when I was young and I too thought it was frightening. The idea of running into an unknown in the woods at night (especially if the thing looked like the one in the pic) still sounds like it would be an unnerving experience.

There is a very similar feature in this case to many others when looking at the alien entity 'gliding' towards the people.

I have read many adbuction stories where people claim that very tall, perhaps 7-8 foot, dark shadowy beings that wear a sort of robe on, glide towards people who come in site of them. I will type out a passage from one of my favourite Adbuction books to show just how this case is resembles others, and is not as uniquely scary as it seems!

while you read this, take into account that the whole time these people were witnessing and experiencing the alien abduction, for them 'time' stood still, and later after the experience they were unaware of what happened, and claimed they had missed 2-3 hours they simply had no account of - which is a common thing (as most of you probably know) in abductions as their memory is temporarily supressed of the encounter with the beings. This may be due to our brain's defence mechanism known as repression which allows us to reject and forget memories which are too traumatic and highly emotional to recall again.

At first from a distance, it looked like a blimp, hovering above the road at about 400 metres in front of us, but as we got closer to it, you could see it wasn't a blimp. And there were these silhouettes standing there, like people, in the orange lights. I said to my husband, 'it looks like there's people in there!' There were people looking at us - thats the way I saw it. And the minute I said that, it shot off to the left and just disappeared, like in two seconds flat, into the east of Melbourne. Kelly then said, "I felt like I had experienced a blackout".
.... On the way home, the couple began to argue about what happened. A distinct smell, similar to that of vomit, permeated the air inside the car, although no traces could be found. In addition, Kelly complained of a dull pain in her stomach, extending to her shoulders. Arriving home, they were shocked to discover that the time was 02:30. "We had left our freinds [Yvone and her family] no later than 11:45 p.m.," explained Kelly. "We had done this journey on many occasions, and it always takes 90 minutes. I was shocked when I noticed the clock. I had no interest in in UFO's at the time, and certainly had no knowledge of "missing time" and so on. I didn't know what had happened. I sat there thinking that I may have had an epileptic fit or something.

THE ENCOUNTER RECALLED

'We turned this bend, from where the light was, and there was this dirty big UFO sitting in the field,' Kelly related to Mark. 'No one could miss it, it was 50 metres in diameter'. Andrew stopped the car and pulled over to the side of the road. Another car was parked over 100 metres behind them. (Later, it transpired that a third car had also been present at the scene.)

I had got outside of the car, crossed the road, and picked up my handbag. As I went to look behind me, here was another car. I walked around the front of the to meet my husband on the other side, started walking across the road, looked down the road again - and other people were walking across the road, too. They never saw us - they thought they were the only ones. I jumped the gully. There was about 10 metres of grass before the [electrified] fence. . . I stood there for about 30 seconds watching this dirty big craft [with] round circles of orange light; they were fluorescent, really hazy around the outside, but big enought for a man to stand up full-length in each one of these circles. And underneath was this blue stuff that came down to the ground in a conical shape, like a half - cresent of fluorescent light.

**This is the relevant similarity** Then this one, tall black being appeared in front of the craft - I don't know where it came from. It was really tall, like about 7 feet, I guess. You couldn't see any features, it was like a silhouette. Its head was quite large. The first thing I thought was that I could talk to it, like I could say hello in my head. And I did. I heard the words, 'Let's kill them'. That's all I heared. I went into panic. The next thing, there were seven or eight of these other things right behind the first one, all identical. Then I felt this energy going through me. I don't know how to describe it - it was like waves of energy. I was extremely religeous at the time, and I began screaming that they have no souls. Then all these eyes lit up red - 16 to 18 eyes, huge, big round things. This all happened in a few seconds. Then they moved across the field - the whole lot of them ***gliding***, but so fast, and split up into two groups: some went towards the other people, and the other group came towards us. I felt this blow to my stomach, went flying through the air and landed on my back in the grass. I was winded, I couldn't breathe, and I was nauseous.
I managed to pull myself into a sitting position, because I thought I was going to die if I didn't, and I sat there. Then I called out to my husband, because I was totally blind: when I sat up, I couldn'y see a thing, and for the rest of the encounter all I had was what I heared. I had ringing in my ears. Then I heared my husband say, 'Let go of me!' And he was a few metres away from me. I think the part of what knocked me out was perhaps because I'd been hit in the stomach somehow - I don't know with what - then I'd literally been lifted off the ground and landed flat on my back - luckily it was grass.

The Hickson-Parker abduction case had creatures who were elevated several feet off the ground. But, he gave some hint that he felt they were living beings.

ON 08-11-00 AT APPROX. 0815 I RECIEVED A CALL ABOUT A MAN LAYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD APPROX. SEVEN MILES SOUTH OF ((town name deleted)) AND APPROX. FIVE AND THREE QUARTERS MILES WEST OF ((town name deleted)). I WENT TO THE SCENE AND WHEN I ARRIVED I SAW A MAN WEARING A WINDSUIT LYING DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY. I COULD NOT SMELL ANY ALCOHOL ON HIM NOR DID I SEE ANY SIGN OF ITS USE AND HE DENIED ANY DRUG USE. IN THE AREA WHERE HE HAD BEEN LYING IT APPEARED HE HAD BEEN ROLLING AROUND. HIS WALLET AND MONEY WERE ON THE GROUND BESIDE HIM. THERE WERE ALSO NUMEROUS FOOTPRINTS IN THE AREA WHERE HE WAS. ALL THE TRACKS MATCHED THE TENNIS SHOES HE WAS WEARING AND THEY APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN MADE BY SOMEONE WHO WAS CONFUSED. AS I BEGAN TALKING TO THE MAN HE TOLD ME THAT HE WAS GOING TO TELL ME SOMETHING THAT I WOULD FIND HARD TO BELIEVE. HE TOLD ME THAT HE THOUGHT HE HAD BEEN KIDNAPPED BY ALIENS. HE SAID AFTER HE RAN OUT OF GAS HE STARTED WALKING TOWARD SOME LIGHTS THAT HE SAW. HE SAID AS HE WAS WALKING, A CAR WENT AROUND HIM AND HE THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO STOP AND PICK HIM UP. IT PULLED AHEAD OF HIM QUITE AWAYS AND STOPPED WHICH HE THOUGHT WAS STRANGE. HE SAID A MAN GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND LOOKED AT HIM. HE DESCRIBED THE MAN AS HAVING GLOWING GREEN EYES. HE SAID AT THAT TIME HE LOOKED BEHIND HIM AND SAW BESIDE HIM TWO OTHER MEN. ONE ON EACH SIDE. ONE OF THE MEN HAD GLOWING GREEN EYES AND THE OTHER ONE HAD EYES THAT GLOWE! D LIKE D IAMONDS. THE MEN DID NOT SAY ANYTHING TO HIM BUT HE COULD TELL THEY WERE TELLING HIM TO TRUST THEM. THE MAN BEGAN TO FEEL AS IF HE WAS BEING SHOCKED AND SAID HE COULD NOT MOVE. HE SAID THE MEMORY WAS VERY VIVID TO HIM, ALTHOUGH THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE ENCOUNTER WERE SOMEWHAT BLURRED IN HIS MEMORY. THE MAN WAS VERY THIRSTY AT THE TIME I PICKED HIM UP. WE BEGAN LOOKING FOR HIS CAR AND AFTER SEARCHING FOR IT FOR ABOUT THIRTY MINUTES WE FOUND THE CAR APPROX. ONE TO ONE AND AHALF MILES AWAY WHERE HE HAD RUN OUT OF GAS IN A PLOWED FIELD. I CONTACTED THE SON OF THE MAN AND HE WAS SURPRISED AT WHERE HIS FATHER WAS AND WHAT HE WAS REPORTING TO ME. THE SON DESCRIBED THE MAN AS BEING THE MOST RATIONAL AND SANE MAN YOU WOULD MEET. I ALSO CALLED THE MAN'S DAUGHTER AND SHE REPORTED THAT AT APPROX. 0445 THAT SAME MORNING THE MAN CALLED HER ON HIS CELL PHONE WHICH HE WAS CARRYING WITH HIM AND HAD WITH HIM WHEN I FOUND HIM. HE TOLD HIS DAUGHTER AT THE TIME THAT HE WAS BEING KIDNAPPED BY ALIENS AND THE CELL PHONE WENT DEAD. HE WAS ALSO REPORTED TO HAVE CALLED A FRIEND IN ((country name deleted)) AND TOLD HIM THE SAME THING. THE MORE I WAS WITH THE MAN THE LESS CONFUSED HE BECAME HOWEVER THE EVENTS PRIOR TO THE REPORTED CONTACT WERE STILL HAZY BUT THOSE OF THE EVENT WERE CLEAR. I COULD NOT FIND ANY OF HIS TRACKS LEADING TO WHERE I FOUND HIM HOWEVER VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND THE WIND COULD HAVE DONE AWAY WITH THEM. AFTER GETTING FUEL FOR HIS VEHICLE THE MAN CONTINUED ON TO HIS DESTINATION.

Actually leadbelly, Charles Hickson stated that the beings that were able to float and glide through the air were not real at all. Infact, The female Grey entity which had adbucted him told him that they are robotic, and simply just carry out orders.
