Percy "F" was only in his late 20's when the stock market crashed in 1929, setting the world into the largest depression ever.
Percy invested every cent he had into the stock market and lost everything on that "black friday". In his state of deep anguish and depression, Percy took his own life.
Clock ahead to 1968...my family and I move into the house numbered 414 on the main street of my hometown that Percy and his family once lived in years before. The house was old, pre-Victorian I'd say. Full of personality and little did my family and I know just "how" full of personality it was.
I could sit here at my desk and absolutely fill this thread with things that happened but me being lazy, I won't. But I will however, tell you one of the most amazing things that happened years after we moved into the house.
I found that the entity was centralized in the back bedroom, the main window faced out to the driveway at the back of the house.
One summer evening, my sister drove in to the drive way and before she got out of her car, she looked up at the back bedroom window and saw who she thought was me pulling the blind back to one side and looking out.
She went into the house through the back door, through the kitchen, through the livingroom and down the hall to the bottom of the stairs and called out my name. She received no answer, she called out again and still...no answer.
Since my Dad had his government office in the house, she thought she should check it out just in case it wasn't me but an intruder.
She later said she thought it was odd that when she first came into the house, all of the lights were out. To make a long story short...she checked every room upstairs and found nobody.
She shruged it off, went back down stairs and went back to her car. As she got her keys out, she looked up at the back bedroom window and saw nothing...she got into her car and repeated the same and saw nothing.
She started the car, backed out and before she turned on her headlights, she looked up one last time...to see somebody looking out the window with the blind pulled over to one side.
We all moved out of the house one by one, Dad passed away and Mom rented an apartment and new occupants moved in. A few years ago, I asked the occupants if they noticed anything strange and the answer was no.
I can only guess that Percy, suffering from a broken heart from all of us leaving went into the light.

That was a creepy story. The man lived the krash. Oh, it was the "black thursday" not friday.
I think I'd want to kill myself as well if I got ruined like that instantly.

Poor Percy. I feel rather sad for him. I hope he did go into the light finally.

Hi JayMark...pardon ??
Hi EarthChick...
Percy had a personality all of his own. I remember we would all be sitting at the kitchen table having a meal and you could hear his foot steps in the back bedroom above us.
Sometimes you could hear him start at the bottom of the stairs and walk half way up or if he started at the top he would go half way down. For some strange reason...he never, ever completed the trip.

There is also the possibility that Percy is still there, just that the new tenants can not or will not pick up on it. I have been a witness to several hauntings where some people would experience it and some would not. It is very debatable as to why this is, and I'm not going into that here, but I can remember a time in the last haunted house that I lived in where my mother and her boyfriend would be sitting right next to each other and my mother would hear the knocking on the bedroom door clear as day and he would hear nothing.
In my sisters house, the ghost there will only come out at certain times and it appears that he will only appear to certain people. He was a regular occurance, about 3-4 times a week my sister would get up in the morning and find him standing in the hall. After several years her mother got married and when her step father moved in the ghost stopped appearing, they thought he had moved on. The marriage did not work out and they filed for divorse and he moved out, and when he did, the ghost came back.
Some people question wether or not it is all in my sisters head, that it has something to do with how she is feeling, mental issues, and I might think that as well, except I have experienced the hauntings in her house myself.

Sorry, but I think I'm missing something in the story...
How is Percy F connected to this property? Did he live there in his lifetime? Did he take his own life in that house/back room?

I just went back and re-read the entire post and I don't see where is says if he actually lived there or not. Maybe I haven't had enough coffee this morning but I'm assuming he lived there when he died..

I just said that the "krash" (or crash or speel it how you feel) happened on a thursday and not a friday like you said in your story.
That's all. Not very important.

Hi JayMark...
You are 100% correct my friend...it was a Thursday...Black Friday was the name of a move.
I stand corrected.
Thank you.
Hi Eva...
I really don't like that thought that he could still be there...it's like leaving a friend with strangers.
Hi Duramus...
The one very important thing about this haunting was that none of us were ever frightened by Percy. After a bit, If the house was empty when i got home from school, work, a date, etc. I'd always yell up the stairs..."hi ya, Percy" (no he never answered back)
He didn't like my ex-wife though (no joke there) he used to be extra loud around her and do out of the ordinary things like thumping noises .

Hi ShylocksGhost,
Interesting story, by it you believe that spirits exist and yet I get a different feeling off the ouija thread.
Anyway.... Welcome to UM, hope you enjoy your stay here with us.

Hi Tia...nice to meet you.
Oh yes, I am a huge believer in the existence of life force energy..."ghosts" if you wish.
I believe you have been steered in the wrong direction though...spirit energy has absolutely nothing to do with the workings of a Ouija board.
It's a fairly old device...dating back to 1890 I believe...The Ouija board wasn't so much invented, as it was refined. Communicating with the dead through spirit mediums swept the United States and Europe during the latter part of the 19th century.
Seances were held, where people sat around a table, waiting for the spirits to speak.
The disembodied dead made their presence known by tipping the table, and knocking one of its legs on the floor. The taps were supposedly a code which the medium interpreted for her guests.
But table tipping was a slow and rather boring way to receive the spirits' messages. Some mediums chose to go into a trance and allow the spirits to speak through them.
Others preferred automatic writing, believing that what they wrote while in the trance state came to them from the spirits. Numerous gadgets were also invented, some of them involving complicated gears and pulleys.
Gradually, a simplified planchette and a standardized board evolved, becoming the Ouija board that we know today.
What moves the planchette or "pointer" is the subconsious mind of the operators (people playing with the board). It's the same principal as the pendulum.
Tia, please don't let anyone try to convince you that it's "ghosts" guiding your hand...it's only your brain.

Hi ShylocksGhost
I guess that makes sense. If i was to see something peering out of my window, then i go in and there is nothing, I would be a bit creeped out at first.
Very interesting nonetheless!

Remarkable story shylocksghost, scary.

I wonder why Limbo does that to ppl? That is so cruel to walk in Limbo, I would hate it. I also was wondering why didnt u keep the house and it seems that u and family had a history in the house, do you have any pictures?

Actually, researchers have found evidence of Ouija board use dating back as far as the 1500's.
And sorry about the thought that Percy may still be there.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this ShylocksGhost.
How do you explain people getting correct information about others without having any first hand knowledge?
Anyway it's great to have another person on here who understands and believes in spirits.
