I'm a new fan of NIN and I want to know which is their best album so I can buy it (I somehow suspect 'The Downward Spiral' is the best)
ABOTU
I have no idea what the best album is, that's probably an opinion thing. But I love NIN.

Yes I myself like Downward Spiral the best, followed by Pretty Hate Machine.. I think.

But i like most of their stuff, and would recommend the live performance DVD yes.gif

I might be going to see them! Whoooohooo! They're playing with Queens of the Stone Age next month. That would be very good to go see.

I think Fixxed is their best and pretty hate machine. I like downward spiral but i think it made them kinda sell out. I have been a NIN fan since like 1989-1990 and have pretty much everything they put out. They definitely put on one of the best concerts i have ever seen that is for sure.

Fixed is a remix disc with songs from Broken if im not mistaken.... I find it hard to think that a remix disc is there best work...lol

How did they sell out exactly?
ABOTU
Just talked to my brother. He thinks Downward Spiral is the best album he's ever heard, forget best NIN one. He raves about it. He gave it away though... he might get a new one.

Yes Fixed is remixes from broken but i think it kicks ass. But hey its just my opinion. I think they sold out because they started out being all about underground music and stuff and then got a hit single and i feel that changed them. I love nails but it makes me mad when people say they started the whole industrial scene because there were many bands way before them that started the movement such as throbbing gristle, einsterzende neubauten, skinny puppy, front line assembly, front 242 and bands like that pathed the way for Trent. He has amazing talent but he has gone pretty mainstream.

The remix of Wish is something I listen to often, so I can concur that Fixed is good....

I hear very little diference between their first album, as far as content and lyrics go, compared to there last one. its a lot neater and smoother in transistion, but that hasnt really changed the style at all in my opinion.....

Mainstream would allow them to be played on radio, here they are regarded as content unsuitable for radio.....
