I suppose nearly every one here ha heard of the candy man. He was killed because he fell in love with a village girl.
When they found out he was taken to a tree, smeared with honey, then a bees nest was raided and the bees stung him to death.
His soul was trpped in a mirror and the name "Candyman" was called out 5 times and then he died and his hand was replaces with a meat hook.

Now if you say "Candyman" 5 times into a mirror, he'll supposedly come along and kill you.

Has anybody tried it, I definately haven't!

Let's say the legend was real and you ask a question like this. You are never going to get a 'yes' answer because everyone who did try it is going to be dead.
But that the legend isn't real, it is just a movie, you still won't get a yes answer because everyone who has will be too embarrassed to admit it.

I once did the Bloody Mary version on a dare during a sleep-over, and absolutely nothing happened in the bathroom. I did have a minor heart attack when I exited and found myself ambushed by my alleged friends hidden around a corner.

Although i do think that for some reason be it the music or the brillinat acting by the Candyman that this was a very very scary movie(for me)

lol I think the movie was terrifically horrific! Was very scared from watching it at the age of ... 10 or so. Even though I had no idea of who Freddy Krueger was, I got compensated through the Candyman movie. And yes, I did try the "Candyman" X5 times in front of the mirror, it's not like I was afraid of death. But, fortunately nothing came to stab me. The whole experience (well, almost a significant experience) is just about what fun you get from bungy jumping! (Almost.)

I have never seen the movie or heard the story, but it sounds kinda stupid. Technically it would have to be the mirror that he was trapped in right? Not yours....

It seems symbolic to me, not 'a mirror', but rather in things that reflect. He was punished because of falling in love with a girl from that village, and then acting on his feelings of pursuing a relationship with her.. So then, he's trapped in a mirror only able to spectate the outside world, and again (Not 'a mirror', but in anything that reflects) The plan was that his beloved would call out to him five times in front of the mirror, and that he would come and collect her(So they could be together once more).. But because his beloved never actually did that, he's fuelled by anger and does so towards anyone who isn't his beloved whom calls his name five times in front of a mirror.

That's how I see it..

and apparently, is you spin 5 times and say 'Bloody Mary I stole your baby' 3 times in the procces, then put your ear to a brick wall youll hear a scream.

The version of Canyman that i heard form my cousin is that you go in the bathroom and shut off the lights, close your eyes then you say your favorite candy 5x really fast then you open your eyes then in the mirror you see the candyman then you turn aorund and he isn't there.

I tried it when my sister had a sleep over and she is younger than me and all her friends were scared but nothing happens ever we always use to do it.

last sleepover, we tried it, but i was in the kitchen so i grabbed a spatula, after the 5th one, i burst the door open and said 'Got Candy?' Ive never seen them so scared in my life.

I have heard the legend but never tried it, i am 19 now and still wont. i have problems coping with the 3 shadow people hence captain hook showing up, XSAS_Daughter them red eyes u seen, did they have white liits underneath but the whole eye slit like, my unkle has seen this also when he was young, he is dead now though but when he seen it it wold be around 90 years ago (he died at 96)

Once the father heard of this he became infuriated that his daughter was carrying a black mans child. He called on the men of the town to avenge his daughter’s victimization. to go out seek and kill Candyman. Once They found him they dragged him into a field, they striped him of his clothes, cut off his right hand with a saw. Then the mob spotting a nearby beehive, broke it open covered him in honey and watched as the angry bees stung him to to death. The only thing he had in his possession was a mirror that the rich white man daughter gave him.

It is said the Candyman won't bother those who fear him, just those that don't. In a darkened room say Candyman five time in the mirror and you would see towering cloaked figure with a hook that has replaced his right hand. He will appear to kill you.
