The movie studios received one of their biggest blows today with the news that a high quality copy of the Family Guy movie is spreading rapidly around P2P networks, months before its home theater release.

According to the information file published by the release group Angelic Evolution, the movie has been ripped from an “exclusive DVD premiere.”

The film, based on the TV series “Family Guy”, is not due for release until late September.

Titled Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story!, the movie follows Stewie, the family’s maniacal baby genius, who sets out on a road trip to find who he believes to be his real father.

The release comes despite the studios successful campaign for increasingly draconian copyright protection laws and high profile arrests, leaving the industry and spectators with the questions as to how much can really be done to stop movie leaks.

What?! It's one thing when a movie leaks days before release, but months? Damn!

Actually, I didn't even know they were making a movie...

the movie has been in the works for quite some time, i didnt know it was ready for release though, i see how it sucks for them, but for the general public it doesnt really suck to much, i mean the fans will buy it when its released wether they see it now or not, and the ones who dont plan on buying and see it now, wouldnt buy it when it came out anyway

Its not really a movie. Its actually the 4th, 5th, and 6th episodes of the current season combined to make it a movie.

Does anybody else think that the current season of Family Guy relies too much on the older seasons, making this one not as funny? For example, the chicken fight at the beginning of the season. In my opinion, it wasn't that funny. Not sure if it was meant to be or not. It is funny, but I don't get as many laughs as I do when watching the older episodes. Still, this must suck for them, seeing as how it is months ahead. sad.gif

It was done the other way round first as a feature then when the show got back on the air they split it, whether they can air it aswell as the DVD release is another matter. The DVD will still sell it will include audio commentaries, deleted scenes etc.

Interesting...

I wonder how it got out so fast... had to be someone on the inside. Kind of like the Star Wars 3... it was on the web a couple hours before offical release date because of someone on the inside.

No, I dont think they really have much to worry about. Family Guy fans will still buy the movie, its better than a crappy P2P version. Ill just keep my LimeWire copy until the movie comes out.

im a huge fan and find myself quoting family guys classic lines with my friedsn at least 6-7 times a day, but frankly... the film was dissapointing, it used too many jokes already in the series. it was repeptitive and slow. they could have done way better. altho i loved t when the first thing louis says is: f*** yeah!

i didnt think it was bad, i sort of like when shows/movies/songs repeat themselves, it gives me a feeling of "being down" for lack of a better word, when they re-do something, like lets say the chicken fight, i knew were it came from, to the people who jsut started watching it, it was brand new, i felt i had something over them, it made me feel like im part of the history, i dont know though, im kinda weird when it comes to this kinda stuff

sure it has that effect., but it just wasnt as funny as the series, and it was nice to focus on stewie but it just didnt cut it for me.

LETS HAVE A SEXY PARTY!!!!!!
