Although stereotyped as dolls with pins in them used to hurt people, voodoo dolls are actually used for many purposes, including luck, love, money, and overall success. Apparently voodoo dolls work extremely well, judging by the reviews I have seen on sites which speacialize on them.

I am somewhat skeptical about this, but would like to hear an opinion from someone who has used one. Did it work? What were the results?

I have not personally used one (and for good reason), though I have known of cases. Voodoo is a very strong, powerful............"presence" (for lack of better word). It can be very dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing. Even the dolls for luck, money and success can go very wrong if not done just right. Just remember the saying "careful what you wish for".

I don't know from experience but I've heard tell that making dolls of people, especially when including some part of that person in the image (nail clippings, hair and things like that) is a very dangerous thing to do indeed. I'm a cautious skeptic about this and would never make such a doll even for good purposes. The problem is : what do you DO with it when its purpose is accomplished? It seems possible that whatever you do with the doll happens to the person it represents. So............do you burn it? Do you bury it? Better not to make one in the first place. Lonecat no.gif

A couple or so years ago my sister got a mini voodoo doll I think for her birthday or something from her boyfriend as a joke. She didn't use it and I'm pretty sure she doesn't have it anymore.
I didn't see it at their apartment. So I'm pretty sure she just got rid of it sometime.

even though I'm skeptical about 99% of things...I would never mess with voodoo... dontgetit.gif

I never had an experience with a voo doo doll at first hand but like Lonecat said, usually a voo doo doll would require an element from a person for representation. Straight up, I don't f*ck with voo doo man. I knew this lady on my street (not personally like buddy buddy) that was from some part of Central America that was custom in that "profession". My older brother and I had this friend named Adam Townsend. He was a cool dude but always started crap with that lady. He would ride his bike through her yard, get in her face and talked sh*t, play home run derby with her plants (hit her plants with a baseball bat), piss in her yard, etc.....My older brother and I never did anything of that sort but everytime we saw Adam he was messing with her and she would chase him off with her broom (she would sweep her YARD yes yard and sweep her driveway and whats in front of her street she'd sweep it too). One night my brother, his friend and I just got done playing some football and hung out in front of my driveway and saw the lady surprisingly walking up the street (never seen her that far away from home) with some bile in her hand. She walked right in front of Adam's house and started to chant stuff and did that for a while (guesstimation of 2-3 minutes). My brother and I were pretty stunned and nervous (because we knew he pissed her off and for some reason we knew she had enough of him) when we saw that because we were associated with him and thought we pissed her off too but we were the ones telling him to quit picking on her. After she chanted, she did something with that bile and just walked back down the street (she lives pretty far down the street) like she was programmed or something. Well in the span of a year, Adam's family got kicked out of their house, they lost their jobs and went into debt, got divorced, his older brother died in a vehicle accident, Adam broke his back (not associated with his brother's accident) and sh*t just hit the fan for him. Just to think about it, that house from then on out was consistently trouble for everyone that moved into it (I'm not saying it's because of the voo doo but just a trend that I noticed). Everytime voo doo comes up, I think of her and that night and all the stories that other people told me about her. I too am usually a skeptic about a lot of things in life but voo doo is one that I will not test or experiment on (even if its good voo doo) because of that occurence. Please, this is no exaggaration and NO I'm not making this sh*t up because I have better things that I can be doing but I chose to share an experience with everyone about voo doo (even though it wasn't a doll).
