This family photo, taken by Neville D'Cruz in Adelaide in 1975, seems innocent enough. But, at a closer glance, a pair of disembodied hands can be seen clutching the waist of Neville's brother.



I've posted this picture elsewhere in the forum, but now that we have polling capabilities, I'm interested in gauging everyone else's opinion.

I think the image is genuine but is a trick of the angle. A small kid could feasibly be sitting behind 'Roy Orbison' with their legs tucked up. It's possible.

It is a clever picture that was changed with a paint program..  :sd

               I was going to vote 'tragic experiment..',  but decided he probably would've tucked them UNDER his shirt -  for the family reunion and all. :s1

I agree with Loonboy, i think there is a small child behind Roy there.

Although I don't know how it was done. I think if it was for real, everybody would have heard about it by now. So, in my opinion, it's a fake.

  That's an interesting observation coming from someone who hosts a rather large number of 'faked' and cleverly hoaxed photographs on his web site.  :s04

  The picture was made public in 1975, way before the advent of any computerized 'paint' program.

I would've said it was a creation in 'Photoshop' too, but if it was from the 70's it canna be.  So, I too think it's a wee kiddie behind Roy.  Which is probably a creepier concept than the disembodied hands...

Remember those rubber "disembodied limbs" that were around quite a while ago? People shut them in car doors etc (it's amazing what passed for comedy in the mid 80's) A crap explaination i know but it just reminded me of them, and made me laugh.

Does anyone else think that the hands seem to taper away at the wrists? It could just be fallicies in the film, but there don't appear any other fade aways on the film. How odd...

ya actually you'd be surprised. i mean show him the pic and then ask him what the hands are and he can either say i don't know or be like o ya that was my nephew or my niece or something like that or if he's really old and losing his memory then it's probably just a kid. ???

Looks like the right arm is further round the waist putting a child well behind the bulk of the adults body. Good pic though :s01

looks like a fake cus both hands aren't at the waist, if u look closely the hand on the right side of the picture is on the arm not on the waist which can conclude either it's a little kid hidden a picture trying to get a comfy seat on the bench or that one hand is fake(the one at the waist) ant the other is a kid hiding trying to make it look like disembodied hands. but for any reason how can a disembodied hand look like it's holding on, that looks so freaking fake

why are the hands there, A. to scare people, B. to be a ghostly presence, or just C. a hoax

Its real in the act that it actually exists, but it is actually a toy, you can pick them up from specialist shops and from the net.

Geez.....the poor guy has an extra pair of hands......no really though, if they were his, he evidently isnt ashamed since he must of cut holes in his shirt so they can poke through.
