According to lore, they are similar, but have a few diffences.
Ki/Chi, manifests itself primarily as a physical energy that helps keep the body running and can do a few other things when channeled correctly, like aid another person in healing, ease pain, detect illness and the like. Usually used for healing/medical purposes.
Psionics are different in that according to lore they seem to come from the mind and are powred by the will of the person, not the body. Also, with the exception of various forms of psychokinesis, the powers are primarily mental in nature, most notably including precognition and remote viewing.

I agree with Rhomphaia, I think that is a good explanation of the two energies.
I had always thought of Chi/ki and Psi as two different sides to the same coin. While they have differences, they are still connected as a whole.

I never knew if they were different or not.

Are, they seem to be different to each other in a very subtle way. For me anyway. It's great if people can control their ki/chi and psionics.
