How come the astronauts spacesuites protect them from radiation, micro meteorites and the temperatures?
It seems unlikely that a suite made of Neoprene,Goretex, Dacron and Mylar and fibers can do that.
These materials are ridiculous.
How can it be?
Whats wrong with this picture?

Well, look at it this way.
Millions of people saw a man walking on the moon.
He was wearing a space suit.
From this information we can then deduce that the space suit worked pefectly.

Makes one think though...it is an extreme enviroment.
Hard to belive that a improved divingsuite does the job.
How come the sun shines thru the windows of the Discovery and right at the crew?
No earth atmosphere to protect, only raw sunlight in space.
Sunbeams in space are leathal.
Explain that.

Yes I am, can you answer my questions or what is your point?
Seems things are accepted without any questions as usual.

Yes, I can, quite simply in fact. I was asking because it is something that can be found out on your own without a great deal of effort.
So, what exactly is it about spacesuits that you want to know first?

Start with the questions above, and please dont tell me things that can be found in the link I provided. It does not answer the questions, it made me wonder about this. I looked up the materials and it does not make sense.

Easy...
The visors are spifferifically<---My word) Coated with The Ultimate UV protection. The Space suits are made to prevent radioactivity, plus they are wearing a suit similar to a scuba suit underneath it. I know that the shuttle has lights... and also, I know someone who was at the Discovery Launch.

Alright then, in order:
Radiation: The first thing to understand is that the spacesuit isn't one single component, but rather several layered defenses against the elements that work in combination to reduce the effects of the environment. In the case of radiation, the mylar helps some, but another defense is the Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG). Designed more for temperature regulation, it also serves to add the protection of an absorbing layer of water to block the radiation. The Hard Upper Torso (HUT) is composed of Aluminized Mylar, which we already mentioned, but it also has layered within Neoprene and Orthofabric, coated Nylon ripstop and Fiberglas, again, adding more layers of protection. Then there are the secondary defenses, the Primary Life Support System (PLSS), the Secondary Oxygen Pack (SOP), and the Communications Carrier Assembly (CCA). These are, technically, equipment packs, however part and parcel of astronaut training is using them to hide behind when the situation warrants.
Micro meteorites: Dacron and Kevlar. The same things that protect tanks and armored vehicles from high-velocity projectiles. Don't mistake these for their body armor counterparts. The essential difference is the backing and the layering. A soldier cannot carry the thick plates used in the spacesuits that serve to support the bullet-proof material.
Temperatures: I previously mentioned the most significant factor in temperature, the LCVG. Basically, this is a high pressure circulation system that shuttles water around the spacesuit for the purposes of both absorbing heat and protecting against radiation. The side of the spacesuit in the shade dips to -120 °C, while the sunward side rises to more than 150 °C. By moving water from the hotter side to the cooler side, the suit keeps temeperatures from becoming dangerous.
There is also a secondary cooling system that is built into the 'longjohns, that the astronauts, which works similarly, but isn't as extensive.

Thank you very much for this, now I understand better.
If anyone has more on this feel free to post it here, Im interested.
Has the"windows" of the shuttle UV protection?
What kind?
Anyone know?
They seem clear.

Accualy the spacesuit becomes very warm inside and the water is cooled water ment to cool down the astroughnot (Spelling).
Also a spacesuit is not an improvised Diving Suit, anything that is 100% airtight can keep out water.
Another thing is there is very little radiation in the orbit they are in.

Also the majority of radiation in space is particle radiation. Most particle radiation can be stopped with a sheet of paper.

A small correction: milions of people saw FOOTAGE of a man walking on the moon.
If you wish to debunk something, then please be as close to the truth as possible.

It has now been proven that the video footage was not a hoax.

Then they and many others would be dead. Happy?
A really good answer.. wow.

I have found out that the suites are made of the materials that I earlier mentioned, but that it is of very thick layers and with more than one backup system, the weight is really great and the suites cost a 100million each.
The weight does not matter in the space.(i did not think of that)
Also found out that if a big enough micro meteorite strike an astronaut it goes right thru the suite anyway, that there is great risks everytime an astronaut makes a "spacewalk"
I still wonder about the shuttles windows and the sunshine.

Have you noticed that all the pictures of the shuttle have the Earth floating above it? The shuttle orbits with the top facing the planet, and the protected bottom facing the sun.

The sun clearly was shining thru the windows of the shuttle when I watched the live feed from nasa tv. the shuttle orbited the earth and the the top of the craft and the crew was exposed to sunlight lots of times every day.
Still no explanation

Optical UV coatings are transparent. The "darkness" of sunglasses has nothing to do with ultraviolet radiation. The darkness reduces the intensity of visible light.
Clear prescription glasses are often UV coated, and there is no discernible discoloration.
I'm not sure about space shuttle windows, but I believe that they are a laminate construction, and very likely one of laminates is a transparent UV inhibiting polymer sheet.

What exactly are you suggesting Kaj?
Perhaps every single mission into space was hoaxed?
Or perhaps you are just wrong?
Perhaps.
I just havent heard any explanation that I can accept 100%.
Why arenīt there ANY pics of the stuff "we" left behind on the moon??
I want to see such pictures..where can I find them?
The moonlanding proved not to be a hoax?? I am not convinced..
I do not know if it really happened but I am ready accept it if I see prove enough...
The statements of this made are poor..and just not even real explanations...it is just "it happened..dont be silly..." sigh...
I get that alot..even here...

Kaj,
Whilst I realise that this is an old thread, their are currently several Moon Hoax threads.
Please go to the Space and Astronomy forum, their you will find a pinned post which list 8 other moon hoax threads two of which are very active at the moment. I suggest you read through those and if you still have any questions on the subject ask them there.
I am going to close this thread, we really do not need it resurrected from the dead.
