Even though it is encased in Ice! Its a proven fact, wherever theres water, theres life. So, we can say, that the water in the polar ice caps of mars, has bacterial life in it. Flame me and I will debunk you Hard!

why won't nasa sent a rover to look at it
AlienChild
that's nothing new... take a look at this mars picture...

i agree with my bro johnnyboyc be cause ive seen mars in books and things like that and i saw little water streams and i knew it was water so i know theres life on mars for sure!!!!! alien.gif alien.gif alien.gif alien.gif

actually, those are trenches formed by rivers that ran through the surface millions of years ago.

I'd like to know too.

Maybe its a proven fact that on Earth, water always has life. But Earth already has life.

Not to mention that Ice and Water are two different things.

Easy, go find me ANY drop of water, and put it under a high powered microscope, I garuntee you will see life.

And this law should apply to Mars as well, its Rule # 1 in Astobiological Studies

Like T-Nemesis said - that's only a fact here on earth (not even here, but I'll let that pass). In space, or on another planet, it's a totally different thing.

It's a fact that water (H2O) always contains life, in the same manner that it is a fact that a car always has fuel in it.
aLiEn_GuY
thats a horrible analogy, water on earth ALWAYS has life on it.

Thats because we are on Earth, where life comes in all forms. If you get a piece of water, sooner or later parasites or microbes etc could enter it.

It is a horrible analogy, I agree. But it serves its purpose.

Does distilled water contain life? If not, that in itself is proof enough that the statement "water always contains life" is false.

We are not talking about earth, in case you missed it. On Mars, who is to say that the solar radiation haven't yet killed all microbes, ie life IF there ever were any?

Edited to add final 5 words
Raptor
Get a sealed container full of water, create a vacuum and make sure everything within the container is sterile. By your logic, life will spontaneously be created. If it was that easy why do you think hundreds of thousands of people every day ask how life came to be?

I would like nothing more that there be found life on Mars....But where is this proof you are talking about.

PS. Life will be found somewhere else besides just on Earth.

Thats an ignorant outlook you have there.
Rhomphaia
I really am sick and tired of all this nonsense about there has to be water for there to be life somewhere. This is both true and false. True that carbon based life forms need water to exist, but other types of possible life forms do not.
Let's take another likely candidate for a life form, silicon based chemistry. These creatures would be able to survive the hellish conditions on the surface of Venus, where the closest thing to water is the sulfuric acid rain that falls from the sickly yellow clouds.
Amyway, all that aside, where is your proof that where there is water there is always life? True, everywhere we have found on earth this is more or less true, but Mars, Europa, and where ever else are not Earth. Things could very well be different there. This isn't to say there isn't life there. This is just saying your reasoning is flawed.

so out of the thousands of other planets still out there ready to be discovered and such your saying were the only planet that has life on it? i find that bullcrap, bacteria is a type of life so if we find it on any planet thats called ET life wink2.gif doesnt have to be advanced like us or cats and dogs

More like millions. Seeing as we sitll dont know the extent of the universe, it's always possible that there are trillions of planets. Not to mention it's always possible that aliens exist on other bodies. Meteors, possibly even stars? Who knows, it could even be possible for aliens to exist in space itself!

Rhomphaia, I agree perfectly with what you said. The same can be said for many things. Just because water is needed on Earth, doesnt mean other life forms necessarily need it.
fallingalien
well, if that's the case, life is everywhere, even fire has life in it, everything is alive.
Night Star
I can't imagine that we are alone in this vast universe! We are but a miniscule speck, a tiny part of it. happy.gif Surely there is life out there somewhere.

user posted image Ok sorry I guess there could have been life on mars!

I'm still waiting for anybody to be debunked hard..It seems the tables turned before they were even set into motion. As it already has been said, life on Earth may not be an example of all life in the Universe..We have no possible way to know that, logically..
If there are indeed bacteria and microbes on Mars though, it's not like that's some far out idea that nobody would ever believe..My fear is though, that if that were found to be true, cranks would use that very small sign of life to expand on their ludicrous theories of Great and Powerful Ancient Martian Civiliztions..
I'm sure some people reading this thread are even planning to do so right now, even before anyone has presented any solid proof of the basics of life existing there..

What I love about this is the fact that he uses the word 'flame' like that is what he thinks of an opposing point of view.

Well think up the wildest most improbable hypothesis you can possibly imagine...And then go have a beer. All that thinking was hard work wasn't it? you deserve the reward!

"I will debunk you hard!"

Apparantly there are varying degrees of debunkification.

Flame me on "debunkification not being a word and I will debunkify you hard!!

My lord, this is a sad topic.
Water does not mean life,
Life does not mean water...
You haven't proven anything.
We already know there's water on the moon anyway..

Im absolutely certain that the BBC reported water was found on the moon, around 6 years ago. I will search the website now...

EDIT: Couldnt find it on the BBC, but I found several other things. http://physicsweb.org/articles/news/2/3/5/1
Megalomania
Well, I'm know water's been on the moon for quite a while, so yes.
We have known that.
They first found water on the moon.... I think... 2001
Putte
Ah, my bad. I misread the message from NASA. I stand corrected.
