Hello people,

I am new to this board, but have been a ghost hunter / paranormal investigator for a long time, mostly specializing in Ancient History and Worldy Religions.

However, when I was just a child, around 7 - 9, I always had a dream where a man would come in and take me down the stairs from my home and put me in the bed with my parents. At the time, the dream never meant much to me till later.

When I was 15, and we had moved about 5 years ago, my mom told me the story of how our old house was haunted. Our dog barked at the stairs, and my younger brother often said " The man upstairs doesn't want me there anymore " , as well as when my mom told him to go and brush his teeth, he would reply " The man on the stairs doesn't want me there".

In my dreams, it seemed as if he didn't want me in that room as well, also, sometimes the dreams would be quite violent, in the sense he would rip me from the bed, and more or less toss me down the stairs.

This has always baffled me, and I was wondering if anyone else seemed to of had ghosts invade there dreams, mainly specific people that you know may of died in that house or location you were currently in.

I just thought it would be a very neat ability if ghosts were also able to invade our dreams, and give us signals that way.

Yes, me and my mother both. Mine do not always take place where I am currently living though. I have sometimes had dreams that have to do with other buildings and places. My mother only had those experiences in one house. This house was known to be haunted, but most of the activity focused around one room. It was a very negetive feeling in that room and my mother never really wanted to go in there. In her dreams, the ghost was always trying to get her to go in the room to show her what happened, why the room was "bad". She never found out though, she didn't want to go in the room so she would always make herself wake up before she was in the room.

By the way, welcome to UM original.gif

Thank you Eva, Im glad to of joined, and I hope some of my experience and professionalism in these topics will help other people as well.

Thats a great story, and sad as well. Perhaps the ghost was hoping you could help in some way. However it can also be tricky, a lot of mischivious ghosts will suck people in to such things, and then torture the mind. I believe your mother did the right thing , generally, if it doesn't feel right, don't do it.

I know thats a hard motto to live by, specially in this line of work, but I have gone to certain haunted sites, and as soon as I walk in, I feel very, very un-welcomed, and Im not a person to push or threaten spirits, cause that's not gonna help anyone.

I have never had this dream since I was a boy, and actually just yesterday, I drove by my old house, which was turned into a University Residence. I hope to return soon, and ask some of the students if they have had any dreams, or seen any kind of spiritual activity.

Actually, up until recently, about 75% of my dreams involved ghosts in one way or another.

I have always thought that if you have a dream and family member that just passed is in it that it was just a case of remembering that person, Is that true or do they usually want to tell you something. I have had many dreams with my nephew that passed in 95, he was 7. In the dreams he is as he was before he passed. And now that my father has passed I am having dreams with him in them. Could it just be a connection that I have with them?

I've had precognative dreams, but no ghost dreams. Oh, Welcome new person! I'm new here too. Look forward to hearing about your investigations! wavey.gif

I'm not so sure about ghosts invading dreams..If you think your house is haunted or believe there's a ghostly prescence around you, or even if we take that thought farther and say that there actually is; then it seems very likely that your subconscious mind would betriggered into dreaming about ghosts also..
Therefore, how could you logically tell where the reality of that began and ended?
Especially given the numbers of people who suffer from Sleep Paralysis, Sight Terrors, Somnabulism or just mild sleeping disorders..
All of which can have extremely unsettling side effects that could further convince you the Supernatural is at work within your dreaming mind, or even convince you that you have a Ghost in the waking world..

That is hard to say, I have had a friend who has dreams of family and friends passing right before they do, and that is kind of freaky, but since in your situation they have already passed, you may just be remembering them.

I have to dis-agree, like I said in my post, I was between the ages of 7 - 9 when this man was in my dream. I have never seen him before, neither have I even heard of the concept of a ghost. However, when I saw pictures later of the previous owners of the house 40 years back, I was able to make that connection when I was 15.

Hello,
Yes, I believe I once had an Earth-bound spirit invade my dream and try to turn it into a nightmare.

The short version:

I was dreaming about vacationing in what looked like the Appalachians and was exploring a very nice house. (I have some really cool "house" dreams.) Suddenly, the dream turned much darker, and was essentially a "slasher" dream (think "Friday the 13th" or any of those bad 70's movies)..

I used to be a lucid dreamer when I was very young. I've tried to reclaim that by using some archetype manipulaiton. Basically, I "send" a manipulation to my subconscious through chanting or Wiccan archetypes.

(If I try to dream lucidly, I wake up. I've found that I can be lucid, and by, say, chanting and waving an athame, I can play the same game as my subconscious and manipulate the dream without waking up. I know it's little more than a psychological game, but it works well.)

Anyway, whatever it was seemed to be taunting me, trying to make me afraid, and different characters in the dream would suddenly turn on me. I just assumed it was a nightmare, and tried to deal with it as such.

So, in the dream, I closed my eyes (when I close my eyes in dreams, I tend to see spline renderings of things, and yes, even *I* think that's odd), and tried to expand my consciousness to the dream area to sense where this thing was.

That's when things turned odd.

I sensed a distinct "other" presence, and I immediately though, with a bit of panic, "That's not me!". I tried it again, and the other presence took control of another dream character and attacked. I actually saw it subsume control.

My intuition was essentially saying, "Wake up. Wake up now. Wake up right NOW." I managed to wake up, with it shouting obscenities at me.

I sat up in bed, quite awake, and saw a shadow standing next to my bed, it's "head" quite close to mine. It wasn't opaque, but it was quite noticable, and did not match anything from my dream (in appearance or relative position, no one was near me in my dream when I woke). It reared back and was gone, but I felt I was not alone, and quickly saw an aura a bit back from where the shadow was standing. I also sensed another presence, which seemed to be quite irritating.

Then, my intuition (or guides at this point) again was going, saying, "He's Earth-bound. Pray for his transition. Call his guides. NOW."

So, I started a Wiccan-style prayer, and I got a sense that he was annoyed I was no longer afraid, and was leaving. Again, my intuition, "No, he's Christian. Christian prayers."

At this point, confusion was beginning to set in (no more than 60 seconds had past since things started to get weird in my dreams), and I just started singing "Amazing Grace". That seemed to have an emotional impact on him. I was raised Catholic, so I started calling upon his guides, the love and redemption of Jesus, forigveness and peace, more guides (to get this spirit out of my bedroom at 4AM when I'm trying to sleep sleepy.gif ), etc.

Suddenly, I just stop for a moment, and a wave of peace comes over me. After the silence, I start singing the second verse of Amazing Grace, and feel, "It is done. He is gone." I've had to send a few other spirits, and I recognized the sense of "peaceful emptiness". Once the adrenalin wore off, I slept quite peacefully.

Yes, I'm sure many will think I'm schitzo or just a nut case, but I'm afraid that's not the answer. This was an isolated incident. Nothing like it has happened before or since in my 33 years.

Excerpt from my dream post in May 9 /2005;
I had a bizarre dream this morning and I woke up at 4:45 am. What I recall of the dream is that I was in a field with a church and few white houses that surrounded the church. I recognized the church and it was the one that I used to attend years ago. I changed my religion since I found Astronomy and Cosmology. Reviving my dream, I was walking around these houses and they were beautiful and the ground had grass. I walked into one of these houses and there was my deceased father sitting in a recliner. I also felt there was something else was in the house and I asked my father if we were alone and he said yes but it wouldnt go away. I began to feel this thing getting stronger ominously and closer. I went out of the house and I was facing the church across the grass pathway. Then very suddenly, something invisible had grabbed my wrists and lifted me high, above the church and the houses. I was having butterflies mixed with this odd fear of whatever was holding me. This "life" seemed that it wanted to show me that its all "true".. I rememeber seeing distant fields and it was a pleasing to watch. I turned my attention to whatever was holding and then abruptly I was returning back to earth . I could see my mother hanging clothes at the edge of the region of the church and the few houses. I was really hoping that she would see me, but she wouldnt look up. I went over her yelling but no words seem to come out. I softly landed in the front her. I woke up in a nightmarish facination and seen it was 4:45am on my digital clock in the dark. My parents are deceased for almost a decade.

My grandmother sometimes visits me in my dreams, usually to give me advice or warnings. I don't think of it as her ghost invading my dreams though. I think of it more as her spirit communicating with me from the other side.

I have heard of this happening.

You see, a while back there was a man in the neighborhood who turned out to be a child molester. Sometime in the 50's or 60's I think it was, a bunch of people burned his house down. The man is still considered missing, and some say he was actually in the house when it was burned down, but no remains were ever found.

A lot of kids in the neighborhood, mostly teenage girls, have reportedly dreamed about this guy. One girl who used to dream about him has died.

Oh wait....

rofl.gif

Azalin, I'm guessing that you dreamed this dream because you kept hearing about the man on the stairs. As for going back to your parents' room, maybe it's some kind of subconscious problem you used to have with not wanting to be on your own. This is just my guess as to what a psycologist would say.

But then again, how does that explain your kid brother talking about a man on the stairs? Maybe he heard you talking about it, and decided to mock you or use your story to get out of brushing his teeth.....

I don't mind if you disagree with me on this Azalin..That's pretty much par for the course. tongue.gif But logically some of what you said doesn't make sense. For one, none of us dream exclusively about people we know, all sorts of random strangers pop up in our dreaming mind..
I also find it very unlikely that anybody can ever make it to the ages of 7 to 9 without a person ever hearing of a ghost at least peripherally..That's not saying it isn't possible, but I've never seen it happen..
Also I find that seeing a picture a few years after all this, it seems entirely likely that you could have taken some general features from a picture and associated them with the dreams you'd been having..I'm not sure if you still had them at this point, but it becomes even more likely to happen like that if you were seperated from that experience by a distance of a few years..
Now understand that I'm not trying to tell you there wasn't a Ghost in your dreams, I'm just saying that the possibility exists that there wasn't, is all.. Especially when you apply some deductive reasoning to it..

Well at the age of 7 - 9 I really don't remember much aboust ghosts, even if I was taught about them. I must of been even younger, cause I moved out of that house when in Grade 2, and I would of been 7 at that time, and the dreams happened before then, so maybe when I was 5 -6.

I had never seen the man, and the dream made no sense, and of course being at that age, I never told my mother about the dream at all. To this day, I find it kinda strange that I can recall that dream, I don't know many people that remember dreams when they were that young.

And no, my brother did not make up the story, he would cry and wail sometimes when sleeping in that room, in fact my mom would have to sleep in there with him a lot of the time cause he would never stop crying. There are many other symptoms that happened with the house that I can get into, but the main topic I just wanted to covered was the dream issue.

Hi i've had similar dreams with one dream in particular. I had one last night and what gets me first is that i;ve never remebered my dreams. So why would this stand out?

It's a white house paint peeling with a wooden front door. Inside the floors used to be hardwood...now falling apart. I am with some adults and a couple kids getting ready for a bbq when a little boy (who is part of the party) comes out looking a little white. We ask if he's ok. My dream then jumps to a part where we are sitting on the deck of the house and the boy looks at me and says "no i'm lost."

The adults go into the house and sit down to discuss what this means. Then the girl we are with is also possesed by this ghost. She says we don't know what we are doing. We take her out of the house and shake which seems to work. She is very tired.

Two of us go back into the house to get the boy, there is suddenly a bed and the boy is laying on it. We say that the ghost can't be much older than 6 or 7. The boy sists up and says no He's 9. We ask him what he wants and y he is doing this and suddenly i wake up. Is there a reason why i would dream this and most of all remember it?

Any help would be greatful. Thanks (ps. I am new here too.)

I've always wondered wether or not a dream of mine was visited by a spirit.

THE DREAM:
I was lying in my bed just staring at the ceiling (in my actual dream). Then all of a sudden an extremely bright light (white) filled the room it hurt my eyes, it was followed by a high pitched ringing. Same type of ringing people get every now and then in the ear, it's hard to explain. Anyway the light slowly faded but the ringing was still there, i could see a face (only a face) more or less floating beside my bed. It was a face of a female she had red hair and white skin. The features weren't clear for some reason. She spoke to me and said only one sentence "Your love will set your fears free". At this point of time I am very very scared, my heart was racing and I was shaking. Then as quickly as she appeared she was gone. Also she was hard to understand when she said that.

After that I woke up and my heart was still racing, deep down I knew I didn't have anything to fear of her, I couldn't help it. That dream happened to me 5 years ago and I still remember it clear as day. I've had alot more dreams that I felt that same feeling of fear, as though someone is in it that isn't normally. Unfortunately for some reason I've never been able to overcome that fear and now the dreams have stopped. In a way I wish they came back, they made me feel lucky!

P.s. has anyone heard of this phrase " sauyi nori utta dori" I wanna know what it could mean.

PPS my first time here would relly appreciate views and comments thanks

Hello everyone:

Interesting thread Azalin. I have had this experience to an extent. When I was 17, I had a dream where someone was "showing" me an accident. They were telling me even though it was going to be horrific, in the end it would be okay. A week later, my father was killed in a plane crash. And even though it was a horrific ordeal for my entire family, issues later were worked out and okay, not going to elaborate on details.

I have had a few more of these kind of dreams, I cannot really tell you the content, because I don't know. They are strange, it is liking dreaming, but I am in a fog and I know someone is trying to tell me something but I just cannot hear them. Something usually pretty significant ends up happening within the next week, not always bad either - most of them are good.

I did have an experience at the home we moved from two years ago. There was always "something" watching me from the doorway of my bedroom. I had the feeling it wanted in and for me to leave, but was not allowed to leave. Once in a while I would hear someone call my name into my ear and I would wake up. No one would be there, but when that would happened I could feel an uneasiness from the doorway. I'm an adult, but lemme tell you, I felt like a two-year-old running to turn on my bathroom light so I wouldn't have to sleep in the dark! tongue.gif

Good Post!
Azalin
Thanks for your Story Amy, it's strange how we can sometimes dream these.

To elaborate a bit more on my story, I went to the museum in my hometown, knowing that the house I grew up in was one of the oldest houses in my town. As it turns out, there was an old couple that did in fact live there.

The mans wife, had passed out, and drowned in the bath tub. The man overturned by grief, took his own life in the room, which was turned into my bedroom. It was kind of un-nerving to read this, but there it was. I would like to do more re-search on this.

The house now has been converted to a University Residence. I've wanted to go their and ask people if they have ever had any disturbing problems with the house. The only thing I do know, is that when we moved out, the house was sold 7 times within a 3 year period, and it was a decent home.

Hi Azalin:

That would explain a lot. I am a firm believer when something as tragic as that takes place, it leaves a residue - especially a violent suicide. I sincerely believe (some may get a laugh from this), but if we stay Earth-bound after death in cases like this, all that despair, sadness and grief can turn you somewhat "insane".

Think about this, if the older gentleman had not killed himself, but stayed in that house with the same despair and grief day in and out and on top of it, shut himself off from the rest of the community. That would drive anyone a little off balance. It sounds like maybe that could have happened, except that he has died.

You could always try calling the kids who are now using it for school to see if you could possibly set up an interview. Usually, people at that age are more than willing to participate, unfortunately though, they may also "stretch" any truths a bit for the notoriety....

This has happened to me for years – although it’s stopped now. As a child, the cousins were very close and I’d spend a lot of nights over at their house, which they’d lived in since before I was born. In high school, I even lived there for a semester when my Mom was sick. When I was about 15 or 16 though, I’d occasionally have dreams of being there and an old woman ghost would be sort of in the background. This would happen every month or so, just some dream taking place at their house with an old woman ghost in the background. Well, when I was in college, for some reason, in one of those dreams I turned to where she was standing on the stairs and said “hello” A couple months latter, in my next dream, she spoke. Over the years, I would dream of the house every few months (maybe 3 or 4 times a year) and my speaking with her progressed – but was never full blown conversation. It felt difficult too more of a struggle then dreams usually are.
Until about 2 years ago when I had a dream that I was there, but I felt like she had called me there. There was man with her. He was about her age, maybe a wee bit younger and he seemed a bit confused or disinterested and she said to me that he was what she had been waiting for and she was going now. I had a feeling it was her son and she’d been waiting for him. It was a good-bye dream. I’ve not dreamed of her again.

The only time I've had ghosts visit me in my dreams was after the death of my dad and also after the death of a very close friend of mine. Both times they visited my bedside and told me not to worry and that they were fine. Now whether they actually visited me, I don't know. It may have been my way of dealing with each of their deaths. Either way I was comforted by their presence and it helped me through those difficult times.
