Curl your eyelashes, pressing firmly for about 5 seconds. Apply your mascara, sweeping the brush out to the side (towards your ear). This makes your lashes look longer and nicer

keep your makeup and moisturising creams especially eye creams, in the refridgerator, especially if you live in a hot country, i dont know the ecact scientific reasons but it makes applying them better and more effective than if you leave them to go runny from the heat.
also drink plenty of water, clean your face in the morning and before you go to bed and keep drinking alcohol to a minimum otherwise if you're like me you end up with great black circles under your eyes and get under the surface of the skin spots.

Hair straighteners work wonders. It makes your hair look shinier and less prone to frizziness. To help lock in shine after you use it on a section of your hair, twist your hair and leave it that way until you finnish also apply a de-frizzer.
Also I'd have to stress eating a more balanced meal instead of fad diets or low fat diets. Not only is it easier to stay on but it's healthier. Cut back on soda and sweets but don't deny yourself them, it doesn't hurt to consume them once in a while. If you make a food off limits, you want it even more.
Exercise, which of course is a given. It doesn't have to be tiresome to work, also you don't have to spend hours a day doing it as long as your regularly active and eat right. I've had great results from working out 3-4 days per week for only 20 minutes a day.
Use moisturizer before applying make-up because it helps it glide on smoother and makes your skin soft.
Black circles under the eyes can also be caused from thin skin, which the skin under the eyes is naturally thin and thins more with age. Vitamin k and concealer helps to aid this.

I run cross country, I get in about 30 miles a week. I suggest running distance, even though you may hate it at first like I did, but it's really an all body work out. Start by running one mile, and when you get your time down to 6:40 on good days, run two, then three, etc...
I also drink like half a gallon of water a day. That really really helps. And be sure to increase your carb intake because you burn tons of it when you run. You lose about half a pound of water for every mile, I believe...
I usually run about a 7:00 mile as a warm up, stretch for about ten minutes, drink some water and let it settle, then it's about 5 miles, nice and slow.
But don't run too much too fast, you will develop painful shin splints that will not go away for an eternity... In fact, I have a shin splint on my left leg now. Another thing, be sure to do 'toe lifts'. It's kind of like leg lifts, except with your toes. If your feet are not strong enough when you start running, the area between the bone and the muscle all along your lower leg will get inflamed. The muscle will then proceed to seperate from the bone and it will hurt like crap.
Running cross country makes you beautiful!!!

That is helpfull eveningsky339! I do cross country every winter, but I never keep it up for the whole year. I am going to start doing it properly now, whilst improving my sprinting abilities more.. I hate running at the slow pace I use to run in cross country!
As for drinking, I have 3 litres every day. And I sleep well - go to bed at 10:30 - 11 pm, and wake up at 8 - 9

my health/beauty routine goes like this:

wake up at 6:30 am, do 10 sit ups

have a low fat breakkie which has to have atleast 1 piece of fruit and a green tea (no sugar)

wash face, brush teeth and har, don't use anything in hair, don't wear any make-up

go to school and spend most of the day walking up and down stairs (my school is built on a hill) have salad for lunch

get home at 4:30 and either take my dog for a 5km walk or go to work.

practice my karate for about an hour (or if it's a tuesday, train for 2 hours)

have a REALLY healthy dinner (with lotsa veggies)

take a shower (use soap free products and moisterizing hair stuff)

wash face again, brush teeth and go to bed at about 10:30pm.
that has been my usual daily routine for a while, and i haven't needed a doctor since i started

I heard that if you change your shampoo once every two weeks that it helps your hair. Also use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of build up. Follow with a conditioner.
I personally use Daily Renewal 5X. It does wonders for a person with dry hair.
My hair is course, dry, thick, and curly, and needs this special attn.

That is just a myth. If you are using a good shampoo and conditioner then you will not have to switch it unless your hair needs change. Often a lot of the "over the counter" shampoos (the ones you can buy at the drug store) build up on the hair and that is why you feel that you have to clarify. I advise going to a professional and ask them what is the best professional shampoo for your hair type.

Here's an oldie, but cheap goody...rinse you hair in a tablespoon of vinegar mixed with a cup of water every two or three shampoos. It takes all the buildup of hairspray, gels, whatever off and leaves your hair shiny.
No need for expensive clarifiers.

That again falls under getting a good shampoo to begin with. If you can't get the build up of styling products off your hair than lather twice. If you are still having problems than you need to switch styling products. Vinegar is
not good for the hair and can dry it out.
I should mention that I am a licenced cosmetologist.

I am sorry, I did not read that it was "cost free" advice you were looking for. I am not trying to be mean to anybody. I just like to help people take care of their hair and skin not only for now, but also for the future, that's why I went to school to do what I do. we have our bodies for the rest of our lives and what we do to it now will effect it later. I am sorry if anybody found me offensive, that was not my intension.

For those of our friends who are a little chunky, or over-curvy, here's my tip. All you have to do is identify what parts of you you would like to tone, and constantly keep that area flexed. Eventually that area will loose fat and build muscle. Believe me, it works. Enjoy

Kismit
Aug 16 2005, 09:50 AM
Actually, this is what I do for a living. Cocoa does contain anti-oxidents, but so do fresh fruit and vegies. They also taste better than straight cocoa, and don't contain the fat of chocolate. So still the arguement stands for eating properly.
