Tonight it has failed for the gazillionth time.
I hate it.
I want to smash it to bits.
I think I should get a different brand, except I haven't got the cash for that.
I hate the bloody thing, deletes all my songs randomly without explanation - piece of crap.
Anyone else feel this way about their iPods?

Did you just insult an Apple product? Quick buy a shotgun and head to the mall because their zombie army will soon be upon you brandishing $70 service packs.
Just take it back and demand something from Creative or alike.

I got one for Christmas, used it once, took it back, bought something cool.

It says I have to restore, but I can't cos it won't mount.
Looks like I'm gonna have to take it back anyway. My guarantee says that they will fix it or give me a new one.
I've had the ipod for over a year now, so at least I'll be getting one of the new ones if I have to get a new one.
I'm p*****d off though, I shouldn't have to keep doing this, stupid ipod.
I don't think they're gonna give me the money back so its that or nothing.
I'm really annoyed also cos I copied my french lessons on to it cos I wanted to take some on the bus tomorrow, but cos it won't work, I can't do that either - so now they're ruining my education too. B******s!!!!

Well unfortunately you can't fit stacks of music onto a cd player, and they are of course bigger and more inconvienient. But you're right, at least I wouldn't have to put up with all this s**t

My cd player is just big enough for the cd, weighs almost nothing and has roughly 90 or so hours of battery life on 2 AA batteries. It also has a built in .mp3 player so you can burn them to a cd and have up to 180 songs on one cd.

You should bring it to the store and keep on writing Apple letters. You will more then likely get a reply.

They don't know you are ticked, unless you tell them. I've seen it done in the past were the problem has been solved/tried to help and free stuff in the mail all over a simple letter.

To me, size really isn't an issue... I have big pockets

And they fit nice and snug in my messenger bag

I use my CD Player all the time. It has a built in FM Radio, so I listen to it almost everywhere I go. But when a good song doesn't play within my 4 favorite stations, I just play the good songs that I have on my CD
Janiel

I used to use CD player, but I got a nice little Mp3 player last christmas. Doesn't hold much, since it only has 128 mb space. But that's about an hour's worth of music, and good enough for me when I go on walks and stuff. I haven't had any trouble with it, either. So, if you don't want a bulky CD player, just get a small mp3 player.

P.s. I've avoided Apple since I had a Power PC. Haven't been happier.

If you don't absolutely need your entire music library with you wherever you go, a small MP3 player, as Janiel suggested, would be the way to go. They can't fail you, but certain ones may stop working after a while. Which isn't that great of a deal, since they're somewhat inexpensive.
Apple should replace your iPod with a photo. You could give that a chance, or use it as an external hard drive.
By the way, what exactly happened with your iPod?

Get a portable minidisc player, I got one, it is lovely dovely, and now with the new bigger minidiscs with 1Gb per disc you can stuff even more music on them. Ninidisc players are nearly as compact as MP3 players with a harddrive, but with the flexibility of using diffirent discs.

Aug 11 2005, 03:37 AM
And they look tight too! Only problem: Those discs are usually expensive!
Pannkakskungen
Aug 11 2005, 07:20 AM
Yes, quite expensive, mine got the old discs though, but the good thing is that you can re-use them lots of times. Depending on the compression you use you can fit quite a lot of music on one of them new 1 Giga discs, I can get about 5-6 hours worth of music onto one of my discs, on about 180 Megs of space.

I have a Dell DJ mp3 player, and I admit I have had my share of problems. The first one I had, the headphones insert broke, so it messed up the sound and you couldn't hear music. Luckily, it was in the warranty period (like.. the end of it
My brother has one, and he had to return his because it locked up and deleted his entire music library. Same thing happened to my friend, who also owns one.
Now, the one I have seems to work fine, and as long as it continues, I'll not have any problems.
I really doubt I could go back to a CD player though. I'd miss the 20 GB space for music, and to backup stuff (Yeah, it can backup pc files

)
Anyway, my thoughts

I have an Ipod too, and I think I also have a problem. I will charge it for like 10 hours(exaggeration), but then I'll use it for like 20 minutes, and half the battery is already gone, yet the battery picture thing said it was full. ITS CRAZY.
TaintedDoughnuts
Aug 12 2005, 11:28 PM
Ah yes... The reason I will never buy an IPod... The battery. It can only take about 370 deep charges(completely dying out the battery and recharging it) before the battery becomes useless. You have two options: send it to Apple for repairs($95+) or replace it yourself(around$45)

Apple recently lowered the price of the battery replacement cost from $99 to $59, which isn't bad since you no longer have to void the warranty by taking the iPod apart and replacing the battery.

How much would it be to get a shuffle's battery replaced? I'm just curious because I kinda want a shuffle. They are just so awesome!

Aug 13 2005, 06:16 PM
I have no idea, actually. If the cost for the shuffle is the same as the others, that's kind of a rip-off. I'll call and ask Apple sometime this week.

The cost for a shuffle is $99 for a 512MB(120 songs), or 1GB(240 songs) for $129, which is fine for me.

Aug 14 2005, 02:31 PM
Yeah, but with the shuffle, from what I understand, is that you can't pick your songs, it just makes you listen to whatever it randomly chooses.. That'd make me very annoyed. I like the choices of my dell dj, shuffle it or play what you want
TaintedDoughnuts
Aug 14 2005, 05:16 PM
You can put your songs in an ordered playlist, and play it in order, but for me, since I listen to mostly Japanese and Techno, I really don't mind about the whole random song thingy

Guess I'll be saving my money up for a shuffle instead of a PSP

And I am really a person who looks after stuff..

I went to the Apple store today and asked about the iPod Shuffle battery replacement cost. It's the same as the others. But you could always buy a cheap battery and replace it yourself. The battery should go for a year before having to replace it, so you wouldn't be voiding the warranty.

My brother hates his Mini iPod and it has broken down on him a couple of times. But I think any Apple thing is better than nothing. I'm getting a Mini iPod at the end of this month cause I don't want to have to delcare all of my CD's at YVR when we go on vacation this October.

I have a creative nomad and it quit working this week after only having it since January. I am so pissed about this thing. It worked great up until then and now it's not worth using as a paper weight. So it's not just IPODs, we all have our issues with products. My sister has an IPOD and has never had any trouble with it.

I could not be happier with my Creative Zen Nomad Zen NX. 30gb for 250 dollars. It works great (I have had it for two years). My sister has a 5 gb Zen Micro, which I highly recommend. 5 gbs isn't enough for my collection, but works for her. It is only $175, it is smaller than the ipod mini, and has a built in radio.
