I was just wondering if anyone has seen the new Penn & Teller show called Bull S**t that is on Showtime? They had a great one about conspiracy theories and man the people they interviewed were completely crazy. I thought I would reccomend it if anyone hasn't seen it. There are lots of other topics as well. You should check it out if you get a chance. thumbsup.gif

BLOODY EXCELLENT SERIES, every single one of them.

Definately get them if you have the chance

I saw the episode, but I wasn't very impressed with it, to be honest. They interviewed the author of "Painful Questions", Eric Hufschmid, and then said "If you see anybody with a copy of this book, push them down a flight of stairs". Not exactly funny to me. Then they show this moron drilling a hole into a Bible..

I'm not a religious type, but I find this denigration towards any religion to be disgusting.
Penn & Teller act like a couple of juvenile a-holes, thinking these things are humorous. I wasn't laughing.

I saw the episode, but I wasn't very impressed with it,

me neither it is crap--you know the guy desicrating the bible is the executive producer of the show who has been exposed by hufschmidt as having direct links to jewish gangsters that consider themselves zionists--the entire series contained creme puff issues that were easy to debunk-like bigfoot, ghosts and mary mother of jesus appearing on grilled cheese-until the last episode which took on a much more ominous tone as penn sadistically encourages people to push hufschmidt book owners down a flight of stairs--it dealt with three "conspiracies" the moon hoax camp,jfk,9/11 in this order --the whole series seems to have been created to distract attention away from these three events or associate these three with the likes of ghosts and aliens

I just thought the show was funny and the people they spoke with were very crazy. They chose some of the most out there people they possibly could. I never said I believed any of it to be true. Just that the show was funny. The part with the bible was a little much, I agree. But the guy making fun of Bush with the car, that was hilarious. I even like Bush and I laughed at that.
MK ULTRA
I saw the one about your new Patriot act and it seemed quite good.
I can imagine the piss takes out of conspiracy theorists, interviewing crazed wackos to make a mockery out of anyone who takes these things seriously.
Then Drilling a Bible to get people really annoyed,Ooooh, how contraversial and "out there",what a dick. The mans obviously crying out for attention.
I like Teller (the quiet one, much better magician than Penn!)and they've come up with some great effects over the years. But they should really just stick to Magic I think. thumbsup.gif

Exactly do you really need to take our cues from a guy who makes his living making fools out of everyday people with less knowledge than him?

angry.gif Yes, I agree that Penn and Teller and other illusionists should stick to stage magic and not pretend they know anything about science. I too like Teller best, and yes, he is the one doing the tricks most of the time. However, the illusionists are right about "mentalists." Some fake psychics rely on this old stage trick. Answer every question with a question. Make general statements that could apply to a large number of people. Keep up a rapid patter, and the audience will forget the numerous misses and remember the "hits" even if those hits could apply to half the people in the audience.

So what conspiracy were they trying to validate by drilling a hole in the bible? I've not heard that one before.

None. They're bigtime atheists, and they did another episode about how the bible is full of contradictions, dubious moral lessons and, well, BS.

Hmmm...well, debating passages and content is one thing, but just pulling a stupid gimmick doens't seem to prove much except they're aren't effective in arguments.

*shrug* Oh well, maybe I missed the context.

I have never been a fan of them, I think it's a shame that since they can't get a job in Vegas doing magic tricks any more they have to come on showtime and voice their opinion on every thing in the world like we care what they have to say.

I did however like the one on PETA... Those jokers are crazy.. Did you know that the lady in charge of PETA is a diabetic and has to use insullin to stay alive. You know where insullin comes from? That's right Animals.. And not only that but animals have to be killed in order to obtain the insullin.. I thought that was pretty ironic.. Anyways I digress!

actually they are live at thr rio in vegas, its a wonderfull show i love to watch

That show is kinda familar I think I saw it in the TV Times or somewhere, but I can't remember when. But it's interesting, but I don't think we get Showtime here at my house. It would be interesting if it was on another channel I would like to check it out.

I love Penn and Teller its one of my favorite shows. Skeptcs love them, believers hate them. The conspiracy episode was good but it wasnt as indepth as I would have liked. I can debunk conspiracy theories better than that. It was entertaining though and made some good points.

I noticed that they do take the absolute craziest people they can find for a topic. Im sure a lot of people here would be offended if they saw the alien abduction episode. They interviewed people who say they were taken to mars and stayed with a race of people who were a blend of all races. Another said that she had children with an 8 foot Reptillian! They also did a very, very good job showing how full of sh*t regressive hypnosis is.

The conspiracy episode was alright, but I didnt like how they got so offended by 9/11 questions. 9/11 needs to be fully investigated and some questions need to be answered. And I must also say that I, as a skeptic, believe the JFK assassination WAS a conspiracy. Overall it is a good show but the conspiracy episode could have been more indepth than it was.

I say to Penn and Teller- stick to your rabbit out of hat tricks. Dance monkey dance, that's what I'm paying for not lessons on theology.
