In the rolling hills of rural Dodge County, people might expect to see farm fields filled with corn and other crops, but if they look a little closer, there is something very different in one barley field. "The holes appeared and there it was but you couldn't see what made it, but I seen it right when it happened," farm owner Arthur Rantala said. Rantala witnessed something most people have only seen in the movies or on TV. From the safety of his work shed during a violent morning storm on the Fourth of July, he saw crop circles form.
"It looked like a lake. The waves, the wind blowing, and then all of the sudden this dark hole appears, like a black hole. And then immediately, one to the right then another to the center of it," Rantala said. Some might wonder if these circles could simply appear from some high winds or did they have any human help? "You don't think a board could have done this?" 12 News reporter Ryan Schulteis asked Barb Rantala. "No. How you gonna go around knock this down so flat is hasn't come up since? Cause it's broke,'" Barbara Rantala said.
"Or could it have been little green men from outer space?" Schulteis said. "UFOs? Let them think what they do, but I saw this actually happen so my eyes know what I seen. So I know it was Mother Nature and nobody else," Arthur Rantala said. The Rantalas told 12 News if people start to flock to these circles, they might start to charge admission.

Thanks for posting this one Angel, I've added it to the front page news.
What's interesting here is that this man claims to have witnessed crop circles forming by themselves, which more or less eliminates the possibility that these particular circles were created by people.
If this man is telling the truth, then this could be an indication of one cause of crop circles that is not yet fully understood. This could be evidence to support the idea that some crop circles are created by something other than a group of hoaxers hoping to get their picture on the local news.

Cynical old grouch that I am, I think this particular admission might harbour the truth about this story.
I mean, he's the only witness, his story is completely unverifiable, and once the whiff of money starts to pervade the scene...
I've got my doubting cap screwed firmly on my head with this one.

It's a good story Angel pshycic , only I have to agrre with the old cynic .
I am a little skeptical because the journalist insisted on making the farmer out to be a real yokel .

I believe this could have been corrected for grammer . Most farmers I know are actually highly articulate and the farmer in this story seems a little to steriotypical.

If I had a 'crop circle' I would charge insane amounts of admission, just to keep the lunatics away, and at least get some money from the rich lunatics....

I don't know enough about crop circles to believe this or not. It would be fascinating if true.

I do agree with Kismit on this point, though.

WEll as far as crop circles go, I do not think its little green men from mars doing it, but I also do not think all of them are made by men with boards. I think some are made by nature. With all the technology we have today there are still lots of things about Earth that we still do not understand. I am not sure if he really saw it or not, but thought the article was an interesting read.

He's the only witness, and considering charging admission? I agree with everyone else, I know some pretty articulate farmers, then again, I know some really stupid ones too, but that's another story. I dunno, nobody can prove he didn't actually see them form either.

I was actually reading an artical yesterday were an alleged crop circle was apparently created by bugs that attack the stem of a crop like wheat . Effectively snapping it at the base so it falls over and in mass forms patterns in the crops.

Cool, I had not heard of that happening. It would be ironic if after all the speculation on how it was formed from flying balls of light to ufo's to pranksters that it turned out to be bugs.
