i live in athens texas there are alot of local ledgends around here. i'll start with the pentagram that lies under the city, alot of people talk about it but every one i know that knows about it has never been in it so i decided to go, me and a couple of my friend went to fullers park, which is another story in its own, we went off the main drive onto a trail that leads back into the woods to one of the entrences to the pentagram. it took all night to go throught the entire thing but all in all it wasn't anything all that scary. there is a coffin in the center of it but we couldn't get it opened. we found five ways to get to the pentagram for anyone who decides they want to go through it, there is one at fullers park, one behind elder dodge, one at the country club in the woods, one at monkey cemetary, and one behind orielys autoparts.

My high school has a legend attached to it...

As a drama student, I spend a LOT of time with my fellow actors and techies backstage. As our school was not designed to have a real spacious backstage, most students hang out in the mass dressing room (usually just called The Mass). This room is like any other classroom on campus, except it connects to two back rooms: one you can walk through and stores props, set dressings, etc. The second room is almost never entered. At first, freshmen believe that no one goes in there because it is piled with bed frames and paintings and large set pieces that can't be stored elsewhere and have been left to collect dust in the inconvinient back room. However, as one delves into the history of the school, a far more interesting story emerges.

Students have complained of odd happenings in the Mass and connected back rooms. Sounds of voices where no one is there, things being moved around, books being thrown off their shelves, paintings mysteriously rearranging themselves in the back room where no one can reach them without a complicated climb over other stored items.

A while back, a janitor was killed (this we know as fact. The details around his death are sketchy though: some say he died commiting suicide in the school, others say he became really sick and suddently didn't come to work the next day..... or did he?)

Apparently, as the story goes, this janitor doesn't know he's dead. He has continued to come to the school for years after his death to clean up the messes the students and teachers leave behind. A few say they have seen him, including one janitor who used to work with him.

Not sure if I believe it, but the legend is thirving at my school. Especially with drama students..... could you imagine a more superstitious profession?

I live in the Netherlands, groningen to be precies, and we have a pretty creepy Urban legend.
There used to be a wealthy man, name escapes me, who loved children.
He was a sort of real live Santa Clause you could say.
He rebuiled his home into a play castle for the kids to play in.
This went on for years when one day one of the children complained about him.
The child said he had tuched her in an sexual manner.
Well the whole town went after him and burned him alive.
While he was burning people say he uttered some words in an unknown language and died.
Preciselly one year later people started finding mutelated bodies of children, first one was the girl who complained about him.

The bodies where ripped to pieces and where missing some organs, some missed their eyes, some there hart, some there lungs, etc, etc.
People say that it was/is the spirit of the man who came back for vengeance.
This story has been going round for about 150 years here.
Some even think that the decendents of the town people are still cursed. (premature deaths, bad luck, mental illnesses)

Still creeps me out to hear the tale eventhough it probally is a tale to scare kids.

Crowell, Texas. Lets see....Where to begin....Okay, there is an old grain mill with a faint face on it. people say its a ghost or something. But the truth is that its an old picture that used to be up there. She (the face) was also on the old flour bags.
And supposedly there is a system of tunnels under the town once used for moonshining. And the area of old hanging tree is said to be haunted. Its freaky. You hear moaning noises in the distance. I've heard them myself.

A preety woman would always go to dance clubs, leaving his son food in the fridge and come the next day, but one day she forgot to leave food,
and she left, the kid was so hungry he ate ashes form the stove,
and he got really sick, when the lady got back she didnt tell no one
and an angel visited her ( or demon? i forgot ) telling her that she had to change, if not she would be the ugliest beign in the world... before midnight.... she went to dacne clubs again, and at 11 she rememberd that she had ot be back with his son, he asked teh man she was dancing with him, to take her home, he took her, but as they went THROUGH a cementery it was midnight, and teh guy told her, look theres your son! , and it was a grave with his son and the same year,
so why are you worried? and she turned so ugly that the guy died or sumthing cause he dissapeared and so did the woman,

The legend of Bruce’s Well at Kincase

Popular legend tells of how one day Robert I, the King of Scots, tired out from the constant fighting of a guerrilla war against the English and suffering from a painful skin disease, came to Kincase between Ayr and Prestwick.
Sticking his spear in the ground he sank wearily to the ground and fell asleep. When he woke it was to discover that fresh water had welled up through the sand. He drank from it and found himself much improved and he continued thereafter to drink from this well. It is said that he was so helped he that he endowed the site as a Lazar House or hospital for Lepers.

The legend when I was growing up was if you entered the ruined leper house walls at midnight on the night of a full moon you would wake the next morning with leprosy. Of course there was always a FOAF's big brothers mate who had heard of someone in the next street who had done just that and died of it. yes.gif

The Grey Lady

There is this old Tudor house in Tombland in the middle of Norwich which is supposed to be haunted by the spirit of the Grey Lady.

During the times of the plague there was a house and everyone thought that the occupants had died of the plague so it was locked up. Two weeks later when it came to pulling out the bodies they found bite marks on two adult bodies (generally thought to be the Grey Lady's parents) and it was obvious they werent made by any rodents that the house was infested by. Then they came across a girl who had human flesh in her mouth and it is believed that this girl still haunts the house and surrounding alleys.

When I was a little kid, one of my friends would tell about a local cornfield that was stalked by a one legged, one armed, one eyed man, named Sour. Evidently, if you walked through it at night, he would appear and hunt you down. I never confirmed it. I was too afraid it might be real. blink.gif

Gibbs Bridge in Sylvania, OH. is said to be haunted. The victims of a bad car accident are said to haunt this bridge. I have also heard from many sources that if you cross the bridge on foot and make it to the other side. The next day you come back and your name is written on the bridge. It happened to one of my friends. I went to the bridge with a couple friends out of couriosity and I could feel an evil presence there. There are also rumors that, the bridge is demon infested. I myself am a believer.

I live in a place called Mobberley, in Cheshire UK. About 5 or 6 miles from me is a place called Alderley Edge. This village is reasonably famous for witchcraft. From the Middle ages to this day there has been witchcraft taking place in the forest on a big hill in Alderley Edge, unimaginitivley called 'The Edge' (not U2's guitarist).

It dates back many many years to the time of King Arthur, i believe. There are several caves in the forests, which were once open to the public, but have been closed due to them collapsing.

Unsurpisingly, the forests and 'The Edge' are said to be haunted by knights, wizards and witches that have been eternally cursed etc etc. I've never seen anything like that, but it's a cool place and you should check it out if you're ever up here.

well this isnt where i live but its a pretty disturbing story. ok

There was once a girl who moved in a new area somewhere in texas, she made some friends there but she noticed they were all somewhat cautious around adults, especially men in their 30's and 40'. She thought it was odd but didnt really pay attention to it,
one day she was walking to school not knowing that school was called off due to heavy rainfall. She went to school and never came back.
what people say happened is when she got to her school and saw noone was there, she started walking back home and she was abducted by a very insane violent man who used to be a battle surgeon and he was dressed in a green surgeons robe and face mask and brought to a deserted WW2 hospital or sumthing like that, now the lights were all shattered and the halls were covered in blood, there was a big room which the soldiers stayed in, it was as big as a high school gym. So the man took her inside, stripped her of clothes tied her hands to the ceiling hanging 3 feet off the ground, then she was raped, again and again and again, then he nailed her mouth with staples so she couldnt scream and slowly cut her with a knife just so she feels pain but so she doesent die.
He left her hanging for a day and when the sun came up he came back and cut the rope and threw her on the floor, he got a sharp knife and cut a part of her breast off, then he cut her stomach so her guts spilled yet she was still alive, so he ripped all the staples with his bear hands then cut her eyeballs and threw her on the front porch of her parents w00t.gif

This is not a true story but if it was i would be very cautios about my young bro.

There's two local legends around where I live. The first one is that the third floor of the Fall River Hotel is haunted by the spirit of a business man who hanged himself right after his wife left him. The second one is one I know for a fact that happened.

There was this driver's ed teacher for our local high school who was always a little unbalanced. We're talking he'd literally yell, scream, grab students and remove them by force from his class room...The guy just had anger problems up the ying-yang. Anywho, one day he tells his friend he's gonna go shooting one weekend and he'd like to borrow this other guys .44 magnum because he said he never shot one before. The other teacher was an avid gun collector and he really didn't see a problem with letting this guy borrow it because they'd been friends for years. The same day that this teacher got the gun he went home and shot his wife in the face right in front of his two teenage daughters. When he went to turn the gun on his daughters though the gun jammed because he friggin bought the wrong caliber...The thing that I never got though was how the hell did the first bullet fire? It was a .44 and the guy loaded it with .45 caliber bullets. Weird..Anyways, no one has lived at that house for thirty years and no one really wants to anyways.

There's a house not far from where I used to live in Cambridgeshire, and when we were younger there were all sorts of stories about it. It's a small bungalow between Peterborough and Whittlesey built right next to an old hill fort, and part of the land around it seems to be cut into the side of the mound. The stories about it were that the hill fort is really an ancient burial mound and because part of it has been cut away the house is haunted. The fact that the house was empty most of the time, and the few people who moved in left within a short time helped the rumours to grow. I eventually found out the truth when I asked my mum about it. Years back the house used to be used to sell potatoes from (she used to buy them from there) and storing the potatoes in the cellar created a serious rat problem. The infestation that started has spread to the old hill fort next to it and it's very difficult to eliminate them all, hence people not wanting to live there.

There's a haunted site about seven miles south of the airport in my home town. It's an old grave yard with about thirty graves, many unmarked. The most recent of which is from 1930 something. In the area of the cemetary, you can hear things moving among the trees that sound like a person wlking and dragging one foot behind them. Occasionally, one can see green eyes looking at you from a short distance away.
A friend of mine and I tried to collect some EVP's there a couple of years ago. We didn't get any voices but we managed to record the sound of a train that lasted for about three seconds. The nearest train tracks are twenty miles away and the sound on the tape was loud, like it was right next to us.
Every once in a while some of the headstones appear to have a faint glow. It's never bright enough to shine, just a light, soft glow.

Somewhere in the swamp near where I live, there are supposed to be a large number of silver ingets scattered over a small area. A friend of mine told me that they were from the Civil War era but, I've also heard that they date to the founding of the town in 1835.
Supposedly who ever had them left them there when they were attacked and either they never found their way back to the campsite or were killed.
I've also heard that it was the Chehaw tribe of the Creek Indians who attacked the camp, killed the people there and not knowing what the silver bricks were, scattered them around.

Near the edge of the swamp, there is a brick wall about fifteen feet long with bullet holes in it. Behind the wall is a dirt berm that starts out as tall as the wall but, the further east you walk along it the smaller it becomes until it just peters out into the ground.
I don't know if this is the kind of thing that you're looking for here but, it's odd. It serves no obvious purpose and know one knows when, why or who built it.

My father, who was from West Virginia, told me about a place near where he grew up called "Pennicle Rock". It sticks up from the top of a mountain and has a sheer face on the vally side of it.
He told me that his father once told him about three men who repelled down the sheer face to some small cave looking for lost Confederate gold. When the three of them came out sometime later, all three of them had white hair, two of them never spoke again and the other one would just mumble incoherently for the rest of his life.
I don't know when this happened but, I assume it was in the 1920's or 1930's because the way the story was told to me, my Grandfather had actually seen the three men. Unfortunately, my Grandfather passed away when I was very young so I never got to hear the story from him.

Well, I guess I might also share something I've heard... it's acctually my girlfriends mum that told me this: You see they have a summerhouse on an islnad, which have a lake on it and yet another island in the lake (yeah, thats right tongue.gif). And it is said that during the war with Russia (around 1720) the ppl living on the island farming the land burried all their treasures on this island in the lake so the russians wouldn't get it. Well, some ppl say that there's a ghost on the island watching the treasure still. However, this is nothing I know anything about really, just this I told ya wink2.gif

Well here's one that also happened to a pretty normal guy (Steven), he's a homeless, drunk and insane now.

Next to where i live there's an old "abandoned" farm house, fenced off with gates and over grown foliage, in centre lies a rubble barely can be called a house. When steven was 18 he was told the urban legend of the old house, not knowing he'd be the one to expand. Anyway, this is what he were told, "There was a farmer, his mother, his wife and a little girl who lived in the house along time back, he was looking after his chickens when he heard some banging in the barn, earlier in the week he had been attacked by an intruder that had broke into it. So, he gathered his shotgun and slowly entered the house, it was very dark and creepy, as a figure jumped out he aimed his gun and fired, after the shock he looked down to see he had blown his mothers face off, as weeks went by the image and guilt of his dead mother slowly ate away at him, one night he lost it and killed his wife and cut off her face off and dug up the body of his dead mother and tried to see if the face fit, crazily he entered the house and strangled his daughter and cut her face off and put it on his moms face, he then layed next to his mother and shot himself." Steven dismissed this as utter Bull**** so he slept a night in the house, alone. In the morning he was found next to a car with 1 eye slightly cut and his eyes closed he later told everyone that everyone that when he looks he sees a little girl watching him and screaming at him "GIVE ME BACK MY FACE DADDY".

Steven was a very much normal chap before this and but now cries and stares at the floor whilst extremely drunk.

What do you think? Creapy. hmm.gif

Supposedly there used to be an "H" shaped tree on a cliff in my town that was torn down to make room for a housing development (developments are always popping up around here). It was said that this particular tree was one of three in the world, and if you went around it six times, you would end up in hell.

Sounds fantastic, i know, but one can never tell about these things.... ph34r.gif

A small charter company that used to be based at the local airport here had an airplane with "1313" in the tail number. It was always in the shop with something wrong with it. Brand new control surface cables would be installed one week only to be found snapped in a manner suggesting excessive wear a week or two later, one time without it ever having been flown! The compass would never stay true for very long. Even if a new one was installed. The company is now out of business and I have no idea what happened to the plane.

I think that almost every town has a stretch of haunted woods or an old building with a ghost. I'd love to take a couple of years and fly around the country, from small town to small town, to see and write down all these local legends!

I live in Fort Worth. There's White Rock Lake in Dallas (a half hours drive from here). It's suppose to be the place where the girl-in-white disappearing hitchhiker story is suppose to have originated from. Two Halloweens ago, me and three other friends decided to check it out. We drove up there around midnight (more like Eleven something o'clock). Well, we drove around the lake, didnt see anything. I saw someone jogging on the sidewalk that goes around the entire lake. THat kind of took the mood away.

Lots of big cats. The K**** Cougar, the N***** Tiger (just like the Tassie Tiger).
There is also a huge bushland near our old house, and that is full of strange things (mostly seen by the pot smokers who get their weed there).
Also at the local school is a toilet the flushes itself grin2.gif It is the haunted toilet. grin2.gif Poor ghost who got stuck with haunting that sad.gif . Especially since its the boys side thats haunted grin2.gif . We even looked into the glass at the top and saw one of the cubicle doors close by itself. It was during the weekend, and we tried the door, so we know there was nobody in there.

We have a haunted theatre, another haunted theatre, a haunted hotel (McMenamin's pub/hotel thing), and a haunted mental hospital (Fairview, if any of you have heard of it) and some other stuff, there are also supposedly a bunch of ghosts in Oregon State Hospital (where "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was filmed) bunch of ghosts, sadly no monsters or anything, although myself and a friend are attempting to start an urban legend about a haunted pipe in a local park, it actually makes noises and things and if there is a low level of water it sounds like you can hear whispering way in the back, but neither of us has ever gone in it, if anyone who read this lives in Oreogn near Salem, go to Bush Park, near the Jane Goodall restoration area, go listen to the bg concrete pipe that looks like it doesn't end...

I lived in Cambridge UK until recently. For those of you who don't know the landscapes in the 'East Anglian' region of the UK, it's just fens; very flat.
Just outside of Cambridge there are 2 really huge hills which look odd because the rest of the landscape is just flat. The hills are called Gog Mahgog Hills. They are now home to a Golf Club...

Local legend says that there were 2 giants (well, 2 very very tall people who lived in a little village nearby called Linton). The people were from the same family and were reputed to be over 8 feet tall. They were called Gog and Mahgog after some biblical writings as were most of the people in their families. I think Gog Magog is some nordic invader aswell.

A family argument ensued over some goats and Gog and his cousin Mahgog had a fight and killed eachother.

Legend goes onto say that they were too big to be buried in the local Cemetary (this was around the year 1300 and something) so they were laid out on the fens and covered over with earth, thus producing the two large hills.

You might say t'is all legend, but local geologists / geophysicists studied the hills in the mid 80's and declared that there are very large bones at the bottom of the hills. Their geophysics equipment mapped out the formation of 1 large human-type skeleton at the bottom of each of the hills.

The sad thing was that the local councils wouldn't give them permission to dig the sites as they had declared them local beauty spots or something so the investigating team couldn't prove their findings.

I like the thought of 2 giants being buried there...

Similar writings of local history around the same time record several extremely tall families living in Linton and surrounding areas outside Cambridge and some local drawings from that era depict giants in the local church dressed in their Sunday best.

Weird, huh!
