This topic may already have been posted but I have just recently bought an MP3 player and am looking for websites where you can download free songs. Can anybody help me?

There aren't many websites that have free songs to download. And the very few that do don't have a big selection. The best thing to do would be to download a file-sharing program to get music.

Try downloading
Limewire. It's free, legal, and you shouldn't have trouble finding any songs with it.

But people can take straight from your PC and I have heard you get lots of viruses with it. I want to get that though.

When you first run Limewire, you're asked to select a folder to use for sharing files. If you don't want people downloading files from your computer, just make an empty folder, and select it. That way, no one can download files from your computer.
You can only get viruses if you download dangerous file types such as .exe, .com, .bat, .pif, .cmd, .dll, .oxc, and .vbs. Safe file types include .gif, .jpg, .bmp, .mp3, .mpg, .mpeg, .mov, .avi, .bmp, .tif, and all other recognized multimedia formats. There's an option on Limewire that allows you to search for certain files. (Audio, video, images, documents, programs.) As long as you don't search for program files, you should be fine.

Yeah I use Limewire. But sometimes it's not really good for a particular song. I've been trying to find this one song for a very long time and I downloaded it twice. And both times the quility (sorry for the crappy spelling) was horrible. I had to turn my volume up max (yeah that's stupid) just to hear the darned song! And I can't find the stupid CD in HMV and etc. Yes Limewire and sites like that are good for certain songs but not for others. And I rather not go to those shared sites. For me they take too much time. Time I rather use for other things.

Once you download the songs what do you do with them.

When you first open Limewire, you're asked to select a folder for files to go to when they're finished downloading. When the file status says "Complete," go to the folder and open it.

Select the ones that are completed and click "Stop." And try selecting another folder for saving files. Go to Tools>Options>Saving.
