It appears that Nintendo will be making some large announcements soon. The Leipzig Games Convention in Germany is tomorrow, and Matt Casamassina has said in replying to an e-mail that he expects Nintendo to announce more about the Revolution within a week.

News

when will more revolution news be announced?

Matt responds: Shortly after the Leipzig Games Convention. I don't have an exact time frame -- it could be a day or a week, but I don't expect it will be much longer.

Another reader wrote in and asked:

In your last mailbox you mentioned that there would be more information about the revolution shortly after Leipzig. How educated of a guess is this?

Matt responds: I wouldn't call it a guess.

The notorious Seriousgamer007 has also said on the 16th,:

I will provide all the evidence you need to believe in Nintendo again before the end of the week.

Both of these sources say that more will come out THIS week. Granted, I have more faith in Matt than Seriousgamer, but both of them are saying this on the same day is very unusual.
It is also strange that these "guesses" coincide with news of the price drop of the DS and the The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess delay.

Revealing the Revolution at this point has pros and cons. The pros are, that it will help shift focus from the Xbox360 which will come out in November and that it will give gamers something to hope for and think about during the long wait for Twilight Princess. The cons are, that it may be too early to show off the Rev's controller, that Sony may copy some ideas because they are far from finishing the PS3, and that Nintendo or third parties might not have a lot of games being worked on yet.

Unfortunately, as usual, only time will tell.

I posted this on my game blog as well, which is linked in my sig. thumbsup.gif

Bernd Fakesch, spokesman and General Manager of Nintendo of Europe, opened with a speech that highlighted the company's commitment to innovating with games. Much like with the Revolution's unveiling at E3 this year, the enthusiasm for wi-fi gaming possibilities was echoed here too.

When asked for more information, he said, "The only thing I can tell you is that very soon there will be important news about Revolution."

So now, its official that the Revolution will be unveiled soon.
