I had no idea where to put this so I'll put it here
Does anyone ever hear their name out of the blue in a place with not a lot of noise? But nobody is there and it's not loud, it's kinda faint?
Cause I do sometimes and it's getting quite annoying
I think it is a sign that we all have telepathy.

Maybe it's Tinnitis?

Seriously.....you could be listening to a voice calling from the Astral plane.

I thought i was just a weirdo. Anyways i have had that happen alot i agree it can be telepathy and astral beings talking to you. I found out that i'm really good at sending my thoughts to other people. Only about 8 people i know can actually pic up what i'm saying but its pretty cool. Example... When i was 19 i came home from being out with a friend to a violent dispute at my house i was staying at. It was about 2 in the morning and i went to my room all upset because i apsolutly hate all violence and yelling. So while in my room i kept thinking really strongly for my friend mark( the one who i was hanging out with) to come pick me back up or call or something cus i wanted to go somewhere else for the night for peace. A while later he called and said he was almost home and had heard my voice clear as if i was right next to him say please turn around come back i need you come get me. It freaked him out but he got home and called. Now my boyfriend and i have the same connection happen often to. I think it has something to do with connecting to the same frequency or something who knows but its pretty awesome.

People who know you well, can pretty much deduct what are your thoughts and what need to be done. Now if they hear your voice while doing that, then you definetely making an impression with those people. You must be a right dominatrix !!!

THis happens to me a lot in crowds. I take it as being someone away from me who actually said my name (not to me specifically) and my brain just picks it up readily because we are used to listening for our name.
It's freakier when you hear your name being called softly in an empty room or when you are alone. That's been happening to me lately.

Maybe it's just that you're naturally attuned to hearing your name, and sometimes, particularly when it's really quiet, your brain will interpret background noise - 'white noise', if you like - as something that it thinks it recognizes and will think that it's hearing your name?

It's another terminology for the 'Spirit World"
Astral travel is when you have an OBE(out of body experience) and go out to the Astral plane or spirit world.

I have been upstairs before and thought my guy has called me...its not too quiet(the voice) and I realise it is not my guys voice...I even come downstairs to ask him what he has said only to find him in the garden.
I also hear someone whistle a lot as well(and my guy can't whistle)

I've had this happen a few times. I can remember my name being called once and twice I disinctly remember hearing "mom". The first time I remember standing at the kitchen sink. The kids were at school, the tv and radio were off and the windows were closed. I was completely alone when I heard a loud "mom" come from behind me. This was very spooky. The next time I heard it was after we moved and the kids were gone. The same kind of scenario, perfectly quiet and all of a sudden I heard "mom" again. I thought maybe I was having some kind of telekinetic response from one of my kids. I haven't had it happen for a while, so I'm probably due for one. I am the kind of person that sees and hears more when it's quiet.

I've only had this happen to me once and it was late at night when I was working late. I manage a retail store and was staying late to work on a floor display. I had walked back in the warehouse to pick up some boxes to bring out and as I was walking through I heard a man say my name. There was no one else there, as I had locked the doors myself. I looked all over the warehouse to see if a homeless person had managed to slip in during the day, but there was no one else there.. It scared me pretty good and I got my stuff and left. I didn't want to be there if I heard anything else.

I have had that happen a number of times, except that it isn't a soft voice . . . the impression I have is a fairly "loud" voice . . . and there is no one around me. It is always the same female voice I hear, which I don't recognize . . . and on several occasions when I was driving, the same voice told me to do something . . . like, "Stop now!". By doing as it said, I have on the several occasions it happened avoided a bad accident . . . which surely would have happened had I not done what the "voice" said, and an accident which I could not possible have anticipated any other way. Kind of scary, but a good thing for me those times!

HOLY FOCK, like... just 2 minutes ago, I heard a voice say "STOP IT DAVID" and it was my mom's voice, except my dad isnt home and she didn't say anything... I'm freaked out because it was quite loud, not like ear shattering, but like I could hear my mom yelling on in the living room (Which is kinda loud) since the living room is down a short hallway and to the right.

I ahve also had the experience of someone calling my name, or of a baby crying loudly, when noone was there but me.But the weirdest one was this...My grandfather commited suicide in the house where we lived. He shot himself. A few weeksafterward I was in the house alone. We had a number of guns there which were always loaded I walked up the stairs andjust before I came to the top a gun went off the bullet hit inches from where my head was. the gun was on a rack noone had touched it. 20 yrs later I still get the cold creeps when I think of it.

I've also heard voices, like when my kids are outside playing and I hear thay call me, MOM! and so I answer, but when I look for them (inside) there's nobody there, and it has happened several times at home and at work
matthewgoad
Aug 24 2005, 09:14 PM
So there's no way that they could be calling you from outside and you heard it inside? Was it too close to be that? I am just wondering, because like I said earlier that has happened to me before. Well not the mom thing, but something similar.

Last night I was sitting here on the comp and I heard out loud "Happens". I turned off the comp and went straight to bed. Its the first time I have experienced something in this apt! It was like a guy was talking to me aloud a couple of steps away.

I think these are all hallucinations. There is nothing like another voice calling. It is our subconscious that speaks all these.it should be shaken off.

I, actually, often 'hear' my name being called. Kinda funny when it happens with friends around, since they all stare at me like I'm outta my mind. But I think I'll lean towards 747's theory on this one, some kind of mental thing to prevent total silence. Though it doesn't always happen when it's totally quiet.
Megalomania
Aug 26 2005, 10:56 AM
I agree with 747 too,
Since I have a really common name (Alexander), in a room, even if someone whispers it on the other side of the room, I'll hear it, and look that way....
It's most likely a mental thing.

I have never heard my name called but if I did I would definately notice it. I dont have a very commen name. LOL!
But me and my mom definately have some kind of connection. If I am thinking about her she "hears" it. I have often called her when she was JUST about to call me and she has called me many times when I was about to call her.
I finish her sentences constantly and she knows what I am going to say before I say it.
We dont live together and we arent all that close. I mean, we are. But not like EXTREMELY close. She doesnt have this with my sister.
My mother thinks that my grandmother's spirit either entered me or hangs around me since she died 12 years ago. My grandmother considered me her "soul mate" even though we werent close and she wasnt the kind of person who could show emotions or feelings or anything, and I am her name sake. But I had been there for her during a really hard time in her life when I was a baby. And then I was there when she died. She left me with her death wish and an apology for my family. I dont know if this has something to do with how me and my mother connect like we do.
Many times my mother hears me calling her when I was only thinking of her. We have the same thoughts, do the same things. We go to the same places often times within an hour or so of each other. We have bad dreams and cant sleep well on the same nights. We both experience seeing "things" at the same time. Like shadow figures or people we think we see but then they are gone. And when that happens it lasts for days at a time. We get sick at the same time and if she has an injury sometimes I feel pain in the same place. It is almost like we are twins! LOL!
We havent had this always. Just, it seems, since my grandmother died.
We can be 3000 miles away and we still experience this.

1st of all...............astral beings cannot communicate with people......
so many people use the term astral far to loosely....
there is an astral plain, where spirits, ghosts, entities what every want to call them live this is another dimension entirely from ours....they do not interlock or mingle within eachother whatsoever....
however there are spirits, ghosts, entities which linger within this realm and they do as they wish, this is how things were before a couple hundred years ago when the astral plain was created...
the astral plain was created because spirits wanted a place beautiful and magnificent to go, a place not tainted by the impurities of the physical ... of industries polution and disruption in the environment.... now about the astral plain as far as i know physical people do not know much although i am sure a few people out there know a lot because of communication with spirits that have been there
as far as the voices go, it is most likely a demon effing with ur head, i would guess times this happens is when u r zoning out to some degree, not regular zoning out but if its true u will know what i mean, however it could be a ghost trying to get ur attention as u r doing something wrong in ur life or something at that particular moment, maybe something is going on around u that u are blatently ignoring and it is pertinent to your future. i would not shrug this off unless u feel a negative energy when these moments happen. if u sense negativity it is most likely a demon, if its not a demon and u feel negativity it could be a negative ghost or they are trying to yell at u because u r a bad person... and its not from the astral plain....
