For all of you who have watched Aeonflux, the animated series on MTV back in the day or have read the comics...You'd might want to see the movie coming out soon.

Trailer

That looks interesting

Was the animed series US or Japanese? I've never heard of it which makes me think American....... the idea that I could have not heard of a US-released Japanese series seems......... impossible huh.gif
endlessgirl
It's a US animated series...cool, huh? Charlize Theron was a perfect pick for Aeon's Character. She's so hot. lol
Talon
Hmm, I might see this movie. grin2.gif But I don't tend to go for US animation unless it has the word's Batman in the title
JennRose
Well, Charlize is going to be a lot more attractive than the animated version of the character. She was gross and sinewy. Uck.

Just saw the commercial, watched the trailer and it looks awesome! yes.gif
Shakezulah
I've never even heard of the show, but this movie looks really awesome. I've been seeing a lot of preivews lately, and I think I'll go see this in the theater.

It always used to play on MTV's Liquid Television in shorts, and then I think it moved to 30 minute episodes. They were REALLY bizarre.

i used to love that show.

saw the new trailer for this on MTV—the one where the first clip you see is the cartoon of a bug flying into Aeon’s eye and then you see the live-action adaptation with Charlize. As someone who appreciates the anime version, I thought that was a great way to show that the movie has the same spirit and keeps the integrity of the original. gonna go and check it out when it opens this weekend.....
BurnSide
It looks... kinda weird.
At first i thought all the action was pretty neat. But as the trailers flashed by, now i just think it looks kinda dumb. Why can she control metal ball-bearings and make them explode? Why is she wondering around slick labs in less than a bathing suit? And why is grass turning razor sharp and trying to kill her when she jumps on it?
I'm sure there are valid reasons. tongue.gif
Shakezulah
Of course there are Burns. I wouldn't say it looks dumb at all. It's a sci-fi action movie, what do you expect? It's not like you haven't seen anything more stupid before. I think this movie is going to be highly entertaining and kick ass. I'm going to see it friday when it opens up.
ICONvsICON
Aeonflux of Liquid Television kicked some major ass. I have high expectations for this movie. It looks good. And Charlize Theron was the perfect choice for the role. She looks great and the movie look like it might kick some major ass too.

Advanced weapon with computer chips in them, she is an assassin. If you watch the trailer and look around it is a bit more advanced then today's world. original.gif

Easy to move in (for fighing and sneaking around compard to a bulky outfit), less to get stuck on something and keeps the males in the theater paying attention. devil.gif

In the trailer they said she is an assassin in the society, so the grass is a security system for her mark. Either that or it is training, because she does have another person with her in the trailers.

I'm looking forward to this movie. original.gif

no one i know remembers aeon flux being on mtv, oh well, it used to play with the maxx, the maxx was a good show
JennRose
Well, it opens tomorrow and it still hasn't been screened for critics. That is never a good sign. That's reserved for the worst films--- they want to slide them in under the radar before awful reviews get to the public.

I saw this tonight. It was a really cool movie. Good story line, although a bit confusing until near the end. Good acting. Good action scenes, but it does, unfortunately, use a lot of the upclose shaky camera stuff that has been use in many recent action movies, but most of the fight scenes are pretty brutal and cool anyways. However, the ending wasn't so great. It's one of those"....so....that's it?" kind of endings. Things could've been explained a bit more, and there could have been a big final fight scene, but there wasn't. However, that was the only thing that seemed to bring this film down. So overall, it was very entertaining and visually awesome. 8.5/10

I'm going to see it tonight. My hopes aren't too high, but i'm sure i'll enjoy at least the flesh and fights.
I'll review it later.
Shakezulah
Cool. Hope you enjoy it. It's a really great and fun film.
BurnSide
Entertaining.

Contrary to popular opinion, i found the story itself to be one of the movies strong points. I didn't mind the ending, and the plot was decent execpt it was easy to see that in the hands of another writer it could have been lot better.

I rank it with Apocalypse. I did very much enjoy the movie, but it's not a magnificent movie due to it's open flaws including shoddy action-scene camera work and other unfortunate liabilities.

Did any other geeks notice the overwhelming contributions by the Final Fantasy series? I counted at least 6 FF names, that's no coincidence. And i was strongly reminded of FF8 through 10 at certain points.

i didnt really like the movie, it was good to me...but thats becasue i had a basic understanding of aeon flux allready...i feel that the movie did not explain enough of whats going on for someone to truley enjoy the entire thing

the movie was def entertaining though, and i would recomend it for a good time

i wish i knew more about FF so i could have noticed the similiarities, ah well
Shakezulah
I agree that not enough was explained, at least not until the end. I still really enjoyed it though. Burns is right, it ranks up on entertainment level with Apocalypse, except that this movie has a much better story and acting, but I prefer the action in RE. The action scenes in this were pretty sweet though. Especially the one with that woman in the library/lab place. Cool stuff.

Freya. happy.gif FF9!

Not bad, just finished watching it. Kind of blah at some points.

The shooting wasn't to real either to me, that many people shooting all at once is not clean.

Also, did you see the size of the guns the guards where using that shot Trevor? There is no way in hell the bullets would just magically be stopped by his tissue for Aeon to pull out. It was short range blasts, not a sniper shot from a billion meters away!

Also, in the beginning they showed Aeon blowing up a computer that logged everything for the goverment. You're telling me that her entire life growing up, the computer never picked her out as well as all the guards, and officals that saw the video feed in question?

The 4 snipers in the end on the towers, they were all firing pretty good, but that asian guy went to town and it looked like he was firing an automatic weapon, instead of sniping. With that brings up how did that Sithandra run out of bullets so quickly then? And how was he able to kill all those guards with a spread fire, instead of clean skills?

When Sithandra was shot with a bloody RPG by Oren, how the hell did she miss a moving target in a cleared field with little cover provided by the blossom trees??? She's a trained assassin, not some lady that just picked up a gun to look at! She must have known she only wounded him because she's the one that took the first shot into his back.

In the fight scene when the guards where after Aeon and Trevor, she picked up the time bombs, she only placed two down, right? The first bomb went off but both sides of the wall exploded outwards into the hallway, meaning plain and simple there was a bomb on each side. Then by magic another bomb goes off?

When Aeon and Travor were looking at the baby (Una)... Aeon handed the baby back to the parents, then the stun grenade with the bang came flying in. You're telling me that the happy family got out of there fast enough, when right away it stunned Aeon and Trevor, then blowing them through the walls? I'm sorry but unless you have the speed of superman, you'd be toast as well in that raid.

Would I see it again? Probably not, it was ok, but not good enough. thumbsup.gif

I saw this today with a friend. He thought it was brilliant, I fell asleep twice.
