Full Version: Is this Healthy?

The Negativities, Death(s), the feeling of tension of someone that is known to dead is near you or Ghosts, of being scared, the Ghosts in Limbo, Hell and Heaven oh the list can go into the Para-normal. Is it healthy for a individual to be interested and to believe to the utmost into the paranormal and speak about it everyday?
I watch Most Haunted and they all, including sound and camera men, seem to be worn out. The stories are always negative. I rarely read the about the positive. And when I do hear about the positive, I still feel somewhat sad bec its to good to be true(thats me). I do read and read about these things like this everyday, including everything. At work, I am currently reading the Demonologist by Gerald Daniel Brittle. I found the book at the hospital which I work at. A odd place for a book, I know but cool in a sense. I’m on page 78. Anyway, is it Healthy to think about ghosts all the time?

I've put no in the sense it's not good to talk about/ think about anything 24/7.

It's ok to spend some of your time maybe even a lot of your time on it, but you still need balance in your life.

Good question like right now I am in the living room in the dark justthe computer lught on listening to Coast to Coast AM a scary radio program and now I scared the crap outta myself by finding the topic.........BUT I VOTED YES! w00t.gif

I think it's perfectly healthy to question things of the paranormal, that is if you're interested in it. Life and death go hand in hand. Without death, there cannot be life and vice versa, it's a natural thing. It's those who fear it and those who aren't mentally sound that it could effect in a negative way, therefore I guess it can go both ways. I've been fascinated by the paranormal for as long as I can remember and it hasn't effected me in a negative way.

It is natural for humans to question things, we always want answers, and the subject of the paranormal is something that has been a mystery since the begining of time. It is something that can not be proven and we can't get any real answers as to what the truth is. So I think it is perfectly normal, we are just curious about the unknown. And it is something that people put a lot of thought into and I think that it is a good thing to stimulate like that, get people to use there heads and question something, it's better than watching hours of mind-numbing television.

I think the more you spend time on just one subject, the more it take's over your life. I find when i spend to much time this form, I start to hear noise's and i know it's time to take a break from here. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Personally I think it's healthy to stimulate debate and conversation.

I don't ever watch Most Haunted as in my view the presenter is a phoney (just my view... in case the lawyers are watching!!)

I do it as a curiousity and nothing more. A hobby only.

I find it all very intriging and interesting. I love reading and studing anything related to the paranormal
distortedpandy
I agree with dr, I enjoy reading and learning about this stuff happy.gif

I voted yes, being all the obsession on UM lately about the "end times" and "apocalypse", I think talking about ghosts in comparison is very healthy. Some people just love to inflict there fears on others, and spread fear, even on here.

I think to much of a good thing can turn into a bad thing if obbsessed about though.

All the best

It's good to talk about it people listen to what you have to say. And then it goes out in the open. But not the same topic over and over again. You need varity not just the same topics

Variety is good but it's all in the taste of each indivisual.

I think it is fine. I have actually be come LESS scared of anything paranormal since coming here and reading all the posts and different points of view. When I first started researching things like this...the cheesiest little picture scared the crap out of me.

Now there isnt much that spooks me.

I still respect things paranormal, but it doesnt scare me like it used to.

Well I am happy that I have removed the OB away from my life. Some of friends still ask for it. I tell them that I had burnt it days ago. thumbsup.gif They seem to be happy about it and they told me that I am more cheerful.
I still love the Paranormal, but when I get into it, like when I hunt Ghosts, the sky is grey or the day is.
What if I do see or hear a ghost, will I be the same?
FLY SPITTA
My theory is that if you lie about a sighting like say you said you seen something and you didn't then my theory is....that for lieing somethin will UNEXPLAINED will happen to you.... ph34r.gif

I'm with 2PAC on this one, but I also believe if you're scared and talk about it, you can handle more heavy stuff... I still gotta way to go though :/ I don't think I wanna even watch the "Coyote" attack video blink.gif

Of course it's healthy to question. I'm all about that 100%.

However, I put No, because if you have ghosts on the brain all the time then you can become very gullible about them, and assume that things are ghosts when they aren't.

I also can't stand it when people are not sensible about it. Someone says, "I thought I heard voices last night", and the first post is "Look up your house's history, maybe someone died there." That is such the typical response.

So I put No since it seems to me that thinking about ghosts all the time has more negative effects than positive.

Also, to be thinking about that stuff all the time is just going to make you paranoid and spooked.

Obsessions about things that aren't proven real are never healthy. tongue.gif
That and I imagine someone getting freaked out about something because they were up all night reading scary ghost stories and can't get to bed cause of it. rolleyes.gif
So, I put down no. thumbsup.gif But then again, if it's your job... I guess go for it? hmm.gif

I voted maybe. Because, while it is healthy for me, it could be unhealthy for someone who has their way of thinking threatened. Not everyone is going to learn something from talking of spirits and most people don't believe in them and would have to rethink "their world" by believing in them. Is it healthy to rip apart someone's beliefs and make them rethink everything if they are not ready to do so?
ajagsfairy
I believe it is very healthy to talk about and express feelings and experiences with the paranormal or really anything in general. How else will people know more about things they may have experienced if not by talking to others who may have gone through the same things. Its like a support group. I feel its more unhealthy to hold things in and deny that it exists at all. Its good to keep an open mind and to learn all one can weather you believe in something or not. Blessings, Jo

I disagree because this belief means that "karma" is the ultimate truth and the truth is.. bad people lie all the time. If someone lies to me and takes something from me doesn't mean they will have the same thing done to them. I know a lot of people who have screwed my friends or the like and gotten away with it while living a better life off their thieving ways (which I don't approve of and avoid) then myself and most of my honest friends live for an honest days work.

There are scientists that have been proven, just recently, to be liers and fakes who did their work hundreds of years ago and still more that are suspected and unproven. Many of these people could be innocent but who knows?

So who knows who is lying and who isn't. And to think that they will have something unexpected happen to them is a given. I have unexpected things happen to me all the time. Like my car running out of gas or my boss having an attitude when I'm having a hard day. That is unexpected but, since I don't lie due to my personal beliefs, to say that liers receive more is a strange assumption.

I would pretty much agree. I think that it is not unhealthy to spend some time contemplating the unknown . . . so long as it does not get to the obsessive state. If we leave the "unknown" alone, we will never learn anything. (Oops . . . we did learn how to make an atomic bomb . . . learning isn't always good either no.gif )
Still, I would prefer learning to not learning as a general rule. original.gif
