'Face of Jesus' on hawthorn tree

The image has been described as a revelation and a miracle

An image of Jesus found on a hawthorn tree in West Sussex has been described as a miracle and a revelation.

Non-practising Hindu Sewdutt Maunick saw the markings on the trunk as he relaxed in his garden in Burgess Hill.

He told his wife he had seen the figure of a man, but when she looked she knew it was the face of Jesus.

The couple called in pastor Elaine Thomas who said it was a revelation from God. Mr Maunick says his family feels honoured to have witnessed it.

He said: "Something was actually urging me to come to this end of the garden because we never actually sit here.

"Suddenly I rushed to call my wife, Vijayantimala, and said 'look, I have seen this figure of a man, come and look.

"She came over and said she could see it, at which point she was very clear that it was Jesus.

"She was thrilled with emotion."

The pair believe it was a miracle.

A leaflet from a church in Newhaven led the family to contact Ms Thomas who visited the garden.

"I think that often we are in the right place at the right time," she said.

"It's touched my heart and it's done something for me."

Mr and Mrs Maunick are now planning to talk about their revelation to the pastor's congregation.

Just ridiculous....., I tossed my dirty clothes on the ground, and it looked like Jesus, it's a miracle. Just please answer this. What would be the significant importance of God/Jesus using a miracle to create a picture of himself on a tree stump.

that's not Jesus, its Arragorn! tongue.gif why are so many people convinced that they are seeing Jesus? I mean I belive strongly in Jesus and I know that one of his main teachings is that you shouldn't have to see Him to belive.

It looks like Death. Can't you see the skull surrounded by the cowl of the robe?

Funny how it's always looking like some caucassion with a beard... and never what Jesus would have really looked like...

You know.. given his true genological background, and not the european looking one...

Because a face on a tree stump, that might be seen by a half dozen people, and will have been forgotten by next week, is the ultimate way of showing humanity he exists?

Why is every remotely 'bearded' image automatically Jesus? I think we should all start screaming "Abraham Lincoln!" or "Willie Nelson!" next time an oil spill/snowdrift/mud puddle/etc starts to resemble a man's face.
wrighty
It looks nothing like Jesus how can you tell its him.

Yes, Jesus was probably near the color of black and had very long messy hair and a shaggy beard. I wouldn't of even known that someone was suppose to be in there if I didn't read the title. What signifignince would it be to put his face in a tree. That wouldn't save me if I were an athiest. Somebody claimed to see mother Mary on a soiled bed sheet not to long ago. rolleyes.gif
