Ha! I really enjoyed reading these posts. It's facinating how we as humans are superior in terms of intelligence and creativity, but are still subject to silly and irrational fears - more so than the 'lesser' animals!
Another embarassing and untterly irrational fear I have is awaking in pitch darkness. My imagination goes haywire and I start to actually beleive there is a murderer stooped over me!
Pathetic, I know.

What scarier, is when you're dreaming about a T-Rex leaning over you in bed, then opening your eyes, and seeing your sister leaning over you..
It freaked me out because it was dark and I thought that she was the T-Rex, and later, I was thinking "Wait.. how did I know something was near my bed?"
It still confuses me.

Replacement, you need not worry. Your experience is not unusual. Humans, most animals infact, are often susceptable to ESP during sleep.
Sometimes I even see the last stages of my dream before my eyes in a waking state! For example, one night I was dreaming about a monster. When I awoke, the monster stood by my side, and slowly faded away. A temporary dillusion while full consciousness returned.

Fear is the great Mind Killer.

Or is it the great mind survival tool? We wouldn't have blankets without fear of cold, nor would we have locks without fear of intrusion. The list is endless.

I don't think it's irrational to be afraid of rats,(which can bite and spread disease) or really anything that could possibly harm you. I think an irrational fear would be more the open closet thingy (eerie feeling there myself), or a fear of spoons or computers or sponge baths, that kind of thing. You can't give a thorough explanation WHY you fear it, it can't cause you any real harm, and it's a little silly to others, but to the person with the fear, its a BIG thing!

I'm going to need to add bedbugs and fleas to my list of irrational fears.
Not much scares me more than the thought of BUGS in my BED.

The fear of sharks. I do not like swimming in the ocean because of this.

I have a fear of the dark & I don't like my feet sticking out of the covers because I imagine something touching my foot! I too have a fear of sharks, although I don't swim in the sea, I do get freaked out at the swimming pool swimming near the filters, imagining sharks being released into the water, insane I know but I can't imagine a worse death, drowning whilst being eaten alive! I don't even like watching sharks on the tv, I have respect for them & think that people are playing with fire when they decide to swim in their territory. They look very scary when their eyes roll back when they are just about to bite.

1) The fear of

Spiders!! Those creepy crawly things freak me out!
2) The fear to

Love!! All those I ever loved, died and left me all alone. So I'm scared to love, because I don't want to deal with a broken heart anymore.

it is so interesting to read this
i lose most of my fears as I grew up, but I think I was quite right if I used to fear those things... a fear is a kind of respect...and we just forget it

Eeeek... my fears:
1. Talking animals (i.e. Nytol Lamb, Snuggles the Bear) seems demonic.
2. Heights - I always think I'm going to die from falling off something.
3. Red Wasps - they sting like a beeeotch.
4. Exceedingly tall women, just seems weird.

when i was a kid i used to take a running leap onto my bed because i was so scared that something was going to reach out from under it and grab my ankle. also i used to make sure that my hair never hung off the edge of the bed or was anywhere near the edge so it couldn't be grabbed.
i used to pass out everytime i had to deal with needles but i went through therapy and now i'm better with that.
sharks still scare me though. especially those aquariums where you walk underneath the sharks swimming all around you...creepy!

My only really irrational fear is something happening to my kids....I can't shelter them 24/7....but I'd like to.....
I fear chickens. They scare me. As a child a rooster pecked my ankles the whole way to the bus stop. I am forever tramatized.
