What is also sad about this, is that it happened in the UK, so if the scum bag is caught, he will only do about a year in prison, if that, as we have such pathetic and weak laws here, that are almost beyond belief. Lock the bastard up for 50 years, and no getting out for good behaviour, 50 years should mean 50 years, he is old enough to know that what he did was evil, drunk or not.

In many cases the parents can shoulder some of the blame, but it is not as simple as that in most cases, sometimes children become bad because of peer pressure, and it has nothing to do with the parents. Granted it might be the parents in some cases, and yes they should also be locked up, but you cant judge every case where a child does something bad on the parents. I think you might have a different opinion if you had a bad child your self, when you have tried everything you can to make them a good person and they just refuse to be a good citizen. These things are not as simple as you think they are.

I do believe that if this idiot is caught his parents should also be investigated because of the possibility of them having some blame in this.

I think that considering that this was *presumably* an unprovoked attack, the 'child' who did the actual bashing needs severe mental help...an 11 month old baby cant defend itself in any way, shape or form.

We had a case here I think it was last year when a man was walking home at night with his 6 week old baby tucked inside his jacket.
He was set upon by a gang of youths, knocked to the ground hit and kicked and so was the baby. It was too early at the time to determine if the baby had any long term brain damage.

As a fellow brit, I don't know where I've been but haven't heard this story yet. Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me as the yob culture is way out of control over here. I do think it's absolutely disgusting & being a mother myself think that what's good for one is good for the other. He should be tracked down & punched in the face by a 6ft 6, built like brick s**t house burly, rugby player, hopefully this will give him an idea of the force & pain that the baby must have felt. I don't condone violence in any way, shape of form but this is the only language that these idiots understand. I blame the parents because I know that my 13 year old son would never dream of hurting any living creature, let alone a baby because I have brought him up with morals & integrity. OOH, I am so mad now, could easily kick a**e myself!

To those that said no harm should come to the person that did this. Perhaps you do not have children. If I ever caught someone physically, mentally, or sexually abusing my precious 5 year old daughter, I might not kill them(unless she was sexually abused), but I would beat them within a inch of a life. All bets are off when you hurt a child. Some crimes need to have physical punishment.
