Do u think that the world people should learn together?

Since now we have internet,muti-media.e.t.c.We are able to communicate at the same time. And everyone wannna studies in the best school and have the best teacher in the world.

Why not we set a school that is link to the whole world and have the best teacher to teach the people in the world in air.In this way all the people will learn together from young to old with the best teacher in the world. thumbsup.gif

And we can have the same examine papers too.Learning different languages is up to the country people to choose which teacher in the air is teaching.

The best part is the people can save the speaks in the computer etc when the teacher is teaching and read it anytime in home or other places where internet can be access. It's very flexible.

Poor country can even have the same best teacher teaching them as long as other rich country are able to provide them a big screen with the media computer in a big living room.

All the world people will be smartest ever in future. thumbsup.gif

There is no way this would work..there are too many barrier's in the way, The big thing would be the fact in some countries they would not be allowed to teach certain subjects. blink.gif

Oh so many reasons why this would not work :-
A) not every bod would have access to the equipment/technology needed to support the program.
B ) Language barrier.
C) Culture Barrier (for example Evolution would not be able to be taught in a certain US state (correct me if that law has since been lifted. Coming from Australia I'm a bit ignorant of the US Education system)
D) Everybody learns differently. Some people might be able to learn via their computer, where as others need the discipline of the classroom. So, the best teachers would be hired for the multimedia, multinational learning centre and the physical colleges and university would all end up with second rate teachers for the students who need to learn from a real person, not just an image.

I think that'll do for now.

every one in the world is jsut diffrent and that right there would create diffuclties i dont think it could happen unsure.gif

That's a high level model, but I believe a virtual classroom is a great model for learning.
It is not limited by class size, just the administration of the coursework submitted by the students.
There is a language barrier, but that is easily overcome using translation programs.
The educator can be the top in their field.

The negatives are:

There is always the part of learnin that goes beyond an educator mearly disseminating information;
There is that part in which the teacher connects with the pupil on a personal level to understand and conform to an indivisuals learning style.

I'd choose that over public school any day yes.gif

also, above the culture barrier and such. pupils would become in-social, as we become social when we are surrounded by people such as class mates and such.

EDIT

also pupils could just not turn on their pc and not learn.

That is very true, If kids where not allowed to learn in a room together, they would lose their social skill's. These's skill's alone can be worth a few IQ, points in my book. thumbsup.gif

in a eutopian world yes...in this world hell no. we can't even get along with other countries, what makes you think we can actually learn together? one day all countries will unite and become a world federation (yea right) then it would be possible.

this would be hard to say cause a lot of people in the world are living in different ways, like how would the tribes in africa or on the islands of the carribean even react to all of this stuff. also points in my book thumbsup.gif

i think it is better having different teachers teach classes, everyone views the world in a different way, and if one person was teaching a a subject to everybody in the world, it would stifle opposing viewpoints and creative thought. it's bad enough that the u.s. school system already tries to make kids think the same way.

You could equate this to Homeschooled children. The latest US Nationwide study (which I could go look up but I'm too lazy) showed that homeschooled children actually had MORE positive social skills that children who were in public school from a young age.

I homeschool my two kids and I know that they interact with more people of different backgrounds, ages, and experience levels than any child would sitting in a class with 30 other 7 year olds all day long.

To speak more to the OT's question. All the differences the other's mentioned make sense. Also, if kids were still learning at their own pace (which they would have to do because of time zone differences) kids would still fall behind etc. How would a child get one on one help from Teacher Chen in China when 10 million other children have a question too?

Firstly the " Onw World Government" has to be formed to achieve this, otherwise politicians of "nationalist" governments won't allow this to happen, this will be too dangerous for the vested interests of the ruling class of the countries.
Secondly, with the advancement of technology, we are moving towards customised education for each person. Why should an Einstein have to go through the same system of education designed for an average mediocre student?

NONONONONONO!!! This will not work!!! The idea of us all learning together has just as much chance of working as communism has a chance at working.

First off, as others before me have stated, each student has their own way of learning things, have you ever heard of the multiple intelligences? Well it's a technique teachers use that just wouldn't work with a single teacher teaching everything.

Second, there are SO many different subjects and sub-subjects in schools, colleges, and universities that just a single teacher teaching everyone wouldn't be able to do.

Third, where will all the current teachers work?!?! You know how they go on strikes to get better paychecks and stuff from time to time? Well imagine if one day we anounced to ALL of the schools in the world that teachers have become obsolete, the teachers would go CRAZY!!! Anarchy would pop up all over the place, and there would be no way to control it.

Fourth, how exactly do you think we would elect this "best teacher in the world" what if we hold an election, and somehow someone corrupt gets the job and teaches everyone to worship him/her.

Fifth, it just wouldn't be as enjoyable to sit in front of a screen all day listening to a virtual teacher as it would to be at a public school. Some teachers have unique personalitys that just make them much more enjoyable, and therefore you listen more attentively.

I could go on and on, but I'll stop here because I'm bored, hehe. original.gif

All of us learning together is a good thought... but I seriously, seriously doubt it will happen in the immediate future.
