Full Version: A Suggestion For A New Forum

I've been stewing on this for a couple of weeks now, and I'm still incensed by it.

There are two forums for Spirituality. The believers, and the skeptics.

So why is there only one Conspiracy forum?

I got a warning from a moderator on this website a couple of weeks ago saying that one of my posts was "flame-baiting". I've been a member at this website FAR longer than most that post here now and that is the first time I've received any kind of reprimand.

And here is what I find ironic: The "conspiracy theorists" are those who can't stand the thought of their government covering up things that they believe are covered up. Their sole mission in life is to get rid of "Big Brother".

Yet when someone speaks against what they believe in, they are ridiculed and mocked.

It's one thing when it's done by the "conspiracy theorists" themselves.

It's a WHOLE DIFFERENT ballgame when you yourself, as an unbeliever, are hushed up by the people that run this website themselves.

Anyone see the irony here?

Here is the thread that was locked:

And if I get banned from this website because of this, then so be it.

Either make a separate forum for non believers of conspiracy theories, or ban the whole lot of us. crying.gif

I can't really comment on this without knowing more about who spoke to you and what was said, however this is something you should have contacted me directly about, rather than posting it in a public thread. We actually cover this in the forum guidelines, threads aimed at complaining about a moderator are counter-productive and achieve little other than to cause problems for all those concerned.

The site staff try to remain unbiased when dealing with these subjects and do not take sides, and while I obviously do not support the actions you described I can find nowhere in that thread where you have been 'ridiculed', 'mocked' or 'hushed up' by a moderator.

I'll be willing to discuss this further through the private messanger, if a moderator acted inapropriately then please forward to me any evidence of this so that I can look into the matter myself.

I have no intention of banning you either, not sure where you got that idea from.

Yeah Medic banning is a bit dramatic lol, don;t go all american on us. original.gif

IMO the conspiracy section doesn't need two sections for believers and non-believers, it's not as big an issue as religion in the grand scheme of things, and does not create half as much passion or flaming.

I think a couple of the mods are conspiracy theorists themselves so may the odd time (like any human) let their bias get in the way a bit.

However as long as a "disbeliever" posts in any conspiracy thread with tact and politeness then they should never be repriumanded whatever their view.

The only people who let this forum down are the wealth immature kids, older fanatics, and "holier -than-thou skeptics" who tend to get abusive and personal very easily when you contradict their views.

However don't rise to their baiting and just continue to post calmly, that annoys argumentative people more than anything when they realise they are the only ones making a fool of themselves. No moderator can tell you off for not flaming, and your only defence needs to be to say "look at my posts and tell me one place where I wrote and flaming or abuse". If you didn't then there will be nothing for them to complain at, the proof is all there. wink2.gif

To be fair, the thread linked here was started not to state your beleifs, but deliberately to debunk others. The first post sets out to ridicule those who beleive in conspiracy theories, telling them to get a life.

To start a thread just to tell other people how to live their lives will obviously cause a backlash.

Firstly, many of these people don't have a mission in life. Secondly, if they did it is 'to get rid of Bush'. Which in itself is ironic, because his Presidency, as all Presidencies are, is limited to a four year term.

Some of these folk are so twisted in their thinking that nothing you say can affect it. The vast majority of folk on this forum already have their minds made up one way or the other about most things and as such the forum gives them the opportunity to 'outlet' those beliefs or views.

Twisted and outlandish as some of the conspiracy theories are...my personal opinion is that they be viewed as humorous, not offensive...and if they are offensive to you ...just get out of the way and let the idiocy show itself for what it is. No one is persuaded by any of it anyway. And there is nothing one can say to persuade the deluded otherwise either.

What the hell is that suppose to mean? blink.gif

Hmm now I read the thread he linked which I missed before I agree it is inflammatory and derogatory, flame-bait even. In view of that thread you started my post doesn't have much relevance, because from this thread you made it sound like you were an innocent with the moral high ground... which you're unfortunately not. The moderators were within their rights to reprimand you,

And joc, the "dont be american" thing was just a joking reference to you guys being a bit more melodramatic than us Europeans, don't get your knickers in a twist. Not everything said on this forum needs to be taken seriously. wink2.gif
