Hey everyone! I just stumbled across this site the other day, and I love it! This stuff interests me so much! Anyways, about 3 years ago, I was over at my friend David's house. Our friend Jon came over and told us this weird story. He left David's house around 2:00 or 3:00 am, and started on his way home, which was on the other side of town. He was on his bike because his truck had broke down, and he said he heard something behind him. He turned and saw nothing, so he started on his way again. He heard it again, and said that it sounded like a "clacking" noise, like a horse's hooves on pavement.
He turned around and saw something side step in to the wooded area by the road. this freaked him out, so he started to ride his bike faster and he heard it again. This time when he turned around he said it was standing in the middle of the street about 50 yards away from him and made no effort to hide. This is the description he gave.
" It looked like about a 5 and a half foot tall man, but his knees bent backwards like a dog, or something, and his head was shaped funny, and he had two horns coming from the top of his head."
He said the first thing that came to his mind was that it was the devil, or a demon, and he got really frightened and took off on his bike, and the thing followed him until he made it into town, where there was street lights.
We thought it was a weird story, and jon wouldn't stay at David's past dark anymore unless he stayed the night. he said that after he got home and really thought about it, and let it all sink in, he decided it was humanoid, and stood like a man, with goat legs, a goat's head and horns, and completely furry, (not half goat, half non hairy human, like alot of people think of when they hear the story.) Jon started calling him Goatman.
About a year and half, to 2 years later, I was working over-nights and the new guy that started working with me, Kyle and I started talking about ghosts and just weird things in general, when he told me this story.
"Ok, when I tell people this, they usually think I'm crazy, but when I was little we used to live near Wickham Park, (a park on the same road jon ran into Goatman.) and we would play hide-and-seek out in the woods. One day we were down by the creek bed where a big tree had fallen, and we would climb around on it and call it our fort, it was getting late and my friend Jake said "Hey look!" and pointed down the creek. We looked down the creek where he was pointing and saw an animal. At first I thought it was a deer, but it only had two horns, and not antlers, and I thought it was really weird that it didn't run and was so close. It started to walk off, and then kind looked back over it's shoulder at us... ok, don't laugh... it stood up on it's back legs like a dude, and walked off. It scared the Sh** out of us, and we ran to my house. All 4 of us saw it, and none ever believed us."
When he told me this story, I think my jaw almost dropped because I instantly thought of Jon's Goatman. at 1:00 am on my lunch-break and jumped in my truck and drove to David's and told David and Jon what Kyle had told me. So Jon wanted to meet Kyle, and Kyle wanted to meet Jon, so we all met up at work the next night on our lunch break. (Jon worked with me too, he was just off on the night Kyle told me that story.) and they talked about it, and compared stories and descriptions. Our friend Jeremy started looking around town as well, when he heard the story, and found 2 other stories of goatman like sightings.
I did a search for "Goatman" one night when I was bored, and it brought up tons of websites on sightings in Oklahoma (where we live) and Missouri. Anyone else ever hear or see anything like this? We've looked, and hunted, and stalked that area since the night Jon and Kyle told us about it, and have never seen anything.

Yeah, I've read it in books too. But the thing is, he still looks for it, even if I'm not around, and he was really really scared, He may have tried to pull one over on me. But if he's still trying to play a joke after so many years, thats kinda silly. I'm not saying it's real. I can't say it is real because I've never seen it with my own eyes, but i can't say it's not either, because he was scared, it still scares him, and I know he saw somthing, I just dont know what.

I've got to say I find your attitude "I'm not saying it's real. I can't say it is real because I've never seen it with my own eyes, but i can't say it's not either" refreshing

, to many people blindly believe things
Who knows, what they say has happened to them might be true
Welcome to UM because I haven't seen you before

Yeah, I like to be open minded, but I can't say things are real, unless they are the one I've seen for myself.

I was just curious as to any other stories, sightings, or thoughts, on this, because I have yet to see anything, or find an explanation.
Edit: Oh thank you for the welcoming!

I've heard of Goatmen sightings before, but never in Oklahoma or Missouri. Whereabouts in Oklahoma are you, Matt? This is my neck of the woods, and I'm always up for a road trip.

Hi Matt you can goggle the story if you want, I have no doubt you'll find it as well as the date it first was told, I have also seen it on ghost story threads on the web as well.

I'm in Sapulpa Oklahoma, south west of Tulsa. It's pretty much a suburb of Tulsa, only like 5 or 10 mins away from Tulsa. Yeah, Google was the search I used the night I found all the sites about sighting and stuff.

Well it kind of sounds like the New Jersey Devil... The look and everything... And that dates back a couple hundred years ago... Me personally I can't say I believe in it but I also can't say I don't... So many sighting of almost the same disciption... But you should read up on the New Jersey Devil... I'm not saying that's what it is, because if the Jersey Devil is real I don't think it would go that far out in your state... I'm just saying that if there is a NEW JERSEY DEVIL then there could be other devil like creatures around...

This is very likely to excist considering not only does it date back hundred but THOUSANDS if you read Greek and Roman Mythology. Some sort of species of humaniod goat. Sort of like bigfoot.

Well that's why I said it kind of sounds like... and yeah the Jersey Devil does have wings... But I didn't mean for it to be that one... It's could be a different demon-like creature... For which it barely travel out more than a state away from New Jersey. So therefore, it most likely wouldn't be. I just meant that IF there is a Jersey Devil than couldn't there be others like it????

Open-minded is good. But skepticism is a... (I was gonna say,"bad", but it just didn't seem right.) Habit.
But if your friend was just messin' with ya, wouldn't he have said something like "You got punked!" at the end?

aye ive heard the stories, theres actually a short story in a Hellboy graphic novel that covers the Goatman/Mad Axeman urban legends in one, in that he is the 'boogeyman' who attacks teenagers 'making out' down lovers lanes (pheromones drive him into some kind of frenzy).
In Scottish and Irish folklore there are tales of Goatmen specifically as well as other kinds of beastmen...In these tales they are Fey folk (fairies of some kind) who are mostly shy and peaceful, hiding away from humans in secluded places...there are always the odd exceptions though
