Stonehenge. One of those BIG mysteries. Every now and then people come up with theories saying how they know why it was made. Who built it. I was bored one night and flicked on the History Channel. There was some thing on Crop Circles on. It was about halfway done and it proposed something I'd never heard before. What if big stone structures. Big CIRCLE stone structures, were built by the ancients on the crop circles? It seemed a pretty interesting theory..What's everyone else think?
StalingradK
Hrm... not really, why would they make the weird shapes of the stones like the overheads n stuff?
Marth
well its not just about stonehenge. theres something else in england which is a bunch of stones in circles. a bunch of them apparently. all over
SoLLiZ
but why would you drag a bunch of freaking huge rocks over miles of land to put them in a spot where the grass grows funny???? lol

i have always wondered too....i have tried using facts and logics but i am stumped?????? i think this has been disscused already...maybe someone can shine light on this.

Stonhenge is really a mystery. I found in the section THEME PARK of Erich von Daniken's official web site interesting leads.

I also found the pavillion in the MYSTERY PARK in Swizterland extremely helpful in unserstanding the complexity of that mystery.

Hi SETI welcome to um... Please take note Eric's not a good source of true information, here you too may want to read this locked thread..

Not many people believe much of what this man say's anymore..he has been proven to be a lier and a fake. Alot of his research is just made up to fit his own theory's with out real proof, He does tend to however twist fact's to fit! sad.gif

If I remember rightly, there has only been one crop circle formation close to the 'Henge', and that was the 'Julia Set' that appeared in 1996. The Julia Set is a fractal formation, in that the design is based on mathematics that repeat and can be simulated on a computer screen.
This particular design, if uncoiled fully would be 900 foot plus long, and there is a claim that 3 people created this set in the dark in 2 hours and 45 minutes. I am not sure which is the greater unbelievable, that it was a) made by 3 people, or b) that they did it in the time they said they did. This was one huge formation! Also, it was the same year that the formation of a crop circle was actually filmed - appearing in 3 seconds after the dizzy flight of a couple of small light spheres over the field (the film is on this website!).

I can accept that ancient structures such as pyramids and henges and stone circles are connected with astronomy and calendrical systems, and perhaps to some degree, with crop circles, but crop circles as a basis of those stone structures, I doubt it myself.

Perhaps they are messages not to us (but by their appearance make us wonder), but to visiting 'off-world' intelligences, a kind of report about the planet and the life forms that inhabit it, including us? Or, perhaps, every single one of the circles is a hoax, created by irresponsible people? Who knows?

They have been appearing throughout history in the British Isles, particularly in Southern England where the so called 'Ley' lines criss-cross each other with some regularity, and the ancient Henge stands on such a site in the middle of the Sailsbury Plain, a wide and desolate expanse of moorland. You do not want to be wandering around there at night, especially alone! I camped there with a large group of people and felt like I was trespassing, as if I had broken into someone else's property. I felt vague and unfamiliar all the time, and I was not the only one whom felt like this. Others felt or perceived the area in different ways, but none felt truly welcomed by the site. By the way, we did not camp at the Henge, but about 3 miles from it.

I live near stonehenge and i hope it ain't a crop circle, i don't think people would appreciate it if grey's came knocking on their door.

Now being serious, like it has been stated there have been many theories on stonehenge and many believe it to hold magic, alien sign..etc.

But one theory that i think is nearly accuriate is that it is a clock ? Like acient people used to use it for the seasons or something related to that ...

Whatever it is, whoever thought of it still proves that the brain can not be fully explored...maybe one day we will solve it's mystery...

But for now i like it as a mystery and i think it should stay that way !
Mr Ed
Stone Henge does not have anything to do with crop circles. It is a mystery, but I have heard a couple of good, sensible and realistic theories.

If Stonehenge is a crop circle, then I wonder what ancient culture decided it was a good idea to plant and grow stones.

In this idea, is there any evidence of the land around and inside Stonehenge showing it used to be farm land for crops?
DJ_Quinn
So the theory is that there were megalithic pranksters making crop circles?

A little bit to read before anyone keeps crop circles going.

Don't get me wrong crop circles are real IMO, most man made but not all, and yes this area has had it's fair share.

Thanks for the links, The Silver Thong.

ok I only read through the first page so far but you guys are taking what I wrote wrong. not STONEHENGE. I was using it as an example. All across southern england there are many stone circles just randomly placed on the landscape. Apparently on this show, some people thought, ancients believed the gods were communicating with them through crop circles, so they marked edges of the circles with stones.
