Robertson advocates 'stoning'
for UFO enthusiasts crying.gif
by Skipp Porteous

FREEDOM WRITER PRESS RELEASE

Great Barrington, MA -- In a recent pronouncement, television evangelist and head of the Christian Coalition, Pat Robertson, advocated death by stoning for UFO enthusiasts.

Freedom Writer magazine, in its July/August issue, mailed today, disclosed Robertson's statement. Freedom Writer is published by the Institute for First Amendment Studies, a group that monitors the right.

Robertson used the news of the July 4th Mars landing to promote his extreme beliefs. A segment on the July 8, 1997 broadcast of The 700 Club featured news of the Mars Pathfinder mission. Employing the historical event as a starting point, the program delved into the possibility of the existence of UFOs and space aliens.

While Robertson viewed the space program with suspicion, on a more serious note, he launched into a diatribe against those who entertain the existence of space aliens and UFOs. He said, in a rambling discourse, that if such things exist, they are simply demons trying to lead people away from Christ.

According to Robertson, the threat is so serious that people who believe in space aliens should be put to death by stoning -- according to "God's word."
"The Bible says the Earth belongs to man, but the heavens belong to the Lord," Robertson said.

"He has given us the Earth. He also warned, way back when Moses was writing down not only what is the Ten Commandments, but Deuteronomy, which is almost the Second Law.

"Here is what he said to the children of Israel about this whole matter:

"'If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the Lord your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing His covenant, who has gone and served other gods and worshipped them, either the sun or moon or any of the hosts of heaven which I have not commanded you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and stone to death that man or woman with stones.'" (Deuteronomy 17:2-5, NKJV)

"Now, that's what Moses said to the children of Israel about those who worship the sun and the moon and the hosts of heaven, because these things, at best, are lifeless nothings, or, if they are intelligent, they're demonic. And, yes, there is a host of heaven. There are angels and there are fallen angels. There is no question about it."

"Can a demon appear as a slanty-eyed, funny-looking creature? Of course he can, or it can. Of course they can deceive people. And if they can lead somebody away from the true God, or away from Jesus Christ, anyway it happens, it doesn't matter, you will lose your salvation. It doesn't matter how they get you. The question is, did they get you, and under what guise?

"This is man in rebellion against God, who refuses to take God's Law. And God says, 'My covenant says you won't do this. And if I find anybody in Israel,'-- "which is his pure nation" -- 'If I find anybody in Israel that's doing this sort of thing, then I want you to take him out and dispose of him."

"It's a clear violation of God's word."

Skipp Porteous, Freedom Writer publisher, commented: "As the founder and chairman of the Christian Coalition -- a group dedicated to becoming the most powerful political force in America -- Robertson's extreme ideas need to be taken seriously, for they not only negate pluralism, but condemn to death those who dare to believe differently."

Minister of hate to "hunt down" Swedish king
The fanatical American Baptist minister, Fred Phelps, is on his way to Sweden.

"We'll hunt down your king," he said ominously to Expressen. "It doesn't make any difference where he tries to hide." blink.gif

Phelps' hatred of the royal family and all things Swedish is linked directly to his equally virulent hatred of homosexuals. He praises homophobic crimes, including murder. When controversial Swedish minister, Åke Green, was convicted of inciting hatred of homosexuals following an anti-gay sermon, Phelps saw red and turned his attention to Sweden.

"You're doomed to spend eternity in hell," he continued. "All you Swedes and your Swedish king and his family."

The minister and twenty members of his congregation from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, are planning to come to Sweden at the beginning of September. They are bringing plenty of placards in order to spread their message that Sweden is the cradle of all evil and that the king rules a nation of sodomites.

King Carl Gustaf is their primary target.

"Your king represents your doomed country and we'll find him wherever he may be."

Phelps claims that Sweden deserved to suffer in the Boxing Day tsunami catastrophe in southern Asia and has designed a monument to 'celebrate' the deaths of over 500 Swedes in Thailand.

The royal household regards the proposed visit as a serious risk and has increased security around the king and the royal family.

"We'll be informing Säpo of this," said royal spokeswoman, Ann-Christine Jernberg.

So, should Sweden laugh, cry or take Fred Phelps seriously? Expressen columnist, Lars Lindström, is in no doubt that this is no joke.

"If he were a cartoon character, I'd laugh. But now I just feel ill. Minister Fred Phelps has such extreme views that even the Christian far right in the USA feel a bit queasy."

Lindström argues that it isn't just singled out Sweden that's exercised about Phelps, but that he attracts a lot of attention in his home country.

"Phelps has eleven lawyers fighting for his constitutional right to cast the objects of his hatred to the fires of hell. To dismiss him as a village idiot is to take the easy way out."

"With friends like Fred Phelps, Åke Green doesn't need a single enemy," concludes Lindström. wacko.gif

Got to admit it, ol' Freddie boy really goes out of his way to make friends for America, doesn't he? whistling2.gif

no.gif Another 'holey' book used to spread hatred and incite violence/killing.

Sound familier, anyone???
BurnSide
I don't say this often, i usually reserve such a powerful judgement of people.

But, Fred Phelps is a monster, an awful disgusting vile creature who deserves more than anyone else on this earth to catch a stray bullet.
Or, even better, if his macho manly son turns out to be gay. I'll savour that moment forever.

Pat Robertson is right behind him.
Beastmode
Leave it to Pat Robertson to screw it up again, cant stand people like him who give Christians a bad name mad.gif
Michelle
disgust.gif Not to mention Americans in general, as if we need another idiot to blacken our name.

There is a reason Pat Robertson's tv show has a disclaimer announcing that the station does not share his views, or something to that effect.
mako
I am about as far from being a Christian as is possible, but you folk all have my sympathy when it come to those two. They give the religion a black eye every time they open their mouths! yes.gif
Pyxis
I don't even understand how his show is still on the air. I tried to watch it once but it kinda made me sick. But I guess he does get the ratings.

Burnside, why don't you tell us how you really feel...You are just too wishy-washy on this topic, and no one is going to understand what side of the fence you are on regarding this issue.

I wish you would learn to assert yourself a bit more. Stand up for your point; none of this mamby-pamby wishy washy chatter where we have no idea what your stance is.

I know you have it in you; remember, you can express yourself here, you are among friends.

Well, if my stance wasn't very clear i'll, believe me, be MORE than happy to go into a nice long heated rant about exactly what is wrong with these, i hesitate to say, people.

I'll re-word. If his favourite, as-far-from-gay-as-you-can-get son ends up turning out to be gay.

These kind of fundies usually burn themselves out after awhile. they always seem to show the public just how twisted and human they really are. People that follow these kinds of preacher creatures are looking to them for lifes answers. When they find out that the answers they're getting are violent or self serving they usually move on to another preacher creature. and the saga continues. I look at these guys and think they are a menice to society. The one thing I will give them is their right to free speech but not their right to resort to violence or to incite it in any way. Many on these forums have complained that some of us bash and disrespect their god and religion but the proof of the violent nature that comes with this god is blatent.
Michelle
Sadly, he's been spewing this kind of bull for more than 45 years. I've never really paid too much attention to him until I heard this, so I looked up his history. Frankly, I was shocked at what a fanatic this guy is. angry.gif
Pyxis
He's a scary fanatic. What shocks me is he actually has people that believe everything he says. blink.gif

I remember a particularly sickening voyage of Phelps to a small town where a boy had been brutally murdered by his peers for being gay.

At the funeral of this heinous crime, Phelps turned up spewing how fortunate it was the child was dead, how god hates each and every one of them for harbouring fags, etc. Could you imagine the grief you're going through, only to have this in your face?

If i ever saw him, i'll gladly put a brick through his vile face.
