I use to hear distinct whistling sounds coming from one corner of my room, inside my room, not from outdoors. Like someone whistling a tune, was alone at that time. Any suggestions on what it might have been?
Mr Ed
Possibly wind.
jynx-ed
i think that i should tell the whole story before someone else says wind innocent.gif no offense Mr Ed original.gif

I was really sleepy at the time, then i heard the whistling, i waited for it to stop cause i thought it would stop but it went on and on and on, was really annoying. then i sort of shouted for it to stop, looking back i dont know why i shouted though, (probably was in dire need of some ZZzzZZzzs) then it stopped. but in the middle of the night i woke up and i saw a dark figure standing at the foot of my bed, stared at it for a while, then me, being the sleepyhead that i am went back to sleep. wasnt a dream, i was awake ok thumbsup.gif
Mr Ed
It probably was a dream, the other explanations being much stranger and more unlikely.
Unless your dad or mum had come to see if you were sleeping.

Wind probably, window might have been slightly open somewhere in the house.
jynx-ed
i was sure i was awake at the time, wasnt groggy or anything, focused my eyes on the thing i saw for a while. no one couldve entered my room, i have the only key and its always locked from the inside, i even have one of those what do you call it? bolts? not sure what theyre called. as for the windows being open, no windows are open in the house, we always have them closed since someone broke in a long time ago disgust.gif
Mr Ed
I have seen dark figures in my room before, they used to move and stuff, sometimes.
But when I turned my light on they just disappeared.

This happened when I was a little kid, when I was scared of the dark and had a less controlled over-active imagination. I know there was nothing there and I knew that at the time.
People see things in the dark, maybe it was a chair with a jumper hanging around it, or the way the light was hitting the wall.
kthxbye
The way you're speaking makes it sound like you already know what it was. Maybe you should try a less bias approach, people here try to rule out all rational explanations before jumping on the paranormal bandwagon.
Mr Ed
You are unable to rule out the rational explanations.

They exist and you can't disprove them, they are more likely to be the reason behind the events than saying a shadow person was there or that the whistling noise is paranormal.

Well if it is bias because it is my viewpoint, coming from me, then fine.
kthxbye
Didn't mean you hun, I meant it towards the person who wrote it because he quickly ruled out your explanation even though it was completely plausible.
Mr Ed
laugh.gif Silly me, I didn't see your name and spouted that off.

My apologies.
kthxbye
Quite alright. I should've been more direct as to who I was talking to.

If i knew what it was, i wouldnt be asking for people's opinions disgust.gif

Mr Ed suggested some rational explanations and i suggested that some of them would not be applicable to my situation such as there being someone else in my room or the window being slightly opened or it being a dream, i actually thought that it couldve been a dream at the time but i stayed awake for a while when it happened and watched it.

Now let me tell you whats at the foot of my bed on the floor, my books and a few dolls; and they do not pile up to a few feet high.

Mr Ed
Nor do the things that were in my room at the time.
kthxbye
The light was off? It could've been shadows. Your imagination goes into overdrive with faced with the unknown.

those dark figures you saw was just your mind playing tricks on you in the dark?

That i might consider yes.gif

another question, would it make any difference if i saw it in the day?
kthxbye

Well yes, because you'd probably be able to distinguish it better in daylight and it would rule out that it was shadow. Your mind is less likely to play tricks on you in the daylight because you can see whats happening around you.

I just typed in a long post, then my ie goes haywire on me, then the second time i type it in i accidentally clicked on the back button. Now here i am again typing it again for the third and hopefully final time mad.gif

Glad that you said that cause something has been bugging me for years.

Happened during the daytime, when i was still schooling. My friend wanted me to accompany her to the loo so i went with her (unwillingly). I assumed no one was there besides us cause she took a very long time and also because all the cubicle doors were open. Then she went into one of the cubicles and took her time, i had nothing to do so i just paced back and forth waiting for her.

Then when she came out, she went directly to the mirror which was positioned directly on the wall facing the very cubicle she was in. Then while she was looking in the mirror, she froze and ran out leaving me by myself.

I then went to that very mirror she was looking at and at that moment understood why she ran out. In the very cubicle she came out from, i saw something wearing a black hood and a black cape peering out from behind the door opening it very slowly. I also remember seeing its hand, it was extremely white and was placed outside on the cubicle door. I didnt get to see its face cause its hood was covering its face.

I stood there for a while, in disbelief at what i was seeing and the door was still opening very slowly. I then ran out, but before i ran out, i turned my head to see it, but this time i didnt see it by looking at the mirror, it was still there opening the door slowly.

I met up with my friend in class and asked her why she ran out, she told me she saw something and when i asked her to describe what she saw, mind you i didnt tell her what i saw, as to confirm if we saw the same thing. She described the very same thing that i saw.

So anyone?

Exactly, just like the figure you saw.

The whistling was probably the wind.
earthchick
Could you describe the whistling more? As in, was it actual a tune, or just a high-pitched type of whistle?
kthxbye

Can't even possibly try to begin to explain that one.

But I swear I've heard that story before somewhere. hmm.gif

I don't remember, but it sent off deja vu signals. Ever told it before on another forum?

Never told it on another forum, this is the first time i joined one.
Mr Ed
I think I have heard similar stories before, probably lots of people with slightly open windows.

This story is extremely familiar. I believe I saw it or something almost exactly like it on sfogs.com but I can't remember what the title was, and I'm not really feeling up to sorting through all of the stories there. But hey, if it turns out it really did happen to you, then sorry I doubted you. Still, it does look awfully familiar..

Hi

I was looking into strange occurrences in the highlands of scotland here and I came accross a ghostly music phenomenon. The wind being forced through lots of tiny holes in rock or scree can sound like music. However there are many sound phenomenon that cannot be explained by this.
