Hi Everyone,

I am new here and what compelled me to look into forums as these is that I've experienced this for past few months. Basically when I go to sleep at night, there is a period where you wake up half asleep. Well, when I wake up my eyes look at the foot of my bed or by my door and there is this dark figure, sort of the shape of a man, sometimes hooded. There isn't a face but it is looking or staring at me. At first I thought it was in my head, but on more than several occasions I believe I was awake, and when I saw it, I couldn' t move b/c I was scared and the figure just kept watching me and moved a little closer. Sometimes the figure is in threes. Is this an evil spirit or an alien? I've heard of people having similar experiences recently and some call them shadow men and other call them evil spirits trying to hurt you. Any thoughts? I'd really appreciate it b/c now I'm scared to fall asleep and I heard they like to visit those who are bothered by it.

Welcome to UM.

First of all don't be scared, he/ it/ she jas not brought any harm to you. Many people have reported these sightings on this forum many a time. Some people believe them to be death visiting but i asure you i doubt in your case, evil spirits..i also doubt you been recently on the oujia board ? Aliens nope..

My theory on these shadow people is their like ghosts !

Maybe you have a gift which i assure you many people do not and that would also explain you being half asleep when meeting these shadow people..

Whatever they are don't show them that your scared .. original.gif Good luck

I try not to be but I can't help it. I've always had a feeling like I was being "watched." When I wake up it's hard not to be startled. I have not messed with a Ouiji Board since I was a kid when my friends summoned two spirits and b/c I refused to play they were trying to mess with me. These shadow men visit only at night and recently, one of them has tried to get very close to me. He has no face and has not spoken. And when I'm finally able to move, they disappear. I've heard that I should put a glass full of water and if it means me harm it will spill over. I've also heard it could be an angel of death and that someone that I know might die...creepy! I've heard these ghosts can get mad or even jealous..how do I make them go away?

So, your unable to move when they are present. They could be anything. I'm leaning towards spirits also. But in many cases where one is unable to move when confronted by things such as these report saying they were aliens. Perhaps they are just testing your reactions to them being there. A spirit can be driven off by telling it to to leave or something like that. Aliens are a bit more complacated to get rid of. They come and go as they please at unexpected times throught the night. When you see these things again tryto talk to them through mind and try to find out what time it is and as hard as you can remember the time of the encounter, because you might find some missing time between seeing them and waking up at a later time. I hope this helps, just trying to throught all kinds of possablities out there. keep us posted.

One and the same. Demons are aliens. Demons/aliens are the Nephilim, offspring of the angels and mortal women. As told by Solomon, they helped him build his city (he had control over them throug a ring) in which they said they reside in the stars the thrones of their angelic fathers and had mortal mothers.

This may sound funny but this helped me with similar things that would happen around my old farm house. I always got that being watched feeling at night, I was a young teenager and I got sick of being scared. I wasn't sure if it just might of being the idea that I lived nest to a cemetary, but anyways I just started to meditate and focused on the strength of my spirit. Everynight I would do this before I went to bed and I never went to bed extremly tired. I don't know if it will work for you but it is just a suggestion.
kthxbye

Yeah that's definitely sleep paralysis. You are having visual hallucinations because you are still REMing or in your "dream state". Try not sleeping on your back, it will help. Also, did you have any auditory hallucinations as well?

its demons, evil beings whatever u wanna call it, people wanna say "theyre not good or bad , theyre simply spirits" but theres only 2 sides hun.....

Exactly. Dont be afraid of these things, they are just halucinations brought on by sleep paralysis. They dont exist. You really have to be careful, dont except everything on face value. The mind can be very deceptive. Always, always look for a psycological answer, dont just accept the obvious conclusion.

Try talking and see what happens.

if you see them again, poke them.

that way, if you touch something moderalty solid, they're real and you just poked a creepy shadow man.

thats the only way to see if they're real, by poking them.

hmm person in black at the foot of your bed? Sounds to me like a priest.

From what I have heard, there seems to be a connection between the "nighttime paralysis" phenomena and shadow men. In religious circles, nighttime paralysis is considered evidence of an attempted demonic attack, or even an attempted demonic possesion.

Here's a thought: What if aliens are really evil spirits? What if evil spirits are really aliens? Is there anything we know of preventing evil spirits from living in various places around the universe, and taking physical forms? Infact, the guise of being an alien would be a great cover for a demon. Why? Because aliens are often regarded in a positive light in popular media, where as demons are not.

It is my personal opinion that what you are seeing is a spiritual manifestation of some sort.

Do you have any occult activities in your family line? Any masons, satanists, or witches? Has anyone you know ever expressed any interest in spells or magic, or communicating with the dead?

EDIT: One more thing. (I don't know if you are religious, but it doesn't matter. And please don't think me as a religious maniac for saying this.) Regardless of if you believe in God or not, try this experiment. What have you got to loose? If you see this figure again, and it begins to come towards you, say to it, "I command you to leave in the name of Jesus", or something to that effect. I have seen many many instances where ghosts, demons, shadow men, and what not respond very intensely to hearing the name of Jesus. It could be a coincidence, or maybe something deeper that we don't yet understand fully. Or maybe the Bible is true, and that name has power and authority over the demonic realm. I won't tell you what to believe in however. I'll let you make up your mind on your own. But I would be really interested in hearing what happens if you use the name of Jesus infront of this shadow man.

I would try to pray and see how it act's just thinking the name of God if you can not speak, will greatly up-set a demon.. If it does not react then maybe you should have a prist bless your home..or find a friend to sleep with you..also try sleeping in another room and see what happens.

I have an alternative take on the prayer thing. I think the reports of aliens, demons, ghosts, shadow men, etc leaving because of prayer is indicative of one thing. The personal belief in religion in conjunction with the hallucination. Your belief actually influences your perception and perhaps ends the hallucination. It may be that when you pray you are willing to end your hallucination, and so, it does.

I had an expierence like that when I was little. Couldnt be sleep paralysis cause I could move even punched and kicked my brother (family was poor so only had one bed) He didnt wake up but he had red marks on his back. Didnt even want to open my eyes cause I felt somethin was there. But my eyelids wanted to open. Praying didnt help cause stuff happened after that. But the wierd thing is my mom was having an attack that night ( she would have trouble breathing usualy had to go to the Emergency room). Maybe it was death all I know is it didnt like me and i wasnt dumb enough to go in the kitchen like they wanted me to.

And I realy hate that sleep paralysis theory. I sleep on my back when suff like that happens. When I was younger I couldnt move but that was cause I was scared. Now I try pushing up on my arms.
Now when I do meditations I get sleep paralysis for awhile after I stop, it takes a few before I can move.
But they feel different. One is a more numb emptiness feeling like theres nothing there. Old hag i guess is the saying is like something pushing down on you or holding you in place.

But just because all youve seen is red apples doesnt mean all apples are red.

Thats why doctors mis diagnose so much, they threw alot of drugs at my mom cause they couldnt figure out what was wrong with her. The more they tried to cure her the worse she got. Alot of stories like that.

And Ive read therios on sleep paralysis, most of em are just some made up bs. Some papers explain it with brain functions yada yada but they never hooked anyone up so they just guess. Someone by now might have been hooked someone up during a old hag session but apples son apples.

But perhaps that hallucination is actually reality, and still functions in the way you described, ending the said reality.

Thanks for all of your responses. On the psychological side, I have had panic attacks in the past and believe it could be possible that what I saw was just a hallucination or a night terror. I read up on sleep paralysis and night terrors and both affiliate hallucinations with the condition. However, I did see it again this time, but this time the dark image was alot closer than it normally was and to the suggestion of a few friends and commentators on this site, I used the name of God in commanding it to leave and it did. Since then, it has not visited me since. A few of my friends have had similar experiences with these shadows. It is believed that there are alot of evil spirits out there and the reason why I posted up here was b/c I am usually the one who is always the skeptic, until this happened. It's just pretty scary waking up and your eyes are open and you see it not moving but staring at you in such an intense way. Sleep hallucinations or real evil spirits, I just thought it was weird...

Well its a good thing that the shadow isnt bothering you any more. If you follow any religion, always pray before you go to sleep. If you still feel a bit unsatisfied, try to get your house blessed, if you dont follow any religion, bring a medium or pyscic to your house. In most stories I heard, dark shades or wierd figures seen when you wake up could be a sign of an attempted demonic possession.

I read of a trick its from a psychic/wiccan source so who realy knows if it truly works. But I did use it once and it worked in that instance. Imagine your energy surronding you in a light blue cloak. Its suppose to be a weak protection spell but like I said with the source who knows.
