In regards to the Mothman's name. It was inspired by the popular tv show Batman that started airing in the 60s. The creature doesn't fly around saying, "I'm dey Mothman froggers! Looking for a big lightbulb to bump into!!" Think the press coined the phrase.

Huh.. I don't think the photos real. Or if they are of something abnormal I doubt it would be the Mothman, as I am kinda of the opinion that the Mothman is like The Jersey Devil, that there is only one. Actually I think those two are amazingly similar... Both had a huge burst of incredibly legitimate sightings, and a large amount of more spread out sightings by reputable people.
Oh, and to answer the question about mothman being physical or spiritual.. its umm.. not really known, but if that guys dog was torn apart by Mothman and not something else, I'd venture to guess its physical.
Also, where is this whole thing about beaks? According to all of the Point Pleasant sightings I read they all spoke about a dark figure like a man with wings wrapped around his body, without a head, and with big glowly eyes where his chest would be. Are people confusing the Owlman who... only appeared to young girls with the Mothman who flew around near an old TNT plant?
Meep! And on top of that, don't any of you diss old camera's! A Cannon F-1 will take pictures better than your eyes can see! Its just that most people are either purposefully taking their pictures badly to cover up obvious fraud, or they don't know how to focus a camera.. or more likely... 99% of the photographic evidence is false for any case, anyone wonder why a random snapshot of a wolf... while driving down a road through the glass of a window with a disposable camera tends to look better than 90% of the supposed photographic evidence of something? *strangely, is not a skeptic*

It's about time there was a picture of Mothman around here. But, it looks like a guy in a dark rope. But still, its better than nothing.

The pictures are too sucky to tell if it is real or not. They say a normal human couldn't jump that far, but I think it is just the angle from where the dude is sitting or something.

If you look at the first part of the bridge, on the top, there is something that looks exactly like the part that is thought to be "mothman".
I think it might just be a casing off the top of the bridge falling off.

No, you aren't the only person. The film was excellent. I think you may need a higher intellect to appreciate it or to "get it".
That link in the first post doesn't work, where can I view the photos?

I'm thinking of the tourist economy in Point Pleasant West Virginia and wonder how it was affected since the sighting in 2002, if not mistaken?! Especially since the town decided to erect a stainless steel statue to honor Mothman's visitation.
Mothman linkThink of how many people see that Richard Gere movie, then Yahoo search "Mothman" and then see that statue and think it must be a true story. I bet it's a tourist spot just like Roswell is to this day. Everyone that goes expects they just might get lucky and see something of the legend.

i beleive this is one of the photos that is in the original link, the original link won't load up,this pic was taken in greenup ky,not in point pleasant wv,if you look at the supposed "mothman".you will see a neck and head,in the original descption of the mothman, the head and body were one and the same.
my take on the movie, they ruined it when they used present day and not 1966 when he first sighting happened
