Well, I'm relatively new to posting on the forums, but I've been here for quite some time, usually as a guest. But, heres my story... it still kinda worries me when I think about it, but its (mostly) in the past now. Alright, here goes... When I was about, oh, 15 or so (I'm 21 now), I would sit at the computer late into the night. The way the computer was set up, there was a doorway directly to the left of the monitor that looked down through the living room and into the foyer. Now, I had one cat- a very dedicated, loving cat that stayed by my side the vast majority of the time. While I would play around on the computer, I'd sometimes see a little black figure, usually just a blur, run from the hallway where my mom's room was, across the foyer, and into the dining room. I'd look up and stare, trying to figure out what in the world it was. The part that would freak me out the most is that my cat, who would usually sit behind me on a chair, would be looking RIGHT where I had seen the blur with her eyes wide, her ears pricked, and her tail twitching. She would usually hop down and run over to see what it was, and whenever I looked, there wouldn't be anything there. I saw this thing DOZENS of times, and not always in the same place, and the cat always had the same reaction. The figure would have only come up to your knee, so it wasn't anything very menacing at first. Then, I started having nightmares. I would usually be walking into my parents room (sometimes my brother's), and I'd see a jet black bipedal creature with big, shiny red eyes and big claws and teeth tearing into my mom or brother, or even my cat (think a tiny black, evil Gollum)... in my dream, they'd already be dead when I got there... but this thing would just be ripping them to shreds. It would always turn and look at me for a second, and I'd freeze. Then, it would charge me and leap at my head, and I'd wake up... This happened for years... but when I was 17 or so, when the creature jumped off the bed and charged me, I ran to my room. I collect swords and various other weapons, so I snatched one off the wall. The critter caught up to me, and I sliced him in half. I woke up after that point, and from that point forward, I haven't seen the blur or had another nightmare. Curiously, though, when we were getting ready to move out of that house when I was about 18, my cat disappeared the day I was going to move her to the other house... I wonder if it finally got her?

Now, this critter is gone, but I still find myself looking around, as if something is watching me... Anyone ever experienced someting like this? What do you think- demon, ghost... or am I just crazy? I know what I saw... it wasn't a one-time occurance, it happened many times. Lemme know what you think.

Speak to a psychiatrist immediately. And no, I'm not saying that to be rude to you or to mock your experiences.

Sometimes our dreams are a door to the spirit realm it could be what you think a demon that was trying to feed off your fear or just a bad dream.I have had alot of dreams of demon posession when I was younger always taking over my family I have to sleep with the tv on or I do have nightmares still.I give readings if you would like one email me.

Haha well, I don't know if I need a psychiatrist yet, but thanks for the suggestion... its just really weird stuff... I'm glad its gone now, but I'd still like to hear what people say. Its long from being forgotten...
Ghost_Seer
May I suggest that you look up Spirit Releasement Therapy on the Net.

I am not calling you a liar, as I do not know if its true or not, but this sounds like a fantasy that many Goths and role playing people think up, I have heard a 100 other stories like it, and it always turned out to be some teenage Goth wanting attention, not saying you are, but that is what came to mind when reading it.

All the best

Abolishing the fact that she may be a Goth or a sociopath, if it was dark and you were staring directly at the computer screen and then looked into the hallway, your eyes have to ajust to the sudden darkness.

You may just be seeing a trick of the eyes.

I don't think you need a psychiatrist...

Be sick, you would have other symptoms than just that. Usually voices speaking on your head.

A pet looking your way isn't that weird. They are usually alerted by the fact you're looking somewhere. They want too see what alerted you.

My dog always do look where I do.

For what you saw, difficult to say anything because it seems that these events occured so rapidly that you hadn't the time to be sure if you saw really something.

GavinStrife
First off, I'm a "he", not a "she"- thanks... secondly, it was always pretty well lit... and thirdly, I'm no Goth, and I'm not looking for attention... The only reason I posted this was to get an outsider's input into the situation, not to bring attention to myself... and when I'd look, its not like I was jumping up, I'd just kinda lean my head over and look, so it wasn't a motion that would really get the cat's attention... she'd always see it and flip, like something was in her territory. If I had just glanced, she would have kept cleaning herself or sleeping. But thanks anyway, keep it coming.

As you know Gavin, after staring at a computer for awhile your eyes do indeed play tricks on you...most likely what you and the cat saw was a mouse or rat. Or even a racoon! You may have had a racoon living in your house and didn't even know it.

When You dreamed you killed the monster, it was an indication of personal triumph in some area of your life. In essence..you won a battle over the fear in your mind. this is why the dreams went away. Your cat missing was a coincidence.

Hi Gavin,

Why did you assume the "creature" was unpleasent? Cats wag tail tips at little birds and balls of wool! ( wink2.gif )

If the thing wasn't harmfull, then the dreams were your subconscious dealing with a negative in your life & "hanging the clothes of it on the hanger of the creature" & thus you defeating the creature was as Joc said, your personal triumph.

As for puss going missing when your family moved house, sadly that's quite a common occurance. To avoid such sadness in future, invest in a cat cage, and pop puss into it the night before the move. On moving day cover the cage. Once you arrive at your new home, butter pussy's paws! Seriously!!!

Hi ..

That's one pretty wierd storie if i say so myself !

But like you stated at the end you killed the monster, maybe it was a confidence or insecurity problem which you may have.... Maybe your mind was making you gain that extra confidence etc.

Or it maybe something else...

Anyways hope you have a happier life then before....

i belive you because my freind has them as well she refers to them as shadow demons but these ones have became solid they have touched her whiel she was sleeping did they by any in your dream did it make nosies like squeling and stuff??
isis-999
It could have been a demon yes, But unless you did something to let it in i would say It probley was not. A ghost is more likely what you where seeing, and the dreams where just your fear showing it's self.. The fact that the cat was up-set would tell me a spirit was in the house dog's and cats see things we do not. And they do react to these spirits most animals will not go near where a spirit is, they shy away in fear.. cats do this more then dog's ..Dogs tend to bark at something that is not there, where a cat hides in fear, why i am not sure but this is what happens most of the time. I think if the cat looked too then yes something was there. And as far as the cat getting gone..well cats like to roam so maybe it just ran off.

I do not believe your troubles to be external in nature and i do not believe you need to see a psychiatrist unleless these dreams (nightmares) not only continued but caused you trouble sleeping or leading into consciousness more. there is one school of thought on dreams that i subscribe to and it is that when you experience much happenings during the day your mind sorts out it at night in dreams.
i find this to be very true because usually what i dream about in some way cycles through my experiences during the day, perhaps your dreams were meant to put a face on the unknown shape you would see at night. maybe by you cutting it in half it was your minds way of relieving you from the fears that gripped you. anyways this is the more psychological approach i cant say what you say at night or if it was a ghost or what but as far as your minds reaction i believe that may be an explanation.

accually, your not alone, I've seen something like that flying around my house at night, and my cat does the same thing, except, I see it in our den, living room, and kitchen.
eternal_darkness
he said it was a little biped, but how could it be a racoon, or a rat?
bipeds are not four legged animals last time i checked.
Roflmao3
Well, I think isis-999 is pretty right. but in the end the cat may ben a coincidence... original.gif
