I think its more than likely Atlantis didnt exist persay. Another City like area could have been and most likely has been buried beneath the sea.

I remember watching a T.V. program in the mid 80's that showed maps divers had brought up from the site. The maps were the land formation of the Earth at that time. All the land was conected. When the Atlantis maps were studied against our current maps, the land measurements were nearly identical. Thus, the inhabitants of Atlantis were of superior intelligence...

Well, the search is interesting but i think in order to know where atlantis is you have to know how to travel to other dimensions. not in this probable earth, but in another probable earth because that is where atlantis really resides.

The mathmatics used (as in measurements) were without a doubt more advanced than the peoples of that time period, not to mention the land was not one large mass when Columbus landed. He was in a BOAT was he not?!...By the By, tools were also found that were far beyond ANY humans design at that time. I'm not saying they were aliens.....(I'm not saying they were not!...) actually you opened up a can of worms. I study history, that is my passion and have seen the maps you speak of. One, they still aren't sure of their authenticity; two, that is not proof of atlantis only a seafaring people, who knew how cartography very well, and yes i have seen the maps of antarctica as would have been not covered in 3 kilometer thick ice shelf. Again that is still up for debate.

Atlantis was a small island, America is a large continent. I doubt very highly that a large enough storm could submerge it completely under water without a trace like Atlantis. But after 10 K years of forgetfulness TIME could bury a civilization like Atlantis.

the maps may have been from anywhere, from ancient seafaring peoples who held extensive knowledge of cartograhpy to the dragons of the one true god. the possiblities are literally endless because we shan't ever know the truth, only a small portion of it.

well there's a massive chain of underwater mountains that stretch from Easter island to the S.East Asian sea board that used to be above water, a lot of polynesian locals in those areas and on Easter speak of a people that lived on that chain of islands before it went under.

It is very possible there were fair skined blond hair people who came out of the see! I DO know that on a pyramid in Egypt it was incribed that fair skined people with red hair came from the sky and showed them things....so it is definately possible!!!!!

I like to think they were a seafaring people who happened to have found something that made them smarter and some kind of technology that allowed them to make said maps, or they are from outer space and made humans smarter over time.
