I stopped by work earlier, and I saw we got in the new candy shipment, there was a box of tootsie pops. the box said new flavor tongue.gif so, i open it and buy some, they have a blue raspberry one now.

That got me to thinking of old tv commercials, the one with this kid, this turtle and a wise old owl. The kid asks the turtle, "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?" the turtle tells him to go ask the owl and then the kid does and the owl counted "one, two, three,*crunch* three" handing the stick back to the kid.

So, that made me wonder how many it did take, I am currently at 123 and counting

Does anyone actually know?

A group of engineering students from Purdue University recorded that their licking machine, modeled after a human tongue, took an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. They tried the same licking test on 20 volunteers and found that the average licks to the center were 252 licks.

Yeah really, ohmy.gif I can't believe that that site exists.

Well I must defy, the norm because I am done at 201, no biting. yes.gif

Maybe it has something to do with temperature and saliva and stuff. I dunno.

I can only imagine what they did with that tounge in their free time. grin2.gif

This isn't a fair question. Licking is very individual; it's different for everyone. And Ragin's right, what if there's sucking involved? It'll throw the curve entirely out of whack.

I want a Tootsie Pop.

Moe wants to see Mella devour a tootsie pop.

ahem.. for purely scientific reasons of course.

its.... reasearch.

Okay they have little tootsie pops too.

If they would only take those off the sticks and call them tootsie balls they would make a fortune.

Oh I have a patent. lol.

Do yall think this is a good idea?
moe eubleck
Half the fun of the stick is having a good place to grip while you lick and suck vigorously. The wholesome center would not be the same without a stick. no.gif

Moe is a very gifted scientist. And purely professional. During his experiments he wears a lab coat and everything. original.gif

248!

Though I could be wrong - I just pulled that number out of thin air since I've never had a tootsie pop, and have no idea what a tootsie pop is.

A sucker with chocolate in the center.

I am currently involved in a similar study that seeks to discover the number of sips it takes to consume an entire St. Pauli Girl Dark beer. I'm on my third one now...I keep losing count.......... yes.gif

The answer is 10 minutes! laugh.gif

Combined 8 minutes of sucking and 3 minutes of actual licking.

To further this odd quest for knowledge, I gave my two brother's and thier two friends
each a tootsie pop, one brother is 16 the other is 7.

and each one took 10 minutes, then I gave them all a blow pop to see if the center had anything to do with it, they finnished the blow pops sooner
