Full Version: My Idea: How to clean-up New Orleans

I just had a brilliant idea! Eventually, they will plug the levee breaks and drain the city...after that happens, virtually every home in New Orleans is going to have to be bulldozed down. And what of all the homes and buildings destroyed along the swath of destruction up and down the Gulf Coast....

...where are they going to put all of that 'trash'? Why not ship every scrap of it to New Orleans and use it as filler to build up the levees so that this never, ever happens again?

Your comments on my brilliance are appreciated! cool.gif happy.gif

I'm sure that Joc means the steel and such from the destroyed buildings, not garbage like, paper and compost.

Excellent idea Joc!

I think New Orleans should be relocated to a nearby, but safer location, and copied down to the smallest brick...

It's just plain stupid to rebuilt in the same location again.
Also, I wouldn't want to risk the possibility that the toxic materials will endanger the residents returning to the same places.

They just need to let people loot forget about that! Just help people get them out of there! Then after that's taken care of then worry about the people stealing!

Isn't that how lower Manhattan was expanded further into the river? Think I saw that on the 9/11 special on PBS for possible causes and effects the attacks could have actually had.

So, this isn't really a wild idea. Sounds pretty good for the most part. If you compact it hard enough it would be stable enough to support large buildings and protect the city a bit more.

I think an oil refinery should be built somewhere in New Orleans... some of the land will probably not be liveable... I know in Eastern North Carolina ... where I am from ... I lived through the flooding of Hurricane Floyd in 1999... and there are several areas that are not liveable anymore.

The last refinery built in the US was in Garyville, Louisiana, and it started up in 1976... I believe building another one would help releive some of the gas price issues in the future.

Just an idea... hmm.gif
