Once humans colonize Mars, lets say in 50 years or so, I wonder if Cydonia could be turned into a space port.

The *cough* "pyramids" and "the face" could be hollowed out and made into naturally shielded hotels and office buildings and use the flat part for a landing area.
Also, a museum could be erected displaying the various spacecraft that have been recovered (i.e. viking, sojourner , MER, beagle, the rovers and CEV).
However the crazies might call it desecrating ancient history, me I call it progress. cool.gif

I'd have to find a link, But that face was proven to just be a lighting effect problem. They later took pictures of the same thing and it is flat, or had a slight texture but nothing monstress like the origional picture seemed to be. hmm.gif
good idea though.

It wasn't until September, 1997, that a new orbiting camera entered orbit around Mars. The Mars Global Surveyor, equipped with the Mars Orbiter Camera, took new images of the Cydonia region in 1998.

Go down to about half the page on this link.

Even superimposed, you can't escape the basic symmetry.

Neil armstrong - the great astronaut who went on moon has said that we can expect reaching mars (human mission) with the help of complex spacecrafts and supershielding technology for spacesuits.

Efforts of our scientists can make this possible in 15 years.Armstrong says :
"I suspect that even though the various questions are difficult and many, they are not as difficult and many as we faced when we started the Apollo mission in 1961 ....
