I couldn't kill anyone just beacause I didn't like them. And no way could I kill my self. I would use the bullet to either hunt ( I know you wouldn’t get alot of eats out of it) or protection against unknown animals. By the way how big is the Island? Big enough for animals or one with just one palm tree on a lump of sand.

I could kill him and I could live with that decision, but I wouldn't do it because I don't have a reason to. If the only thing I'd get out of it is a few chunks of meat, then I'll rather let him live. He'll propably go insane and I'll have to kill him anyway, so I get the meat one way or another. Besides, this way I don't have to explain the pile of gnawed-on bones to the rescue party.

Hmm. I was hoping more thought would go into this.
You need to really put yourself in the situation. Just imagine it - Starving, thirsty, no hope of being rescued, utterly hopeless, and all the while tension building between you and this horrible man.
Sharing your rations makes matters much worse. You pace about the beach aimlessly, no hope at all. Then you see it - the gun.
The gun can either give you more rations and keep you alive for longer, in which case you would kill the man, or it can end your misery, in which case you kill yourself.
Or, you can toss the gun into the sea, and starve and die with the darn man.
Personally, I would shoot the man. It would give me more rations; a little more comfort before my death, and give me atleast a little satisfaction in my situation.

I picked A.
I think all choices are mad in one way or another. Being on a island with no escape would be maddening in general, being there with some one I hate would drive me completely bonkers. If I shot myself I would be mad. So, if it came to them or me, I would choose me. I would rather suffer from madness alone then be mad and constantly be annoyed too. I would probably end up killing them anyway, with my bare hands. Either way they would end up dying, so why not be considerate and make it quick.

You know, there was no mention in the poll question that there was not ample food/water on this island. Being stranded does not necessarily mean being starved. Think of the fruit trees, the wild game, the fresh-water springs.
by the way, I voted C. I would not kill myself! If I killed the person I hate, I would hate myself (not really a fair trade when you think about it). Which left option C as the only real choice for me.
Two heads are better than one, and you don't need to get along to cooperate (though it does help). Who knows, strange things happen when in strange situations, we might actually become good friends being the only two humans

Some of you are still focussing on the 'killing him out of hatred' aspect. This perseption is shallow. You could kill him for many other reasons; extra rations, a dramatic release before sure death...

You kind of contradicted yourself - You made the above statement then said you'd kill someone if they made the suggestion (that was in very poor taste) to you on the island.
I'm not saying shooting your enemey is the most pleasent way to get along, and I'm certainly not supporting the 'Eat the Children' arguement, but the instinct to survive would far outweigh any personal integrity or morales you came to the island with.
How much you hate this person is irrelavent. A despersate need for survival
would grasp you, and instict
would take over.

Agree and probably animals, and a ocean meaning fish. So what that tell you there is food there. Fresh water can be probably there also like a pond b/c of the trees or vegetation. And maybe the men are too busy suviving to have time to kill each other. All they could be thinking is to get home.

I voted C also cus killing is wrong and it would be boring living on an island alone, Wouldnt want my only friend to be something like a volley ball

I do this because I can't see why any reason I would hate someone in the real world would matter when alone on an island. And I would think just having someone to talk to would be better then being completely alone........As for the idea that there is no chance for rescue, I say if there is a working gun then someone has been on the island before and hopefully they will come back

First of all I don't think that I could bring myself to shoot someone let alone someone that I hated! If I was stranded (and it's highly unlikely) on a island I would collect all of the coconuts that I could find. And then name them after each of the guys from Gilligan's Island.

Speaking of fruits and vegetables that Dot quoted I would just bring along my sister Holly she knows which can be eaten. And yeah using the gun for a singal flare is a very good idea. But I don't think that killing someone just for food if stranded on island is a good idea. It's not even moral. But then again this is just some poll.

I choose C because I believe I could learn to understand, and like even my worst enemy in a situation like that, because I would need someone else around me to talk to, your be surprised how well opposites can compromise when both are faced with the same dangers, you can both use each other as a crutch when one is not coping as well as the other, and plus I refuse to go to my grave being labelled a murderer, id rather be murdered my self. When in a situation like that the differences that where to be had between me and my enemy, would then become unimportant, so id hope we could start afresh. Two heads are better than one
