Those of you you have read some of my posts already know that my family and I are all used to strange things happening around our home and property. It's been that way since we moved in here 26 years ago. But lately, within the past few weeks something/someone seems to be targeting me especially, or is perhaps trying to get my attention.

This may sound silly, but due to having fibromyalgia I quite often get what is termed "nerve itches". In other words, it is itching that has no real cause, but is created by nerves under the skin. For this reason I keep back-scratchers in every room of the house I frequent. I have one on the night stand by our bed, one hangs on the knob of my computer desk drawer, etc. Well, lately something has been having fun with my back-scratchers. It started with my bedroom one going missing. I practically tore my bedroom apart looking for it. It seemed to have vanished into thin air. Neither my husband or my 2 daughters knew anything about it or had any idea where it went. Then one night I started to crawl into bed, glanced at my night stand, and there was my backscratcher, right where I ususally keep it. I asked my hubby if he had found it and put it there. He hadn't. I then asked my daughters the same thing. They hadn't either. I found it all rather strange but I just went to sleep and put it out of my mind.

Speed ahead now a few days. I was sitting here at my computer desk. Everyone else in the house was sleeping, even the dog was asleep in his bed and the cat was sleeping in the bedroom at my hubby's feet. The house was very quiet except for my occasional typing. As I mentioned, a back-scratcher hangs on my desk drawer, on my far right. I had to go to the washroom, which is through an archway and down a hall. I came out of the washroom, back up the hall and was about to step through the archway into the family room, when I looked down at the floor. There, on the floor, lying right across the archway, perfectly parallel with the edge of the carpeting, was my back-scratcher. I picked it up, looked at my desk, and sure enough there was no back-scratcher hanging there. Puzzled, I shrugged and hung it back up.

Again, days after that, I was at my desk and reached for my back-scratcher. It was gone. I looked high and low for it, but couldn't find it anywhere in the family room. Once again, no one else in the house knew where it could be. I gave up looking for it and took another from elsewhere in the house and hung it there.

Last night, believe it or not, the old back-scratcher, the one that went missing from my desk, was hanging in its usual spot. Now the replacement one is missing!

Obviously, since these back-scratchers are my personal items, something is trying to specifically get my attention. The real puzzle is who/what/why.

We've known since our early years living here that a 2 year old girl died in this house when she stuck a metal key in a wall socket. That is the reason why the owners sold this house, though it was only 3 years old. It has always been my belief (religiously speaking) that very young, innocent children go directly to Heaven when they die, so I've never considered the possibility that the little girl's spirit could be lingering here....until now. It is just that these occurrances seem so childlike. I know there are other presences here, that may have to do with the old mills that were once on our property, but I really have never sensed that the little girl was here. If it is her, I can't think why she'd want to single me out, get my attention.

I'm not really looking for answers, just sharing this with you. If anything further occurs, I will let you know. yes.gif

EC, I have just one thought i'd like to share with you. If it is the little girl she maybe singling you out because your are a mother. and she see's how you care for your own daughter's. And she wants for you to care about her as well.

That's possible, but why now, I wonder, after all these years????
isis-999
Well if she is a small child it may have taken her that long to trust and understand you are the Mother of the house, also the longer a spirit is dead the stronger it will become if it does not move on.. It may have taken her this long to be able to move objects in the house.

I do have to say, I too have always believed God took small children to heaven as soon as they died, But there are alot of sitings of ghosts children so maybe some do stay here. hmm.gif

EC, you haven't had any family or friends die in the last couple of years have you?
isis-999
Ohhh Tia that would be a good point. Maybe someone close to her want's for her to know they are still around.. hmm.gif

Yes, 2 uncles within the past 2 years, both of cancer. Only one of them I was close to though.

Funny you should ask that. He was always doing silly little things, like for instance....coming up behind you, licking his finger and sticking it in your ear....or sqirting you with a squirt gun when you were least expecting it. A big kid at heart. He was also a very kind, caring man with a huge heart. Even during his last year, when he was often so ill he was always cracking jokes and being silly. He always seemed happy, even when he knew he was dying. I often wished I could be like him.

Earth that’s a grates story child spirits or ghosts often like to play pranks, there actually very well known for it. Maybe she chooses to make you notice her because she likes you, and what Isis said she sees you as a mother figure. Although it could well be your uncle like Tia suggested, if i was you i would just keep a look out and see what else happens. Also it’s good if you keep a diary.

While it must be annoying, at least it isn't destructive behavior. I vote for the uncle as the best possibility. Perhaps he merely wants you to know that he is still with you, and is communicating the best way he can. Anyway, keep us posted on future events . . . this is more than interesting to me, at least. original.gif

Thanks everyone. Yes, I will keep you updated. There's been nothing else as of yet. The last missing back-scratcher hasn't shown up yet either. original.gif

Edit: I should add that I'm not at all frightened by any of this. Just rather puzzled.

Its good that you are not afraid of whomever it is. I agree it kinda sounds like a kid playing pranks on you. I have one of them too and sometimes it gets rather annoying when things come up missing then reappears in odd places later. Just last night mine stole my lighter. I had it setting on my bed and it disappeared. i took all the blankets off and shook them and put them back on, looked all over my room and i still cant find it. Another thing that gets moved alot is my pendulum i'm forever finding it in odd places. Anyways try talking to it or ask it politely to please stop it or please return those items. Oddly enough that works. They just get board and want attention. And they could be targeting you because you are aware of their presence. Sorry to hear about your fibromyalgia i hear that can be quite painful. My mom has that as well. Anyways best of luck and blessings, Jo

An update....

Well, the last missing back-scratcher has not as yet shown up, but so far none of my remaining ones have been moved about. Other things, however, keep disappearing and showing up in odd places. Last weekend my girls both had their boyfriends over to watch movies. I picked up some chips and a tub of dip for them to munch on. I had put the dip on the top shelf if the 'fridge, and both of my girls saw it, as they checked to make sure I had gotten the flavour they liked. That evening the girls went to get the tub of dip and it was gone. They asked me what I did with it. Figuring it had just gotten pushed to the back I rooted through the 'fridge looking for it. It was nowhere to be found. On Monday morning, when the alarm went to get up and get my girls off to school I stepped on something and almost fell. It was the tub of dip, on my bedroom floor. (still unopened)

The other morning, before school, my daughter asked me for a five dollar bill for something she wanted to buy at school. I was sure I had one in my purse, but when I checked it wasn't there. I just shrugged it off, thinking I must have spent it and forgotten about it. I sent her to school with a twenty instead. Then, last night, as I was getting into bed, I knocked my alarm clock off my nightstand and it fell between my nightstand and the bed. I reached down to pick it up and when I did, there was a folded five dollar bill underneath it. (I'd had it folded in my purse).

Another thing that happened, which could simply be a weird coincidence.....very weird, concerns 3 doorknobs in our house. Two of them were on my daughters' bedroom doors. The other was on our main entry door. It started with my oldest daughter's door. She was in her room, on her own computer and then she started yelling "Mom. mom I can't open my door. The doorknob won't turn." She's rather claustrophobic, like me, so she was starting to panic. Sure enough the knob was siezed solid. I was able to remove the screws to remove the actual knobs, and then had to use a hammer to pound the mechanism out. It was the only way I could get the thing out of there. A few days later the whole scenario was repeated with my youngest daughter's door. (neither doorknob was the locking type). I thought that was weird, but, the knobs on both of their doors were as old as this house, about 33 years old, so I figured they had just finally broken and it was just a coincidence they both broke within a short time. I just shrugged it off. But then several days after that the same thing happened to the doorknob on our main entry door. It was siezed solid. My daughters had tried to go outside to wait for their school bus and couldn't get out. They had to use the back door. The main difference with this doorknob is that it wasn't very old. I had installed it only about a year ago. This was, of course, a locking type. If it wasn't for that third one I wouldn't have thought much of it. Of course, it could still be a coincidence, but it just doesn't feel like one, if you know what I mean. So far no other doorknobs have siezed up. If another one does, then I'll start to worry. LOL.

This type of stuff used to happen all the time at my Grandparent's home and the home of an older cousin. (all total there have been five homes owned by various members of my family that have had occurances (big family)) What we do is say out loud, yes I know you're here. (then somehing like your presence is welcome here, is there something you want etc.) Then just say, I'd really appreciate getting (the item) returned to me. We can usually find the thing on the floor or a table in just about the next room we go into. (my cousin allways asks if her ghost (a woman ghost) wants her help or wants something from her. If asked for a sign of her presence, she'll slam a door or turn on a blow dryer quite regularly)

No thanks! My home is my sanctuary. And I hate cleaning up muddy footprints. Blech!
