Mad Cobra

I once had a conversation with an old work college many moons ago. We were taking about first recorded history or evidence of man.

After a bit of arguing he said the oldest recorded evidence was the "tablets of time"

Not sure who made them or where it was found, or how real this is. Anyone know any different?

I have never heard of such a thing..but i have a close friend i will ask, he's in a different time zone so it will be tomorrow, But the first record of history, would be complex there where many cultures who recorded thier history. I would say either China or the Sumerians or Egypt, would be the true first. thumbsup.gif

The Sumerians are the earliest known civilization that had a written language, dating back to about 5,000 years ago.

Never heard of the tablets of time. Perhaps they were lost when Lemuria disappeared into a shifting fog of fantasy in 1983? tongue.gif

Well he did mention it was found in the Persian arena somewhere (Babylon I think he said (not sure))

Anyway i very ignorant when it comes to history i have read up as much as I can (ending up with a blistering headache) first of all:

Sumerians: Who the shizints are they and where there from? (Just try to find out)

Lemuria disappeared into a shifting fog of fantasy in 1983?: what event was this and by who?

I hope I speak for a few other members who are not aware about this history of I’m really in the dark about things! sad.gif

The Sumerians were the first recognised civilisation, developing in what is now Iraq around 6,000 years ago

And the comment about Lemuria was me being facetious wink2.gif In fact, Lemuria was a hypothetical landbridge between Africa and SE Asia devised in the 19th century as a possible explanation for the distribution of certain animals and plants, before we discovered plate tectonics. It never, ever, existed.

Close enough; the date currently held for the origin of Sumerian writing is around 3,200-3500 B.C.E.. That is a little over 5,000 years ago.

First recorder history are cavemen and their depictions of hunting and social gatherings on cave walls.

I don't mean to burst your bubble but the history referred to is "written" history.
Yelekiah
To avoid confusion, Bio-Mage, here's a definition.
History
5: all that is remembered of the past as preserved in writing
Yelekiah
"...depictions of hunting and social gatherings on cave walls" is not writing.
