Mr Slayer
My god...I just purchased my first set of Orcs (Fantasy). I'm oblivious.

My girlfriend started painting her Empire-troops and I just got caught.

Anyone out there with the same passion?
wrighty
I have never played it before but alot of my friends play. One of them never used to stop talking about it. Is it good.
Talon
I used to play. I had a 10,000 point Skaven army. But I havn't played in years. It was the new version of the game that did it for me, I hated the new rules.
Paranoid Android
I used to play, but it took up too much time and (more importantly) too much money.

I still got my Dwarf army and my 40k Dark Eldar.

btw, has anyone played Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War? Awesome game (even if it is essentially the same as any other computer game of that genre)

Regards, PA

congratulations on the first set thumbsup.gif ive been playing this game for 2 years with my chaos marines set, supported with 2 dreadnauts, this game is killer, perfect strategy game with a nice story behind, enjoy dude original.gif
Talon
I first started the game when I was 7, although I more collected the model rather than play out the battles until I was 12. So thats huh.gif 15 years I've been collecting/playing warhammer. I've got a Bretonnian army, Dark elves, Empire, Lizard men, undead vampire counts rather than Tomb Kings), but I do have a few units for Choas, Choas Dwarves, High elves as well.
My second largest army is orks. I seem to have tons of them although for the life of me I don't remember any time I actually set out with the intention of collecting an ork army.

But my biggest army is the Skaven. I loved the Skaven, they were the first box of figures I got when I was 7 and I've collected them ever since.

However, as I said, I stoped playing about 4 years back when they killed the game with the new version of the rules. Although I am greatful the new rules weakened Bloodthirsters, and I no longer ha to worry about my Vermin Lord being killed by one in a sinle attack.

Anyone else played as ong as 15 years? huh.gif

I love that game. I have a fairly large army but it is falling apart due to lack of maintenance. I don't really spend much time on it anymore, but I love to play a match once in awhile. I even have a few games under my belt were I never lost a man (both in fantasy and 40k).

Yeah, it's expensive, but it's worth it! First the assembling the way you want yout troops, then painting them the way you want them....wonderful!
Gurrfang
Awesome! Warhammer blogs! I have a ton of orcs too, and haven't looked back on buying em up. True, this hobby is expensive, but I think its one of the better ones out there! Anyways, good luck on painting up those orcs, and never underestimate a few good 30 or so orcs with choppas and Shields! (Seriously, those greenies are mean on the charge!) Just dont get discouragede when your nicely painted unit of 30+ orcs gets worked by 4 chaos knights of khorne! But then thats why they have gork's warpath!

Good luck!

(P.S.- Any tips for fighting an ultra shooty/magic skaven army? I've been having rough luck with them lately!)

The version I'm used to required you to buy a seperate magic boxed set, so I only ever used the basic spells in the beastary, so really can't help with magic.

My Skaven usually just relied on brute force with Rat Ogres (5 of them) and a Vermin Lord. I also played a dragon if I had enough points, annoyingly enough I couldn't use it all the time because for some reason the Skaven were the only race who did not have dragons in their beastary (which was really unfair given I was going against people with anything from other dragons to Bloodthusters). Luckily some other players will agree to take that a stupid rule and ignore it.

As for guns, ignore the warp fires, they're powerful but absolutely unreiable. I'd invest in Jezzils. Tons of them. I used to feild a unit of 5 jezzils and just level cavalry with them.

I was going to start playing, but really, the cost was too much. I'm sure I'll play eventually, but I need a job first. Also, I suck at painting.

When I do play, I'll probably have Skaven for fantasy and for 40K I'll have a Tyrannid army with "Old One Eye" as the HQ thumbsup.gif
