I once read this book about out of body experiences (OBEs) a while back, that briefly mentioned that the US Pentagon experimented with something known as 'Remote Viewing' (RV) which enabled government spies to see beyond national boundaries back in the 1970s and 80s. Something about how America could spy on the former USSR by using RV. I can't find that particular book just now, but I'm wondering if RV could be extended to outer space and if it can be used to reach out to alien planets circling other stars so many light years away...? Effectively, using the power of the mind to bypass travelling physical light years.

Anyone here read, or have any thoughts about, RV and its uses in extraterrestrial contact? The idea sounds quite fascinating.
