i was hanging out with some buddies, and came back home around 4 a.m. , i didnt drink anything, didnt use drug, nothing, i was getting ready to take some sleep then suddenly, i saw this nearly huge smoke swirling in my room, i do smoke but i wasnt at that moment, after like 2 seconds it disappeared, i have no idea what it was, did any of you guys experienced something similar to this? thank you

Hi, welcome to um. I just read your post, and it is hard to say what you seen in your room. You said the smoke was only there for a few seconds, so i wonder if you seen a light or a haze from the lights out side. Also dust in light can look like smoke. Maybe if you could tell us more about your home. Has someone died in the house, do you live near a grave yard. Could i light have shinned in from the outside and you where just sleepy. I just don't think if this was the only time you seen smoke you have a ghost in the house.

thank you

it cant be a shining because i sleep with the curtains closed, im staying on the 6th floor of an apartment and it kinda outer city , so not much traffic lights, my rooms is the biggest in the house, and this smoke i saw was like a huge ball made of smoke, it was there when i turned the lights on and stayed there for like 3 seconds, im not sure if it was haze because it looked so solid, im not scared of this kinda stuff, if it didnt disappear i could touch it but it disappeared, any idea isis?

Well if it was not dust in a light, I would say maybe someone died in or near the apartment. It sure sounds like a spirit..And it could be a ghost since apartments have so many different people live in them over the years, even the one under you could cause a spirit.. Some will walk the building.. I wish i could have seen it.. how many times have you seen it and how long have you lived there.?

Night shade,as u say this smoke was only in a shape like ball,so it did not take any other form huh? I dont think i've ever heard so far somethin like this..huge ball of smoke..its weird.
A photo would help greatly, but i understand u probably dont have any as it appeared only for a couple of seconds.I cant make anythin out of this, but my first thought wouldnt be paranormal about it.

Hmm i'd like to know if u've seen it before as well, like Isis asked.

thank you too imaginary, and isis no this happened to me once, im usually sceptic about this kinda stuff but im planning on setting a webcam in my room and record a whole day , but doing this so i will use low resolutions cause i dot have a large harddisk to save all day, and im gonna ask the neighbours if they saw something like that before, that smoke ball cant be some kinda reflections cause it wasnt perfect in shape, i mean not completely round, and it was 3d, ill see if that happenes again

I wonder was this a large ball of smoke or more like a small dust cloud.. I think i would ask and see if anyone had died in the building in the last few years. What you have told us just sounds weird. I too understand you have no picture's but could try to be more clear on the size..and other details..This could help us figure out what you seen.

Sep 8 2005, 12:11 PM
ok , ummm the ball was like a huge baloon, around 1 meters in diameter,
floating above the ground , i dont know i just saw it for seconds, cant be accurate anyway, imagine a big unstable shaped baloon made of smoke floating in the air, something like that

I dont think u would get anythin out of recordin ur room a whole day, cause u say this only happened to u once.N since u cant expect if n when it can happen again,it would be VERY LUCKY to get a recordin of that incident again..even if u recorded ur room a whole day or more.It just seems to have been somethin random.I dont say it cant have been paranormal, but still u should better think of every other possibility first.

Your story has really puzzelled me ...
Whatever it was it may only be an one in a life time experience... ?
Have you felt any wierd feelings in the room ?.....
Maybe on an extreme but nearly possible idea, you maybe have a gift !
I don't think you will ever find out what happened that night
Welcome to UM ...

Hope you enjoy it here.

Hi night shade,
Sounds like a weird and interesting experience you had, though it was short. I don't really know what to make of it. It seems like the possibilities of a light reflection has been ruled out. judging by what you say. I kinda see how you descrie it. If it looked anything like your description, then it may very well be something paranormal. I suggest you take Isis' advice. Look into the recent history of the apartment. A lot of things happen in apartment buildings over the years, and it wouldn't be surprising if 1 or more people have died there. I suppose you could try having a cam in the room all die, but the chances of something being caught on film are slim.
I have to ask you, has anything else that seems like it could have been paranormal related happened before that you could have overlooked?

You also say you saw this just after you turned on the light, and then it faded after a few seconds? That makes me wonder if it wasn't a vision anomaly caused by your eyes suddenly adjusting, in that case..
Especially given the lack of anything that might be paranormal beforehand or afterwards..

smoke can retain itself in a room for a pretty long period of time if the doors and windows are closed. is you turned on the light and it was late at night, sometimes the light can affect the smoke or even you just opening the door can whirl the smoke around and you would see it as soon as you turn on a light. of course it will dissipate pretty quickly since any movement does that to smoke.

thank you all guys;
sanidia: i didnt have any weird feelings that night, im usually sceptical about this kinda stuff, but since i cant find an explanation this time, it really makes me think what if.
shakezulah: no i didnt experience anything before, this is the first one
falco rex: my eyes cant be adjusting because they already did when i first entered the house and turned on the lights of the living room.
iamunexplained: when i leave the house i leave my 2 windows open so smoke doesnt stay in the room and smell, and my mom closes the windows just before she goes to sleep.
i talked with the old woman staying right in front of us about what i experienced last night and she told me something really creepy, 10 years ago, when they were first working on the building, a site worker fell down from the 6th floor (!!!!) and broke his neck, they took him to the hospital but he was dead on his way there, but no tenants before us experienced something like i did, i wonder...

You can find software for your webcam that will allow you to record only a change in the picture. A picture is taken every second but it isn't saved to your PC unless it has changed (you set the percent of change) from the picture just taken. You can then set it to record for a length of time and then it will again compare. If the movement continues it will record again for the time you have it set for. This will allow you to keep a better resolution just in case. Have fun and good luck, its worth a try.

I@d say it's either a dust ball that's formed and connected through the night or a smoke ball that's joined, like you said-you do smoke and maybe you hadn't fully put out a ciggy?

I have a bit of software that does similar. Buy the Creative vista plus webcam, install it and there is an option where it will send you an email or take pics and save them. I haven't used it yet so I wouldn't know what happens. I'll set it up tonight if I go out and then post what happens

i checked the room that night and didnt found a cigaratte still smoking, i looked for any possible smoke sources, nothing, and you guys are missing an important part which ive just been told.

Yes it can, If he died there or close to there, he could be coming back.. I wonder how close to your room he was when he fell and died.

let me get something straight, cause we have a bit communication problem here;
1-nobody was there with me
2-i wasnt smoking
3-windows were closed, didnt smoke in the room all day long
4-smoke ball was so big you have to see it for yourself
5-im a sceptic myself but i saw this with my own eyes
6-somebody died during the construction of the apartment

Hi. I am new to this site myself, but seeing as I was a religion major in college (didn't finish my BA though)...and seeing as I have seen/felt/heard things on NUMEROUS occasions, I think I have a bit of an "expert view" on this.
First off...if it wasn't perfect in shape, it wasn't a 'ghost'. Spirits that remain on this earth remain as energy. In order for energy to form and take shape it must remain perfect (some physics law)...therefore, this ghost was not a ghost. HOWEVER...if there was a spirit there who couldn't manifest him/herself it would be entirely possible for the spirit to manifest the BALL into being...therefore, if it was paranormal, the ball itself wasn't the manifestation of a spirit, but the manifestation CREATED by a spirit.
You say you smoke...there was AMPLE smoke remaining in the room (as an ex smoker, you will never really clear out the smoke particles floating in the room until you quite smoking and give it some time)....therefore, for a spirit to create this manifestation is entirely possible.
However, because I have some knowledge on the subject and I want it to be taken seriously I would rule out EVERY OTHER possibility first.

Hi Night shade, no one needs to die in a place for you to see something like this. Could simply be someone passing by, or visiting. Ecto can look like smoke right? Don't know if ecto can be seen with the naked eye though. When I'm gone, I would try to move about freely and scare everyone too just for laughs.

That's just insane... so what you're implying is, if someone has seen something, and someone has died within a certain distance of the something they saw, it is absolutely a spirit.. Logic is out of your grasp i see.
