Farmer John Lewis has lost five lambs in mysterious circumstances over the past few weeks at his holding at Newport. He believes a big cat is responsible after finding the body of one of the lambs. I'm convinced there is something out there and I'm determined to find out what it is. "I've farmed sheep all my life as my father did before me but never have I seen anything as bad as this," he said. "Dogs and foxes always go for the neck. "But this time whatever attacked the sheep had pounced on it from behind. "The farmers around Newport are getting extremely worried.

"I'm convinced there is something out there and I'm determined to find out what it is." Two other north Pembrokeshire residents have told Pembrokeshire council that they have spotted a larger than usual feline-type animal several times recently.

There were reports of a large black cat in my area a few days ago, very possibly a panther. It's interesting that large cats are still being seen in the UK, if anything the population has increased over the years rather than decreased, suggesting that they may actually be breeding in the wild.

Last year in Lithgow, NSW, Australia there were reports of a large black cat in the area, as well as the entire area of the Blue Mountins (Very Large World Heritage Listed Reserve on the edge of Sydney). A family actually managed to lure the animal into the open and film it, it appered to be a Panther. The animal was never caught and sighting have increased dramitcaly by bushwalkers and residents, Rangers have establshed that the cat's have been breeding in the bushland which is an ideal place for hunting and remaining undetected. I just wonder how this all started, i mean in Australia panthers do not exist, so it has been introduced, but not just 1, there would of had to been 2 or more as they are breeding, ex-circus animals possible? I know this may sound crazy, but maybe it is that some people think it is "cool" to have large cats as pets. When these pets get to big or dangerous or the people can't afford to feed them they are sold to zoos and the like or are given to animal sanctuaries. Maybe someone had a pet panther and when it got to be too much to handle they let it loose. I went to an animal sanctuary outside of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and they had many big cats including tigers, lions, a panther, a pair of foxes, 2 bears, an orangutan, and many many other animals that had once been "pets". It's really quite sad.

Yes, people get pets that they think will impress their friends without thinking about whether or not they can actually care for them. Disgusting, really.
