Ok, I've noticed we have Star Trek thread. And we have a Stargate thread. But there's so much other sci-fi out there which just absolutely rocks. This thread is the place to discuss any and all science fiction.

I guess I'm specifically thinking of TV shows, but feel free to discuss other media types too.

So I guess I'll start. Two of my favourite sci-fi shows are Babylon 5 and Lexx.

Babylon 5 was just so detailed, it was great. and LEXX is just sooooooooo funny. Quality sci-fi. I was just thinking of LEXX and wished I could see it in AUstralia. They used to have it on pay-tv about a year and a half ago, but they stopped showing it, and now i've gotten rid of cable.

Anyhow. feel free to use this thread to discuss what you like about sci-fi.

I have seen the Dead Zone from time to time, that is also quite good.

I only caught a few episodes of Farscape but from what I saw it was an awesome show.
Babylon 5 I`ve only ever seen on pay-tv and I though it was one of the better sci-fi shows I`ve seen.

I guess this would be a place I could ask this question. Does anyone know anything about the movie 'Serenity'? It's about to be released this month, I believe. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but it looks kinda fun and I think it's based on a TV show.

Thanks JennRose - that's really what I wanted this thread to be about, a place where we can ask any question related to sci-fi.

I've never seen Serenity and didn't realy know anything about it until you mentioned it. It's still rather new and we haven't got it in Australia. But yeah, it looks like it could be interesting. It's a Joss Whedon creation, which could be good, though he might make it a little "teen friendly".

If anyone else knows more, please enlighten us.

Serenity is based upon a sci-fi series called firefly that was axed after just one season even though it had a number of fans. I have read numerous rave reviews about it. Its set in the future and apparently its like a cross between a western and a sci-fi show. The western part comes from the planet they land on I believe. Sorry I dont know more but it hasn`t been out on tv down under sadly!

Well, the previews I have seen of the movie that is coming out makes it look like a lot of fun. It seems to be playing up on humour more than straight sci-fi. Kind of like a rowdy Hitchhiker's. Or something.

PA, Firefly is coming to FOX 8 down here on pay-tv in the next month or two if you want to watch it!

I'm sort of getting hooked on the new Dr Who series. It's a great laugh and a bit of fun. Can't say I really watched the originals though my Dad did and says they stay pretty true to the wacky storylines they used to come up with.

Has anyone seen Red Dwarf? That show is hilarious.
I wonder if I'm the only one who knows about it.

aztec - unfortunately i just unsubscribed from paytv. Can't really afford it. i've been meaning to get rid of it ever since i upgraded to broadband......... ah well, you win some, you lose some. I'll get around to seeing it sometime.
