The recent news that South Korea is to take the US to task over Google Earth images which expose its military installations to close Commie scrutiny has provoked a mini stampede of other peace-loving nations eager to protect their assets from prying eyes.

Enter stage right Thailand, which says it may ask Google to "block images of important state buildings vulnerable to attack". Armed forces spokeschap Major General Weerasak Manee-in told Reuters: "We are looking for possible restrictions on these detailed pictures, especially state buildings. I think pictures of tourist attractions should do, not crucial places which could threaten national security."

Well, we went and had a quick shufti at some Thai military installations, and took the opportunity to scour the Earth's surfaces for other Google satellite data which might threaten Our Way of Life. We restricted ourselves to stuff which lends itself to perusal, mostly air force bases, because (trust us on this one) you can easily waste a whole day looking for Russian ICBM installations.

First up, the evidence for Thai military preparedness. Here's Udorn Air Force base, around 300 miles from Bangkok:

Well they have every right to want their bases kept secret. However even if GoogleEarth blocks out the images they're still gonna be there for every other government to see...hmm.

Google Earth should be banned...

I am sure osama is using google earth at this point thru his submarine internet connection...and surely america will suffer another tragedy just like 911...

America is no longer safe heaven...

GoogleEarth should give out fake images, like show pictures of fake militiary bases out in part's of empty desert, and desert where the bases really are. Let's see how useful GoogleEarth is to terrorists then tongue.gif

I may be wrong, but it doesn't take 22 space sattalites to spot two world famous sky scrapers in the middle of manhatten, does it?
SnakeProphet
I don't see them running out of targets anytime soon.

maps.google.com should also be banned..well not exactly banned but they should stop using 3d mode and use only map mode...

As both Talon and walken pointed out,

You can walk into any petrol/gas Station and purchase a local map. You could use yellow pahes to look up the address.

I would be more concerned with selling the terrorists weapons then training them...

Also might want to check for terrorists training to be Nuclear technicians much like the one's who trained as commerical Jet pilots in America.

Ban google earth, How about ban stupidity and pointless paranoia

But if Goggle could collect the information, then an organization that has millions behind it, could just as easily collect the same data!

Oh, and another thing, the site says that some of the images are over eight years old!

Yes, google earth isn't real time at all, making a lot of things outdated. Besides, this technology has been around for many years, and available to even terrorists regardless if this app is shut down or not. Google just made it available to the common folk like us (which used to be Keyhole). Any terrorist organization could easily hack into satellite imagery anyway.

I like Google Earth original.gif

Havn't used it for a while though.

I found Bill Gates house, and other big stuff like that (you can look it up on the Internet the exact locations.)

I've yet to find Wembley Stadium, where Queen preformed in 1985, my favourite band grin2.gif
