Let's say we say the power of immortality. Humans could live forever and the population would rise and the earth would be over populated.

Definitely immortality, and no you would have over population, poeple would not be in a rush to have kids if they had forever to do it.

I choose immunity from all diseases and afflictions of old age. You could still die, but you would have to be killed or injured to do so.

Thats true enough. In your post stixxman you said people would wait to have kids. I would say a very large number of children these days are not conceived through intention, but by accident. If immortality was possible, yes, people would be sleeping with many other people, having " accidents ", increasing the popluation at a rapid rate.

I'd have to say... All humans should have the quality of common sence to an extreme degree and also tolerance of one another which goes hand in hand

We are all entitled to our opinion but me....I would end up killing some of the people I know after 3-4 centuries.
Think about that next time you are the least up set with someone Stixx

I'm not certain that longevity would be the best advantage for humans. Anyway who would want the only method of death to be by accident or murder? I suggest that increased knowledge, understanding and compassion would best serve mankind.

Put yer darn granola bars away already, humanity already has a purpose, why do you think you get up every morning.

Sep 15 2005, 04:39 PM
That's the goal society puts on every individual.
But for the HUMAN RACE, now THAT'S different. A purpose for the human race would put some meaning into everything you do each day. And most importantly, once you "finish" your purpose, everybody will be able to die/get extinguished/sleep forever with no regrets.

I don't believe there can ever be a global purpose for humanity, to many cultural centric cultures, too many individuals. That would probably change though if we found out we weren't alone in the universe.

Hmm I think, a advantage in good enviroment would be a good one. This way we wont have to regret anything. Animals can live safely in balance. We wont have to worry about the popultion, the ozon layer, and so many more problems.

Even if you were biologically capable of living forever, that would not mean you would do so. Why? Because after centuries, or even millenia of life, all of the weird, unlikely accidents that kill human beings (such as plane crash, getting hit by lightning multiple times, and so forth) become very likely to happen to you.
