When do YOU think Doomsaday will occur? Some theories are of that giant asteroid hittin' the Earth in the year 2012, others think a giant nuclear war will kill us all, and a new thorey is arising:

We will run out of oxygen.

We arn't replacing trees as often as we should; the world is increasing in popular by a billion people every year, 100 people are being born every minute, and all these people breathe in oxygen, but trees are running out very very quickly.

What do ya think?

I think thAT is no use of tourtoring youserlf about the world going to end.

Doomsday won't happen. There was one possible asteroid threat and was ruled out. The 2004MN4 and it was soposed to hit in 2029. There were lately some bs about sun exploading in six years. Sun is still young. It won't happen. Our osone layer or whatever you call it is recovering slowly so the natural disaster won't happen. Asteroid that could hit us hasn't yet been detected. If it has, we would build a giant railgun in space a blast its arse down to Mars (hey that rhymes). It just ain't gonna happen. I mean, the nuclear war? C'mon the world is slowly getting united. Won't happen. What else?
atomos
What?? Runnin' down on oxygen? That's the most stupidest thing I ever heard...... w00t.gif
Raptor
An increase in 1 Billion people per year...Did someone forget the death count?

I thought the entire Earths Human population was only 3 billion? BTW, around 70% of our Oxygen comes from the sea. We still have quite a bit of oxygen left tongue.gif

@atomos
Complacency is a bad thing. It's inevitable that Humans will die out eventually. It's just a matter of when.
Yelekiah
It's worse, population is closer to 6 billion.

you are one optimst guy ...i agree that people get obsess gby making up a way to end the world on the minds of everybody but the war can hapen, the world isnt uniting at all , we can have a nuclear war at any time, the bs about the sun exploding in six years well...the stars does not explode, they expand many times their original size, then turn red and then dies, it will cook the earth but not explode, but this will happens millions of years in the future and is something very gradualy, it will increase his size and its heat so slowly that generations and more generations will see it after the las one dies of heat, when this happens probablky there will be no humanns on earth...and i think that the number population is 6 billion since i remember and it is not increasing a BILLION per year, i think he mean to say a MILLION per year...

Lmao, ^^ the ozone layer is NOWHERE NEAR recovery. It's not even in the process! disgust.gif

I dunno what TV you watch or who's radio you're listening to hmm.gif but the world, again, is NOT slowly reuniting, infact, it's getting worse. There is every chance of a nuclear war - not saying it WILL happen, but there's always a chance.

The asteroid/meteor - if it hasn't been detected, how did they know about it in the first place, huh? I somehow doubt these people nipped out for lunch and coffee, and when they returned the damn thing had gone!

I'm not trying to sound rude, but you're really not making any sense, infact, I think you're living in a dream-world. huh.gif

There was a Russian theoretical physicist who came up with the idea of stages of civilization. His numbers go from Type -1 to Type 5. He based his theory of types of civilizations on the ammount of energy and the type of energy used by a particular civilization and on the assumption that that are (or at least the possibility of them existing) interstellar civilizations out there. The types are as follows.

Where this all has relevence is that this scientist said that the transition between Type 0 (where humans are now) and Type 1 is the most dangerous, turbulent transition of them all. Most theoretical physicists who ascribe to this theory agree that were are a hair under 100 years away from really developing fully into a Type 1 civilization.

Also, due to the nature of a Type 2 civilization (basically large scale interstellar travel and colonization. Think the Federation from Star Trek) that nothing can really wipe out a Type 2 civilization, which we are about 1,000 years or so from being.

So by taking this, if Doomsday is going to come for humanity, it is going to come sometime within the next 1,100 or so years, but probably much sooner than that, if at all. Most who ascribe to this theory give us about a 50/50 chance of making it to the year 2,100 AD.

Reckon so, for a while I got caught up on the fact that the mayan calander notes December 24, 2012 as the day the world will end or change, noteably, the same date is used in calanders in New Zealand and other old civilizations around the world, so doomsday is real and not if but when, I decided I have no control over this so I just follow my philosophy on life and "eat a lot, drink a lot and dont think about nuthin"

I hope we get a warning and I hope we live in anxiety that it'll happen. Yes there would be chaos by the scared people.. .but I've gotta say that would be the best day of my life. Imagine what things you would do, but would NEVER do in your normal life today. Maybe we should start living that way (I mean, if it's good). innocent.gif

I guess you are right. In a way, it would be a lot of fun. I would go NUTS and just do anything and everything I ever wanted! w00t.gif

I agree grin2.gif

I'd hope we would watch that asteroid coming down upon the Earth... 'course it'd be nervous, and everyone would be so scared you COULDN'T have the power to do anything.
Alexander The Great
As soon as we switch to an alternate energy, make a misile defense system to rule out nuclear war, build back the rainforect, create instant galactic travel, make peace with ourselves and other inteligent beings, colonize other plantets, and tunnel out of universes, mankind can live forever.

Have a little faith. When we put our minds together, we can achieve anything!
silverpollux
I think that human beings will be their own undoing, one way or another, probably through means of nuclear war or overpopulation. It's hard to say when but I don't imagine we have much time left.
Flame Thrower
It really depends on the persons faith, as all faiths speak differently about Doomsday, Judgement Day, call it what you will. Some believe that Mankind will bring about its own demise. So...we're all screwed grin2.gif

Who knows... Then again... I wouldn't want it to end when I'm in my twenties sad.gif

Well the majority of the oxygen we breath is produced by algea, not tree's.

On top of that, human's lawns contribute plenty of oxygen, so even if we cut down ALL of the rainforests in the world, and replace it with human houses we'll have just as much oxygen as ever.

Anarchy isn't good, people would be trying too hard to screw everyone else over for anyone to actually enjoy it.

That is a scary statement. Are you saying murder, killing, starvation are good things?? Because that is the kind of things that would be happening. Are you saying you would like to see children dying? There is nothing fun about this. You scare me.

i must agree with ericraven2003 maybe im just boring but i have no desire to run around and pillage, murder, rape ect or anything like that. i find the thought of living to be more fun anyways.

Just what kind of Doomsday that you talking about? There are so many of Doomsdays. Christianity is one of them. I fail to agree with you that trees are diminishing. I know a lot of people that have tree planting jobs. What is exactly is a “giant” nuclear war?

In 1900 there were 10 million to 17 million people aged 65 or older and by 2050 the number of people 65 years or older will expand to at least 2.5 billion people. Doomsday? --I think the Earth is getting better. Pharaoh, do you want a doomsday? Well, its coming for you.

On a serious note: I think humans already started Doomsday due to pollution creating Global warming. Or bioterrorism will kill us all in a moment such as the same with new viruses in birds and mosquitoes. I suppose the suggestion are just too far reaching to make realistic implications. The earth is not our Earth to make such Judgements since we have the lowest occupancy. ..instead of Doomsday, call it Change-day and be more optimisticin life..Doomsday ha!
Wingman
Doomsday doesn't neccisarily HAVE to come, maybe we'll find the answer to save all life, the earth, and the universe. On a side note, one man's doomsday can be another man's blessing... Maybe the end of earth is just the beginning.
whoa182
One thing im worried about is bioterrorism... genetically engineered viruses etc..
