The movie is based on a true story.
Its a bout this guy which kills his family because he heard voices conspiring against him. He thought it was his familie's. So then he goes to jail and the next family moves in. And they began to experience a hostile and dark presence. And I forgot what happens next.

This family moves into this Dutch house (first family) Their eldist son (murderer) was a druggy and very spoiled. He said when they first moved in their they sensed a precense. He once got so mad with his parents for their constint fighting he got a gun and whent to the kitchen at the middel of the night and tried to kill them but the gun didn't go off (weird eh?)Several years later he was watching some sort of war movie while was high and he hard voices (so he said) a dark entity "handed" him his fathers gun. He went to everyones room (Mother and father first) He shot them both. Yet! No one heard the gunshots in any of the other rooms as if their was some sort of....blockage.He killed all 6 of his family members. Including 2 sisters 2 brothers his mother and father ( I think that's the right numbers) Not one of them heard the gun shots! (WEEEIIIRD) Many investigators have been looking into this...it's very creepy and make you wonder .Anyways, afterwards the police didn't think it was the eldist son. His father had some "diff" with the mob back in their old town. So they thought he was just wacked along with his family. But later the son confessed and was arrested for 6 life sentences...his confessment got him off the death chair. Some years later a new family moved in. They thought this house was perfect. When they moved in it seamed perectly normal. Just some scratches on the walls and that like. They just thought it was rats. Right after Christmas everything got creepyier. They would hear voices...stuff would move on their own. They even got a preist (Catholic) to do a exorcisim on the house...he went into one of the rooms which he said was utterly cold then something said "Get out!" and slapped him in the face. He, to this day, claims that to happen. Many preists and such came in and out the house. They thought it to be a dome of Satan itself. Everything got worse and worse. One night it got so bad, the clocks would spin on the walls, voices, shadows everywhere, everyone had awoken to screaming. They ran out of the house. The father saw a entity at the top of the stairs as they exited the house. They left everything in their and refused to get it out. They leaved with the mothers, step-mother. It was inhabinant for many years....it sparked Ghost Hunters and the lots arousal who claim to have seen many odd things included turing a saunce they took a photo of the stairs where a childs face with glasses appeard. (I saw it....very creepy) Their were no children present during that hunt/saunce. They changed the address and its appearance and now a couple lives their now saying that nothing out of the ordinary has happened.
The family was so horrified they choked up during the interview I watched on the History Channel. This is a creepy story and it gives me nightmares.

You should read the book about the family who owned the house before they died. The Defeo family. Its very interesting.

The Night the DeFeo's Died. That was a really good book by Ric Osana (spelling). It even talks about his meeting Butch DeFeo and his wife (that would be the first one) Geraldine.

Watched this one for the first time last night. I wasn't aware that the makers of it were the target of a lawsuit by Mr. Lutz over their portrayal of him in the movie. You can read about that
here if you so desire. So what did everyone think? I remember just bits and pieces from the first one. Other than take liberties regarding Lutz, I did like the film-though it will probably just increase the chances of an event changing and evolving every time it's told.

I saw Brolin version and as of last night I saw new one. Older version impressed me more this one was lacking in scares. Far as story it was already proven false so its just a story.

Yeah, the Lutz's were proven to be hoaxers, so no need for nightmares.

I just seen the new Amityville Horror movie and I thought it was pretty good. They added alot more visual aspects to it. Less of having to use your imagination to seing what the family was actually seeing in the home. Too bad after reading all the hoax information online it makes it a bit less scarier for me. But good none the less. Have any of you seen it? What's your opinion on it?

I haven't seen the old one, but I liked the new one because it did scare me and Ryan Reynolds looked freakin' cool. I'm debating whether or not Im gonna buy it.
